  1. i think you are right on the money here Macca.
  2. I agree with what is said above...but when does human nature in anything regress. It doesn't. The running game evolved with the era of the professional footballer. Sports Science will work out another way to keep players running without rotations. I am not saying it is right but KB or anyone is delusional if they believe they can return the game to a one on one contest.
  3. Me thinks he made a bad mistake. Whilst the bloated one (thanks for that gem rpfc) was away young angry should have kept the main seat warm & answered the phone taking all messages faithfully. Made coffee and doughnuts for the employees and journos. The fact he engaged a full investigation into a rule that has not been written was not good for his CV. that said i cannot still believe that AD did not put a stop to it,hours after it commenced. Maybe he wanted Angry to go....
  4. etihad stadium has fast tracked the 2 tiered ladder we are now staring at as a reality. Of the bottom clubs i believe the MFC has the only chance of rising because our home is the MCG. If we had been shunted by Jackson & co around 2000 to Colonial Stadium the MFC would be dead by now. Nought and Footscray are walking corpses at this stage.
  5. Whatever the figure is i am still trying to work out the incentive of the NT Government to hand over such a large sum of greenbacks. Is it part of there annual advertising budget or is it purely tax relief. And if these deals can be arranged then the fiasco at the docklands where tennants pay if the attendance is under 30,000 is a complete disgrace.
  6. that is exactly my point OD. Jose is talking in terms of long term deals (10 years +-) that is great on a whiteboard. But this club does not have 10 years to slowly turn this around. It has to be quicker. On & off the ground. If the Hawks can pull themselves off the canvas so can we. For all the hard work being done, it is not enough. I thank HG for handing on this info...the shareholders need to know. I am not knocking $700,000 G's btw...at all.
  7. i agree, but i doubt coaching strategies will regress. Players will keep running with less rotations. That is dangerous territory in one game, let alone a season.
  8. exactly, but these deals happen so often. Canberra Cairns Darwin Tassie, big $$$. Maybe it is purely a tax relief operation. But the $$$ is there. I do nt blame the club for taking it for one minute. But a net gain of 160 members over 4 seasons does ring alarm bells with me.
  9. talk to the coaches dc not me. The modern strategy is to run in waves not to play man on man. How did it evolve? When the interchange bench was bought in.
  10. interesting point. I am fascinated with these "Government Stadium deals" is it 3 hours of TV time they are paying for. With crowds of 6,000 it just seems strange, but they happen australia wide so there is something in it.
  11. yes that is possible, but it could also be said that the marketing strategy is not bold enough. Do you think 40+- members a year is acceptable? I like to expect more than that. The days of throwing coins into a blanket at 3/4 time are a distant memory...
  12. you are not taking into account how far a modern footballer runs in a game. It's not rubbish. You either have an interchange bench or return to 19th & 20th men. You can't have both imo
  13. Jose i am not disagreeing with what you say above. But 160 members in 4 years is not good, that is what should be signed up in one game at a VFL level. We are dealing with other clubs who have 50-75,000 members. The strategy is not working is my point. That is a cold hard fact if the membership figure is correct.
  14. look i am all for new new openings and i backed the move to Darwin, but we should have got 160 members at the first game. To be at that level now after 3-4 seasons is a very bad look. Another Question for the AGM.
  15. trouble is the game is not a one on one contest anymore. Clubs will not be pleased.
  16. 160 members in 3 years or is it 4??Lift ya horizons Jose please...
  17. 160 members in Darwin...woohoo. What happened to the China initiative. This club thinks small and will remain so.
  18. yes. Hawk Talk can go into meltdown all year now!!
  19. Kevin Bartlett wins again. Exhausted players is his wish.
  20. the only people who have said we tanked are the media. In 2008-09 the club put itself in the position to win no more than 4 games a season. That it did. We all knew it and discussed it regularly.
  21. Nobody is denying what happened In 2008-09 Baghdad. Just the way Wilson wrote about it. Big difference.
  22. we need to make our own patch OD. Not wait for somebody elses keys. We already reneged on the Lexus Centre precinct. Not a good move at all.
  23. i have been thinking of our China deal today also...Get in there. One game a year..
  24. is that what it's called. Why would i want to drink at Punt Road? I spell it with a c.
