  1. Port don't want to pick anyone up as a free agent - it'll hurt what they've got coming back to them from the loss of Chaplin and Pearce. Thomas is a terrific trainer, has a great attitude, works hard, loves doing anything for the various other parts of the club (media, promo, etc). He's not the greatest footballer but I reckon he'd be starting 22 for us. If we can get him and Surjan for Moloney that'd be great.
  2. At a rough estimate based on 2012 form, Hogan would be likely top 4 next year alongside Martin, Kelly, and Billings, who unlike the other three is not eligible for mini-draft selection. Hogan stands out cos he's not a mid - he's a giant key forward built like a brick outhouse. If we do get him in the next few weeks, does he stay on WA in 2013 to continue schooling or does he move to Victoria straight away?
  3. He works super-hard but his disposal is appalling and he's selfish around goal. He's yet another good ordinary player of which we have far too many. He will, I'm sure, remain on the list far longer than he should.
  4. Go the Legs. This wil be Bassett's last game in charge as he's headed to Hawthorn, from all reports, to continue his ascendancy up the coaching ranks. Is rated VERY highly and is a likely future senior coach at AFL level.
  5. The combine results showcase endurance, speed, etc. and help separate the players who'll be picked up for athletic more than footballing ability. It might help firm up in the minds of recruiters what the difference is between a top 10 and a top 30 player in a really even year like 2012.
  6. First thing Beamer should do I'd say is sack his manager. He's stuffed Moloney's career all year - probably since last year when he tried to get him to the Bombers. It's really sad to watch it play out.
  7. Want. Can play. Kicks it like Sticks Kernahan, marks it like Loewe, injured like Gumbleton. If he can get over the latter, he'll be a gun. Possible scenarios would be: - Swap #4 and a player who'd be fringe best 22 for him and Jacobs - #4 and #13 for butcher, Jacobs, port's #7 pick I'd be loathe to do either of these sorts of deals, but the power will want something good for him - he's rated very highly and is under contract. Saying all this, don't expect him to leave.
  8. Yep, Richmond clearly reckon they're a lot closer than I reckon they are - they're going for stop-gap solutions. Might work. Might not. Chaplin is a lovely guy but he turns the ball over, is pretty slow, and was out-bodied and out-marked by Gold Coast's Matera, who is 15cm smaller and 20kg lighter than him last year. Do not want.
  9. Would give us some outside run, but no defensive side whatsoever.
  10. No. No no no no no. Isn't quick, isn't tough, kicking has become average at best over the last several years, wrong side of 25 for our current list development.
  11. I miss Garry McIntosh, the best footballer I've ever seen never play in the AFL.
  12. He might be taller than Magner, Jones, the departing Moloney, Couch et al but his basic game style is the same - see ball, get ball. He'd serve a purpose on our list - tough, no nonsense attack on the footy but he doesn't add anything spectacular.
  13. Stiller would fit right in amongst our small nugget-like midfielders. He's tough as nails too, but he's ANOTHER player whose level of skill by foot is just not up to AFL standard.
  14. Shown very little in two years at the Power. Very good at the lower SANFL level but continues to look like an error prone nervous Nellie at AFL level. His disposal coming off half back has on occasion been okay, but sometimes truly atrocious. Very James Strauss - when he has time and space he's okay but the minute physical pressure goes on him he panics and turns it over. Where's the rumour coming from? I've yet to see it being reported.
  15. Yes, I thought the players utilised in the video spoke volumes too.
  16. i'm amazed at the instant rejection of gumbleton on this board. if he arrived at the dees, he'd automatically be the second most skillful tall target we have inside 50. he has nous, he has skill, he's hungry for the ball - the only thing his injuries seem to have robbed him of is his leap. as a kid he was a hell of an aerialist. whether it's confidence to leap or an inability to do so remains to be seen. if he's recovered from his injuries, as he would seem to be, he'd be a great pick up for the dees. let's not forget that our key forward for the second half of 2012 was a defender his entire previous career. our forward stocks are atrocious. i realise that we probably won't get him - essendon will want pick #13, which is laughable - but i'd love to be proven wrong somehow.
  17. I haven't left the club - still a member, still seen games, still get the kids toys, clothing, etc. But I just don't have faith that we can be lifted out of our current malaise for a long, long time.
  18. No doubt a premiership would avail me of my apathy, but I just can't see how likely that is. I don't rate our list and I remain sceptical about our coaches. Essentially, I desperately want to be proven wrong about our Demons.
  19. Nope, not unconditional. Can't imagine supporting another club - just a fan in general of our great game these days. The incompetence and inability to get the basic fundamentals of being a club right have killed my love for the club. I don't admire them any more, be it the players, the coaches, the staff or the board. I think it's fair to say I'm entirely disenfranchised.
  20. Pick 2, wasn't he? If we can get him cheap enough, he'd definitely be worth a chance for 2 years. It's not like we have any other key forwards on the list.
  21. i remember not too long ago the inner sanctum was talking up cale morton as a centre half forward. let's face facts - we've stuffed up, repeatedly, at the draft, and we've failed to develop players we have drafted. losing scully was a big blow, but if viney does fall into the second round for us it's arguable that we've 'won' as a result of picking up someone such as toumpas and / or wines at picks #3 and #4. however, while hogan makes sense in terms of securing a likely future gun, it's a classic case of robbing peter to pay paul - we lose access to a quality mid to gain a quality tall...and we can't play him for a further year.
  22. Just another fringe player. Should go, adds very little to our list.
