Not strange that he wants to go to Adelaide. It's where his mob is. Can't see RR's Magpie outcome happening. It's a blow for us, a big one. And to those who were wondering, he was paying for his own legal case, we were not backing it. Also, we won't get much for him if anything at all. Who is going to trade for a bloke facing a possible, (but unlikely) jail sentence? But be warned, I hear there is WORSE TO COME.

But if you meant Daniher into Bailey why would you say successions? Why not successive? Wacky. Well yeah, I am about done with you since you're reverting to abuse but when you say there is no one at the club with influence over the present group who goes beyond the Danners and Bails years you are omitting the ceo who goes back to the strong recruiting of the 80s. But there you go. Suck on that.
-
Hmmm...well English is my first language...and, er, you did say failure was the fault of "successions" of FDs and coaches. Get it...plural of successive? That sounds like more than two run together, that sounds like a pattern over generations. So go back, read what you really wrote rather than what you think you wrote. Like I said earlier: you shifted the goalposts so lose the 'tude, dude.
-
Reckon Rivers who did a regular job as demanded by the coaching staff would have to be in there. Could easily out McDonald (most improved) or Clark.
-
So you're talking about those who had an influence on the current crop? Well you didn't say that, did you? Only three attempts but you got there. Daniher, like Neeld, set out to overcome what he saw as poor culture. He had as many good years as Northey, but like I said, Danhier stayed too long and failed to develop players. His indulgence of Yze and White was lousy, although he might say a reflection of lack of depth. So your point is that we have been rotten with what, three years of Danners and four of Bailey? That's it? Kinda stating the obvious but I'll agree as far as it goes.

Melbourne Supporters Are Too Accepting of Player Non-Performance

You're becoming intolerable. -
You're shifting the goal posts. You were whingeing about the failed efforts of successive coaches and football departments. What does successive mean other than going back a few? I offered you two examples of of those that worked. Now you want to whinge about going back to Northey? Apart from Daniher (briefly successful) and Balme who else is there? Bailey. Read your own stuff and try to make sense of that!!
-
Northey's record speaks for itself - five successive campaigns deep into finals with a dearth of stars. He took us to the GF in his third season and with Duursma chb in a GF for goodness' sake! Remember they made the 1990 final series with successive victories over Hawthorn, then the reigning double premier - or maybe you forgot. He built a strong enough team that even lazy Balmey looked like a coach in 1994. So back at you big boy! Daniher? From wooden spoon to a prelim to a GF from the woodshed facilities at the Junction. Yeah, right back at you with interest.
-
That is BS, BB. Successions of inept FDs and coaches? Don't think so. Balme was a dud, despite one finals campaign, but Daniher was a good coach who stayed too long and who failed to rebuild. Northey over achieved - a terrific coach who overcame great shortcomings in personnel and resources. Barassi and Jordan did rebuild the joint. The lousy coaching came earlier. Ridley and Skilton had fleeting success but the club was overtaken by greater professionalsim elsewhere. It's far too early to talk about Neeld's tenure - he could be anything. The Messiah or another False Dawn.

It's not a question of accepting rubbish - it's a matter of trying to see progress and understand what the club is doing.

I missed the Freo game live so the first thing I did was get on to this site to learn what I had missed. The reports were very negative so rather than read on I flicked on the replay. The first quarter was better than expected after reading this site . The umpires got them off to a slightly undeserved flier. Dunn’s reflexes too quick for his own good in giving away a 50 metre penalty. Howe was pulled out of a contest by the serial cheat McPhee on the edge of the goal square. One goal gifted to them; one denied us. We backed ourselves with run and overlap once we were settled. The semblance of an attacking game is starting to emerge, Sylvia, Grimes and Tom Mac all worked hard and were effective. Nicholson won plenty of it but his disposal by hand and foot is dreadful. I kept thinking what a difference Mitch Clark would make to this line up. Watts much better than Demonland would have me believe, working both ends of the ground and attacking contests even though he did not get a lot of it. We played hard contested football, Nicholson’s second quarter spoils were strong. Grimes, Trengove and Sylvia all continued strongly but it is the simple lack of reliable marking targets that undermines our time in the forward 50. If there’s no one to rove to there’s not much the roving types can do. So far I have only watched the first half. Sandilands destroyed us but we had an underdone Jamar against him. POSITIVES: ,more contests, more run, Grimes looking more and more of a leader, Fitzpatrick might well be a player - interesting to have big Mitch around him, Nicholson’s attack on the ball, stronger bodies than we had in the first half of the season, Tom Mac, Blease continues to show some dash and self belief. NEGATIVES: nothing new here: too little support and run for Jones in the middle although Jordie Mac works hard in the contests; no consistent forward structure to speak of – Green’s absence was notable even though he was not the tall target Clark would be. If I can stand to watch the second half might add some more. FINAL COMMENT: Ross Lyon is a smug [censored] – glad now the Aints let him down and will enjoy Geelong kicking his butt back west next week. Oh, and Zac Dawson is a fraud of a footballer.

good pick up.

Fair enough, but Adelaide is a hole. Who'd wanna live there? And Port eats its own. Taking them on as an outsider would be doubly fraught. If he did not want that entire basket case then I'd be happy if he took on part of our basket case since I remember him having our mids firing like they never have since.
-
Agree - unless there is some serious development in prospect he is just making up numbers.

I believe rusting hull would do the trick.

That Greene episode was a very ugly moment. Thanks (not) for reminding me. It did reek of lack of will. But I still hold out hope for Watts. Look what happened to the Bombres when they tried to fast track their fitness rebuild - ran off a cliff. Hopefully our fitness crew are playing a smarter game but it will still take a couple of years to build the bodies we and JW need.
-
Today was a clear demonstration of how we are under sized and not equipped to play the game as it is now played. A real condemnation of Dean Bailey. To their credit the boys showed some flair and skill early but could not compete all day against those big bodied forwards and midfielders.
-
Had a shocker but had little support and was caught out one on one against bigger opponents. They were well drilled and set up incredibly effectively. Chip will just have to put this down as one of those days.
-
Much as I hate to agree with TU, for us to be close at the finish would require a huge form reversal over the rubbish we put out last week. Having said that, I also believe.
-
And much of the truth of it lies in Yuendumu.
-
For accuracy's sake let it be noted that it was Liam's lawyer, Jon Tippett, who said he was a victim of tall poppy syndrome. The magistrate said nothing of the sort.
-
This talk of delisting is nonsense and will not happen. Whatever else, the club will stand by Liam until he goes to trial. After that, anything is possible but we owe it to him as one of US to support him and give him every chance to make the most of his potential. I too, hoped the trial might be this year but since that is not to be we must hang on a tad longer. We all know the evidence against him appears questionable and there is at least a 50:50 chance of acquittal. Ask yourselves what would Jimmy do? And when you think about how he went about building bridges to the Yuendumu community the answer is obvious.
-
Age is reporting trial date set for March 12, to run for nine days.

The Western Bulldogs - Under the radar to the point of...
pitmaster replied to 45HG's topic in Melbourne Demons
Winning would be sensational. I have hated Adelaide ever since we pantsed them in '98 only to see a quirk of the finals gift them the chance to go back to back. And I would be rapt to go above the 'Dogs. Viney can wait. Winning is all that counts.
