Sure about that? I would reckon a bung knee might inhibit pushing back into a contest.

Actually Artie, I criticised his kicking AND decision making which btdemon has outlined pretty well now so I won't repeat it. You're the one who insisted he was an elite kick and focussed the conversation on his kicking. It's interesting you don't have any issue with Bate being on the list. Now, given the opportunity to get on to his preferred foot Bate is an elite kick: penetrating and accurate. The problem is that he now lacks the athleticism to get on to his preferred side, and that's the point about Maric - it's not what a player can do some of the time, it's what he does do most of the time. I'd also like to renounce the thread title "list clogger". I used it because that's how it started on 'ology. Let's call em good VFL players. I'd be rapt if Bate or Maric proved me wrong but I can't see it happening.
-
I understand your point but maybe it's just a bit subtle for you - I am saying Fitzpatrick looks like a bloke whose body may not let him get there - but I am not suggesting he is a clogger. I fear his body makes him marginal but time will tell. And that would be 'contradict' BTW, not contravene. As to Maric's some time good disposals - I acknowledged that earlier this year he had me rethinking my view of him. But his misses far outweigh his hits. He was a repeat offender Friday with and without pressure. I am sure we will see more of him but for me he is going to be one of those litmus players - if he is in the side we will still have a fair way to go.
-
You have a problem with English Comprehension? Re Fitzpatrick - said his body may not be up to it - he appears injury prone but I hoped he made it. Re Lucas Cook - I explicitly said we should not be judging those who have not debuted - OK this was said in reference to Tom McDonald but I figured any native English speaker could extrapolate that to all those who have not debuted. As to credibility and Maric's disposal, take a look at Friday night's tape. And try not to be so mouthy in future. Mine was a serious attempt to start a discussion, not a slanging match. Why is it that so many can't exchange opinions without working up some 'tude?

Some ratbag on 'ology (normally a damn fine site) started a thread with this title and included Aaron Davey in her list. I mean really, if we are going to do these exercises let's keep a sense of balance. And let's not go overboard and name names for the sake of it - 'ology also had Tom McD on the list and I reckon we should at least give the non-debutants a chance. My confirmed list cloggers are, sadly, Bate: had hopes for him but while he did a couple of good things Friday night - quick hands to Jurrah for a goal, strong contested mark on the wing - and is a penetrating kick, he just does not have the leg speed, agility or clean hands needed these days; Maric: really when I first saw him I thought he was no good at all, and then this year he started to find a bit of it kicking a goal or two most weeks and I had to doubt first impressions, but it's clear now that his disposal and decision making are not up to it; Newton: I am sorry, but anyone arguing this guy is learning is kidding themselves. Yes he has learned to tackle but he is not an instinctive attacker of the ball. So many times he showed us Friday night he cannot make a contest if caught even slightly out of position. He is not quick enough - in the mind I mean, he needs to know what he is going to do a few seconds before it happens otherwise he is a non-presence. And when he has kicked a small bag in the twos many of them have been rover's goals where he has been out of position and got lucky. I reckon he has worked hard and will be a good VFL player but we have to move on and give Howe a go asap Strauss: just a bad pick really. Nicholson on Friday night did not do a lot but you know what? Nicho LOOKED LIKE he belonged. Strauss doesn't. That's it. Only four definite cloggers for me. Warnock is needed as a back up until someone younger and better is able to man up the monsters and I have fond memories of his better games although he does seem jumpy now (in a bad way). Fitzpatrick might just be injury prone but he is looking marginal - I hope he can get a clear run and show us something although it seems his body may not be up to it. I want to see if Morton can get back up to the pace of it although many have a question mark over him. Wona too is marginal - really has to build up his endurance. OK that's it. What do others think?

The rank foolishness of comments like this - and that of RR who slags off Davey - is why I rarely comment these days. The administrators of this site delete remarks where posters have shots at each other but moron statements like this should be the real targets.

not my experience - possibly a dud run in your case, maybe ask for another set

Scully's management to talk to Melbourne this week
pitmaster replied to SoNotFunny's topic in Melbourne Demons
Speaking from personal experience, Mike Sheehan sometimes tells you more than he knows. -
No question she needs help. It's pointless trying to diagnose just what is wrong with her but adjectives such as manipulative, deceitful and self-destructive apply. Some sort of personality disorder is at work here. None of that excuses Nixon or anyone else - in fact it makes Nixon's involvement worth. As well as emotionally dishonest she is highly vulnerable and by the time Nixon arrived on the scene all that was known.
-
This is an amazing error of judgement. Nixon was the first high profile player manager and really brought that side of football into the limelight, what, 15 years ago? That he has put himself in this position is unbelievably dumb. Is testosterone really that mind-numbing? Guess so. It is time we stopped describing the young woman in the saga as a "17 year old girl" however. She is old well beyond her years.

[Fair dinkum, articles like this should make us all Proud To Be A Demon. For me the best line in it is from Brett Badger:"The Demons have been absolutely fantastic for, and with, him." It speaks to the sincerity of the club in building a relationship with Liam and his people. Wonderful stuff And Nathan Jones has gone up in my estimation - his piece about the effect on him of attending Matthew Wonaemirri's funeral shows him in a very mature and sensitive light.
-
How misguided was that little push! At the time some of us said he was well past it. He'd have been a disaster. What was the best the Sheedy-push could offer? He'd bring us publicity. Feeling very vindicated.

What do you expect? At least it's in Melbourne.

Yuendumu kids join dees in clubrooms.
pitmaster replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sounds like they were wonderful scenes in the rooms but acc to Saturday's Age a lot of the Yuendumu community were displaced by civil disturbance (read a riot)last year and are still around Adelaide waiting to go home. So we can't be sure how much the club had to do with it _ i'd like to think something but all those kids with their faces painted red and blue is a great sight. -
Has all the hallmarks of an end of season embarrassment if they don't get the sweet run with injuries they had in 2010. You'd never know 2010 was a couple of lucky bounces away from a St Kilda premiership.
-
Then you're not one of those calling him gumboots.

FWIW

Eddie may have done us a favour. He has elevated the speculation to a new level. This is going to be an enormous distraction for the kid. Scully might want to announce his intentions earlier than otherwise was going to happen - either he recommits to Melbourne or he lets it be known he is going. The sooner the better whatever it is.
-
That;s just it, you are mistaken. Barassi left for the opportunity to coach and was encouraged to do so by the falling out he saw take place at Melbourne between Norm Smith and one of his predecessors, and chairman of selectors, Checker Hughes. Smith and Barassi talked it through at a time Smith appeared secure at Melbourne - although events proved them both wrong.

Good stuff. Speaks for many of us. I long ago stopped reading MFC history. For too long it's all that has sustained us. It's time to write some new chapters.

Drake is right. The "Olympic" northern stand is clearly better. I generally sit in the MCC area on the same level as the President's Club but a few sections away obviously, and it's a sensational spot for watching the game. When the stand was being rebuilt after the demolition of the original Olympic stand I took a reserved seat in the southern stand. Good, but not AS good imo. Given the choice, I'd go north side.
-
Precisely. Others have made valid points but her tone aside, the thing that always bugged me about her was her resort to old football cliches. There was nothing fresh or original in what she had to say. Sorry to see she is still going to do some work with the ABC - that'll drag them down.

Carlton's story just underlines how much you need going right to really make it in this competition. That said, Frawley is as central as anyone to our make up now. I was a big Warnock fan when he arrived. It was great to see someone make the most of his chance. If he can rediscover that form in Chip's absence there would be a silver lining.
