  1. Try reading. I've put my arguments up. ike a potential trade and it's reasons. Like how we will increase membership, the exposure would help with sponsorship. All you've done is whine like a little school girl about how it's too hard and made up figures like 5 million. We need 30,000 new members do we? No, if it was 5 million over 5 years, that would be 6,000 new members a year or 4,000 new members a year and more sponsorship. That would be a more honest assesment. I haven't offered cliches but you've offered distorted arguments. Keep complaining about how everything is beyond us, it is supporters like you who make this club a second class citizen in the AFL.
  2. At least your first line holds some truth to it.
  3. You've got to spend money to make money. What we spend on Judd we'll get back in spades through the extra membership and exposure. I've put up a trade which I think is reasonable, see my earlier post for reasoning, but have said Robb, Bruce and pick 4. That is effectively giving up one young player for a 24 year old who is one of the best players we'll ever see. As I said, is it enough.... Because others have more than us are we supposed to put a trade like this in the two hard basket and complain about how everything is so easy for them? Personally, I don't think we should. If Judd wants to come home, he can make his own call and request a club. We need to make ourselves attractive to him. I don't think we are as big a basket case as some here tend to and with the club entering it's 150 year and work underway on our new facilities I would hope we could market ourselves to Chris. Judd won't be the answer to all our problems, but he will make our midfield walk a hell of a lot taller and other players as well. We have some good young talent, if they keep improving, we have Judd for about 8 years, I think the future may just look bright. Yeah we'd have a lot of work to do, but whatever happens we have a lot of work to do...
  4. Melbourne has a reputation for being very conservative. That's because our supporters are just that. Weak and conservative. Unlike you Hannabal I'm surprised at how negative supporters are on this thread, I know I shouldn't be but I am. Hey morons, a trade might not work (one dodgy basket, give me a break; trade our own Judd - year they grow on trees), just like not all pick 4's turn out to be good players - let alone stars. The upside is huge. Just a pity that most of our supporters are as spineless of some of the teams we have put out on the field in recent times. That said, at least the team reflects those that support it.
  5. I quite like Hannabal and YM's suggestions. I was thinking a trade of Bruce (his versatility is a plus, he is rated highly -though one of most overrated players in the league IMO) Robbo, love him but WC are arguably a 50 goal forward short of another flag in the next two years so he could be a bonus to them and our first pick, selection 4. Only question is, would it be enough?
  6. Sportsmanslike? LMAO. Daddy obviously didn't pay enough for your education. You're the last one to talk about what is sportsmanlike after shooting you mouth off 15 months ago and not reappearing to now. As I said earlier, as weak and soft as that turd Johnson.
  7. Wow The old Xavierian is back. Funny we haven't heard from him since he shot his mouth off before last years QB clash. They win and he's here again. This chump is about as weak and gutless as that filthy dog Johnson
  8. As I posted on 'ology: "CROWD: 46,277 What a pathetic crowd figure. What was it a bit cold? A bit wet? All the toffs didn't want to get chilly cheering for the number 9? The first Demon in our long history to play 150 games. Our longest serving captain at that and we can't even get 50,000 at the G against the filth. That is [censored]ing pathetic. Melbourne supporters should be ashamed (and this isn't directed at passionate ones like those here). This sort of [censored] justifies all the pathetic stereotypes about Melbourne supporters. The fact so few made it to the game to support Neita on his 300th just sickens me. Any of you weak fairies out there reading this (yeah you know who you are) you as weak and pathetic as that [censored]wit Ben Johnson. You're a disgrace to our club. I'm disgusted at the lack of support shown to Neita. "
  9. If you want to have a go at him, at least have the respect to spell his name correctly. FWIW I think Gardner said there'd be a review when the season is over, it is now over, no ifs or buts. Good job Paul.
  10. Along those lines. In effect saying his poor form was irrelevant as he may come good.
  11. Fagan had his contract extended along with CAC pre-season. They could easily do the selections.
  12. CAC and Fagan won't. Ahem, they are contracted and could easily do selection over the next 10 weeks.
  13. We do have something called a football department.
  14. Because Voss isn't available right now. If ND stays, which I don't think he should, he should no longer have final say at the selection table. Selection should be made by those who will be at the club next year.
  15. Every now and then a born leader comes along, when they do you should strike, even if it may be premature. Voss is one such person. A three time premiership captain who would not let any of his players get away with shirking an issue. A captain who would have spent a lot of time learning from Matthews both on the training track and from the coaches box when injured. Roos says: "Roos said there was so much that an assistant coach had to learn before he could competently tackle the main role. "There's people management, there's match day, there's staff, there's strategies, there's how to handle your fitness, your medical staff and your 38 players," he said. Roos said the senior coach had a responsibility to sponsors and to market the club. There is player management, he'll have CAC to help there. He has match day experience sitting behind Matthews. For fitness we have BB to assist. I reckon Voss knows a bit about the medical staff from experience. He's a deadset legend of the game, he'll have the players respect. He would have managed them to an extent in Brisbane, he'll just have to do it to a larger extent. As for marketing the club, it's not like Michael doesn't handle himself well with the media so that issue doesn't concern me. If we want Voss to coach at Melbourne we have to get him now. If we sign him as an assistant he'll more than likely get a senior job with others before ours became available again. We may have to put up with him learning on the job next year, but I'd wear that. Hell, all new coaches take a little bit of time to settle in, as Ross Lyon is discovering now. We need a coach that will be a breath of fresh air to the club, that will not tolerate failure and that won't back down. Voss is that man and we should sign him up for next year now (on a three year deal), before the competition come knocking on his door later this year. If need be we can bring in someone with senior coaching experience to act as a mentor, like the Hawks did with Clarkson and Parkin. To go with a new coach we need a new captain. Brock is the next captain of the MFC. Injuries or not, he is a born leader, I know I don't have to sell him here so won't. I will stress though, that like Voss he won't accept failure and he won't put up with players shirking the contest. He will have Neitz there next year too to provide help when needed, his own mentor. Rono recently wrote on how we need a revolution. Many here complain about how conservative our club is. Well this will be revolutionary and would be a huge gamble. I say stuff convention (needing an apprenticeship, captain being too young), get some balls and make the move. Throw up names like Shaw and Schimma, they're not a scratch on Voss and coached at their old clubs. I can then compare Beckham and Roy Keane. Voss most likely won't set the world on fire straight away, but he's more likely to than anyone else going around. I'm happy to put up with the learning process he'll inevitably go through (though I personally think he'll master the gig quickly) as it is the only realistic way we'll get him to come to Melbourne.
  16. There's a reason that despite being a member for many years, I've sat in the MFC designated areas very few times. Give me the outer anyday.
  17. Sydney gave a second rounder for Spider, but that's not very relevant. I was happy with the Jolly trade and am not knocking it. I am knocking ND for not throwing the gauntlet to him and giving him a lot more game time or even first ruck in 2003. A season that White was carrying an injury that could have ended his career. Why not rest him and try get it right and challenge his back up? It's probably a good thing he didn't as Jolly would have been exposed and we may not have got a first round pick, but regardless it was poor coaching and helped lead to Jolly getting disillusioned.
  18. I'm talking about when he played, isn't hard to work out from the coaching comment. Why wasn't he developed in 2003 instead of him warming the bench while our ruckman risked his career playing on one leg. Our season was in the dumps yet we continued to play White and gave Jolly little developement. That is bad coaching. As to the other trade, nice try at a diversion.
  19. Mate, anyone ever call you a corkscrew, as that's a bit of a way to twist what happened. It was poor coaching that he asked to leave.
  20. No I didn't go on Saturday, but it would help if I was in Australia. I don't think we should get rid of Jamar, he has a role to play in our team but I do find it hilarious that anyone woould label him as great. Get real.
