  1. Just heard on SEN news Pickett has been suspended for 1 week (I think) for drinking Saturday night and not attending the game on Sunday.
  2. If we win Daniher is screwing us because he’s coaching for his career. When we lose with half our side out it’s Danihers fault because he’s reactive not proactive or his game plans no good. Win or lose there are people calling for Danihers blood. A man who has been a great servant for our club over the last decade is getting a pretty rough deal at the moment.
  3. I'm certainly not a Daniher supporter but how anyone can blame him for the loss today is beyond me. Our best 2 defenders by a country mile out injured. Brock Mclean current leader and future captain out injured, our other focal point when Neitz is quiet, out injuerd. Our first pick in the "super" draft trained the house down and was in contention for a round 1 spot out injured. The shining light of the season so far Petterd 2 games, 2 blinders, rising star nomination out injured. Umpiring decisions?!?!? People will say it's easy too make excuses but you need to be realistic.
  4. I’ve only been down to Sandy once this year and I’m glad Steve Johnsons old man didn’t belt me cause I was giving it to Johnson all day. On that day Garland had a much better game than Newton. Infact Garlands started like a house on fire kicking and creating goals. Newton did very little except fly for mark of the year, he was however being played on the wing.
  5. Houli is supposed to be the first "devout" Muslim. It's a bit of a blowup.
  6. One thing that drives me crazy at the moment are our kick ins. It is a little bit difficult with Whelan and Weatley out but surely we can do something a little more creative than wait for Trav to trot back to the goal square while the other team have all the time in the world to get their zone right. When Trav gets the footy most of the time he chips it 15m to the pocket. If we’re going to chip it 15m to an intentionally unmarked man couldn’t anybody kick it? Trav hasn’t played great footy this year but I think we’re at our best when he’s getting possessions up the ground and doing some damage with them. He’s really creative when he’s running up the wing or guts because he could spear a pass at any angle and hit one of our blokes on the chest. At the moment he’s always in the back half taking kick outs or chipping it around. His man is more likely and willing to run off him and kick goals when he’s in our defensive half because he is less likely to do any damage. Green Should play in the forward line, we’ve got kids coming through that are harder than him (I’m not one that thinks Green is soft) and naturally better and getting the pill. He’s got a clean pair of hands and is a great kick for goal, surely we should be playing to his strengths. It cannot be hard for the forward coach to come up with a plan that isolates one of Neitz, Robbo or Green each time the ball comes down. Davey shouldn’t play in the midfield. He looses his explosiveness when he runs around all day and he often runs to the wrong spots. In the forward line he runs in bursts and is as fast as they come. He creates pressure on the opposition when they’re taking it out of our backline and often prevents them from setting up the play as the please. He’s normally good for 1 or 2 goals as well.
  7. It is hardly scraping into the finals if you lose your first 5 games mainly due to incredibly bad luck then come charging. I'm not saying this will happen but we'd have to be a very good side to make if from 0-5. We'll shake the finals IF we make it.
  8. Injuries Hurt Daniher's season There is a lot of hysteria floating around this site at the moment. This article contains a few interesting facts.
  9. It's not YM jinxing us, but someone sure is. If anybody who reads this site has worn the same "lucky" socks, jocks, scarf or footy jumper to our matches since say 1965 would you mind changing your routine.
  10. I went to the SCG last year when we were 0-3. Pickett played a blinder and we won. Hopefully he can turn it around for us again this year.
  11. There is a HUGE difference grazman, TJ and Davey have proven they can play at AFL level...
  12. I'm not so sure Dr, what part of his game is he lacking? If you're worried about consistancy we're playing Miller at CHF every week.
  13. That's right Bate can't be blamed, but he should not be played in the same team as Chris Johnson, neither of them can consistantly do it yet. It's frustrating watching Godfrey get a game and wondering why, but he gets it and has a physical influence.
  14. There is nothing more I would love to see than Melbourne drop C Johnson for Newton. Therer is not a chance in hell it will happen. Everyone seems to think Newton has a bad attitude and CJ is a player of the future. I disagree entirely.
  15. This always dumbfounds me. Are you suggestug Davey doesn't try when Pickect is not playing, or he only tries to play well when Pickett is out there?
  16. There is a big differnce, Brock has shown he can play, he is equal leader in time on ground disposals with Judd acording to champion data statistics. He's tough and has leadership qualities written all over him.
  17. I hate losing as much as anoyone but I'm going to go against the tide here, I was impresed with TJ today, he couldn't get a kick, he was having a dog of a day, but he still got 7 tackles. He was having a crack (I realise his direct opponents have destroyed us 2 weeks running). Whelan played the wrost game I've seen of him, it wont be repeated! We got rid of run and carry (duck and cover) I am a doubter but Brad Miller showed enough today. If he continues to take contested marks and kick staight we'll be alot better team. Chris Jonhson better show something soon at the top level. I love the father son rule despite Geelong's luck Scarlett, Ablett, Ablett , Tomerhawke . We've got Jonhnson who just doesn't get it enough and doesn't have any influence on the game whatsover. Aaron Davey was WOG in the practise match against Geelong before the season started, he couldn't get a kick against the Saints and was hopeless today. He gets a lot of media attenton but hasn't actually achieved enough to warrant it for mine. Butter fingers bate, he can get to the right position, and he can kick it a mile but I worry about his ability to grab it first up.
  18. I hate to bag anyone when they are down, particularly Melbourne players but the difference between Yze and Sylvia's second and third efforts is momentous. Sylvia never gives up, he'll flatten anyone who gets between him and the ball. Yze is forever trying to kick the ball off the ground, avoid body contact, he won't chase and was very disappointing. I always love your repots Dappa but "Sylvia was probably the best demon on the day. Resembled Poyas with hair" am I missing something? Juice didn't have a great day but took a speccy when the game was really in the balance. He almost took mark of the year in the first quarter but just missed it. For those that haven't seen him yet it is worth going down to the TBO just to watch him. There is no doubt he will be a freak player. Garland started like a house on fire. He played his second year of footy last season after quitting in the under 13's. He hasn't played alot of footy but I like what I see. Paul Johnson almost cost Sandy the game today he made 2 costly mistakes in a minute. He did however take 2 over head contested marks one of them was quite spectacular and he handballed it off to a running player before he even hit the ground. At 3/4 time in the huddle Johnson really took control of the midfield group and demonstrated some real leadership qualities. Pickett didn't get a run in the last quarter and didn't do enough to warrant a game at Melbourne. Warnock if you haven't got anything nice to say...
  19. I don't think Bate is over rated, nor do I think he is slow. He knows how to get the footy and he can kick it a mile. He is a player that really has a massive upside. Having said that I don't think he is in our best 22. He always seems to have the fumbles particulalry below the knees. Everyone says we can't play 2 of Ward, Godfrey or the Browndog in the same team, I don't think we can play Bate and Johnson in the same team they both have potential but neither of them have done the job consistantly yet.
  20. Brad Green on SEN said Pickett passed his skin fold and fitness tests a couple of weeks ago and will line up in round 1. Rivers is doubtful with hamstring soreness.
  21. To be honest I thought the Geelong game was the worst he has ever played in the red and blue. He seemed to be running around like a headless chook. IMO he is suited to the forward pocket not further up the ground. He is most likely (I have nothing to back up my argument) the fastest player in the league over 20 - 30 metres. When he is running around all day in the midfield he is still lightning fast, but he loses the explosiveness that sets him apart from everyone else. Having said that if a game was in the balance at a pivotal time I'd be happy if Daniher sent Davey up the field to mix things up and add some spark to our midfield.
  22. Real intimdation is our best, silkiest midfielder running through anyone who gets in his way, just as Travis did.
  23. Not much of a concern I hear he'll be back in 4 2 6
