CASEY SCORPIONS v PORT MELBOURNE
The Backyard Charizard replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
If it's wet next week then I'd be happy to keep Kent and rest Harmes for BenKen -
CASEY SCORPIONS v PORT MELBOURNE
The Backyard Charizard replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
I honestly wouldn't make too many changes from the side that played yesterday... Agree that Jeffy, Kent, Harmes and Oscar have not been great but with Dunn going down today I think we make 1 change only... BenKen for Kent unless injuries force other changes... OMac needs to keep playing and is less of a liability than Olaf imho -

Jack's season has been phenomenal so far... The fact that he is having to pinch hit in the ruck is a blight on our ruck stocks (albeit a few injuries)... Jack is a smart user of the ball and blokes with football brains are worth their weight in gold! Big QBD coming up for this young man...

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 10
The Backyard Charizard replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Standard week for me this season.... Mon - Wed = Full of confidence either that we will bounce back or string another win together Thurs = Begin to have doubts about selection and the anxiety begins to come in small waves Fri = Footy weekend begins and generally end up watching a cracking game of footy on TV, albeit not involving Melbourne Game Day = Stomach in knots, anxiety is more like a tidal wave, borderline myocardial infarction for 3 hours, followed by beers of joy or sorrow My heart beats true for the wins that are few and I try hard not to spew, Should all the losses be forgot keep your eye on the Red and the Blue! The next day would've been fine if I didn't hit the wine, that's the reason that I feel so sick, sick, sick I feel like death so please don't yell, thanks to Dazza and those other pricks! -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 10
The Backyard Charizard replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I just have a horrible feeling that if our midfield is not 'ON' and they start heaping the inside 50s on us then we may struggle to contain the likes of Coxon and Hipsterhoff... If this is the case then we will more than likely see one of Watts or Hogan dropping back any way... But then again, I am ignoring the fact that this is a vastly different Melbourne side with a nice balance of skill, effort, toughness & confidence... I should just relax and enjoy the win! -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 10

Have a funny feeling that Dawes may get a run... Would O-Mac out/Dawes in be a crazy move? Considering we could more than likely then use Watts as a defender (who has accurate field kicking) and play Dawes and Hogan out of the 50... Giving each a chance to move up the ground and present the long lead... With Dawes pinch hitting the ruck... I made a great junior coach but never graduated to seniors, so don't howl me down people... Would be a risk moving Watts from a position where he has played very well this season but the kid has some confidence now and we all know how that affects certain players -
If Jack is getting frustrated, then my advice is to SCREAM AND DEMAND THE BALL LOUDER! Worked for me during my career... Only downside was the amount I had to spend on Strepsils and Throaties

POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 9
The Backyard Charizard replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
With all the talk going around about how we have a number of players suffering from "illness" the result was pleasing... Definitely not the greatest game but a win is a win and it keeps us with a very healthy % Important to knock Port off next weekend and then look to keep building momentum into a tough MCG stretch after that against Hawthorn and a rejuvenated Colling%^&# O-Mac will struggle against Dixon and Westhoff -
Great kick out by TMac

Well, at least if a number of our players are carrying this illness/bug there is a huge chance that we may indeed $hit all over Brisbane!
-
Have just heard it on good authority that 21 of our 22 players are struggling with this "mystery" illness.... Only Bernie Vince is 100% fit although struggling slightly with a hangover
-
The following players are well and truly on my list of blokes I would gladly punch in the face, vomit and/or p155 on without a second thought... Jake Stringer (has recently elevated himself to the top of the list) Tyrone Vickery (Unlucky to lose the title recently) Dale Thomas (^&*#head of the highest order) Alex Rance (Obvious and frustration is a poor excuse) Ed Langdon (the name just encourages the urge) Boomer Harvey (retire already would you) Lindsay Thomas (wanchor) Andrew Walker (Just annoys me) Hamish Hartlett (Sniper and all round dish licker) Tom $cully (Cnut)

An 8 goal win will not lift anything/anyone.... This victory today requires nothing short of 12 goals to be any sort of positive! That is all

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 9
The Backyard Charizard replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am not all that upset by the "omission" of Christian Salem this week... The kid just seems to be an automatic inclusion whenever fit but so far this season, from an outsider's view, he seems to just be coasting along... This may just be a kick in the ring piece to say "You need to earn your spot mate" I think we look really good with Bernie taking the kick-ins and I don't believe that Christian has been offering all that much outside of this role... If there was a stat for broken tackles against then, unfortunately, I think Christian would be leading so far this season Go back to Casey, work hard for what I think will be more than 1 week, and knock the selection panel's door down to get back in! Go Dees! -

Angus Brayshaw's concussions
The Backyard Charizard replied to Travis Boots's topic in Melbourne Demons
Helmet could bring about some sort of "cult figure" status for you Gus But seriously, I'm sure the club and everyone involved will be looking out for the kid's health and he will be given ample time to get himself back to full ability
