  1. i am sure the MFC could have found the money if the right people had been spoken to. They weren't. Take a look at Hawthorn after '96. It can be done. A risk yes. But good things are worth it. We are where we are because we did not learn after '96. It took till 186 until the Footy Department was sorted.
  2. yes that was the exact problem. But did anybody bother to ask? Not a word as i remember.
  3. because it is a very small number in terms of AFL Football. FCS lift your game people, look up instead of down. We have to get more popular otherwise the club will die ok. As the oldest club in the world we should have at least double the membership we have. To gain 160 members in 4 years is a sad joke, and i hate saying that.
  4. mate we should have found the money, this was Previous boards biggest mistakes. They did not engage the supporters. We collectively could have all raised money to be in the Lexus Precinct, but instead the decision was made that it was too hard. And we are paying big time for it now. Those extra years at the junction...my god!
  5. i know. I have lived in the kimberleys many years ago...that is another concern. I get the impression we are up there because no one else wanted it.
  6. I wonder if Angry Anderson is "hiding in Mexico until this blows over"...
  7. you must now watch the Films "Spotswood" "Don's Party" & the oft forgot "The odd angry shot"Enjoy the ride we are on the left here.
  8. i agree entirely. But i do hope that the club is not Happy with that figure (i mean it = 40 per year!!) & plans to be far more innovative i n the coming years. This is the AFL we are talking here.
  9. ok. Then let the club tell the members exactly what is unfolding. Because 160 members in 4 years doesn't look good at all.
  10. shallow i don't think so. Alarm bells are ringing in the distance. Could be the question i ask at next weeks AGM because i do not consider 160 members in 4 years even if you do.
  11. i have no problem with the club asking its own supporters for sponsorship possibilities. Right now is the time supporters have got to be at the forefront.
  12. sure i get that. But it is not a long term strategy. For crowds of 6.000 i am still working out how the NT Government can part with $700,000 There must be a reason but a tax write off is all i can see at this point.
  13. fair enough. I just do not see membership conversion in the NT. And it is membership we do need..not in 5-10 years we need to increase it now. Otherwise this old beast will never rise. If the club is content with this strategy i am fascinated and a little shocked tbh.
  14. could it be that Richmond Port & the bulldogs have realized it is a dead end market. Jose you can't seriously be happy with a total of 160 members so far after 4 years.
  15. then we are wasting our time...again. Whilst other clubs grow. We just never get the marketing right. We take the leftovers too often.
  16. munga i agree with what you are saying, but i just don't see the coaches or fitness staff slowing the game down. The FIA has been trying to slow down Formula one cars for years, but lap records are still broken. Less rotations will exhaust players and increase injury chances imo. Your idea of time limits has some good merit if it can be monitored strictly.
  17. so what are the long term benefits of being up there if there is only a potential of +-1000 members to tap into apart from an NT Government pay out?Fighting for such a small market share seems a little strange.
  18. its not me. I do not want a restriction on interchange rotations. I want players to go flat out.
  19. no i was comparing what we have done compared to the Kangas on the same timeframe. China is something we should never give up on.
  20. because you want players to stop running. Stand still. I do not think that will happen.
  21. but how do you stop a player from being in a certain part of the ground? That will change the game completely to something akin to American Football. It is not our game.Once the 19th & 20th men were phased out the player staying in one position was done.
  22. and we have 160. That's why i am concerned...
  23. i agree. What worries me is the fact that only 160 members have been signed in all the time we have been up there. I am shocked if that number is correct. Do you know the number of Tassie Kangaroo members at this point?
  24. I will always be amazed that Vlad did not stop this whilst in the UK. Whatever the outcome.
  25. but zoning is a way to stop running. I do not think it will happen.
