Watching Swans and Pies replay and I am struck by the Citi symbol on the Swannies jumper. You are such a know all RR that I thought I'd give this a bump and maybe bump up some humility for your goodself since this 09 post was in response to my suggestion that Citi could work for us.
-
Exactly. First took the ball in the centre of the goal square and was put around on an absurd angle. The crowd at the GF breakfast the following week erupted when the mark was replayed. They knew we were dudded - although Tony Campbell and others contributed to our dudding with missed gimmes.

I don't think the conspiracy theory on this thread has any merit but the umpiring was ordinary at the Hawks game. The main offender was the bubble-headed bloke, Matthew Nicholls, who comes from the northern suburbs of Melbourne. He clearly had different interpretations for the competing clubs, gave a very soft 50 metre penalty to the Hawks and ignored one for the Crows. He was the main reason frees were running two to one Hawks way early. I noticed after half time he paid a couple to the Crows - maybe he was 'counselled' at the main break. Like so many an inconsistent hack. His two mates were mostly OK.

You're rewriting history. Ball was interested only in Cwood.

Herald Sun reports Gysberts to be shown the door...Neeld has gone mad!!!
pitmaster replied to Tex's topic in Melbourne Demons
I like his intensity. You could be very uncomfortable under that gaze. -
Has Rassilon worked it out yet? Oh what entertainment he is.

I was told they used a new voting system this year: the four senior coaches rating the players from one to seven each week. So the maximum possible votes any round was 28. So Jurrah maybe got two votes from each of the four. Interesting that Gysberts one game yielded just six votes, possibly 2 x 2 and 2 x 1. No-one rated him much.
-
That should be a lesson for some of the haters on this website, that they don't always know what is being asked of a player. I suspect Dunn polled the lion's share of his votes in the latter part of the season. Can anyone who was there shed light on that?

Jones wins followed by Rivers and Grimes. If he goes Riv will be missed big time. Think Green Moloney Rivers departing a team lacking experience!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
pitmaster replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
in which case crows bid pick 2 for viney? (or does the timetable not suit?) -
Why is this ridiculous thread still active? Oh, sorry, I just reactivated it...but really, anyone taking seriously the idea of us trading Jurrah anywhere must have spent the past six months on another planet. Maybe I'll just note down those who seem to think it's possible so i can discount anything else they ever post.

He may have been wearing an MFC tie at lunch, but discussing the 'Roos at the weekend he used the word "we". Possibly he forgot they were North Melbourne.

A reformed Morton who was sensational yesterday. Watching that game I could not help but wonder if Neeld was seeing it and if so if he might think Cale was worth persisting with.
-
I don't mind this discussion but in future can we say "players who are no longer good enough" if we're talking about people like Aaron Davey, because there was a time when he was sensational. It's wrong to lump such players in with those such as Cook. And yes, I support what Neeld is doing.

Sorry but it's been my experience that an MBA is the most over-hyped piece of self approving garbage devised by humankind. I have not yet met anyone equipped with said certificate who had an original idea or anything useful to contribute. Common as muck, too, like a ticket of entry to some level of management but otherwise useless like many of the individuals who boast them. As for the psych testing shock, as an attack on the MFC by C Wilson, it was laughable. Norm Smith would have done badly out of psych testing on all but competitiveness measures. Empathy - had none. Judgemental - damn right. Elitist and punitive - yes, sir. Plenty of attributes that would not 'test' well but stood him in great coaching stead.

Only had 7 games with them. ,Hardly played often. Failed to ever show a thing with us

He was my litmus player for Richmond. Looks like the Tiges might be going somewhere after all.

Justifies our draft compensation though.

But I hear the body's rooted.

That was [censored] poor by MS. McLean has given three or four explanations for leaving and MS would have known of the earlier stuff but has chosen to ignore it (or he IS that dumb). As for their efforts last night with Anderson, they were just pumping up their own tyres. They have a vested interest now in bringing us some hurt so it will make them look like major players. Such major players that went to air four and a half hours after the Jurrah story broke and they still did not have it.

It's tough people turning on Aaron Davey in all this. There are no implications for him at all. This is pure and simple Liam's issues with his extended family or clan. This episode makes me resent Hawthorn all the more though. Famously reluctant to recruit indigenous players, when they do finally overcome their reluctance they get Cyril and Buddy. Man they can pick em. And our unfortunate history with indigenous players continues: Bamblett, Charles, Farmer, Wona, Liam...all great talents who were unable to fulfil their potential with us. That history makes the successes of Matty Whelan and Flash all the greater. As for Kel Lawrence, he was a homesick kid who couldn't adjust. There's no deeper meaning in his departure. I do think we might have a dose of the Rendells, albeit unspoken, from here on in. I wish Liam well but I reckon he has blown his career. Come next March 22 (when the jury will be settling in to consider a verdict) I doubt he will be in any shape to resume with Port, so that's next year SANFL at best. And so far as Flash goes, the flame is out and the body tired, so we may not see much of him in 2013, the last year of his contract, But I hope people respect him for what he has done rather than bag him for what his body will no longer allow him to do.
-
Except that if as the club statement says, he reckons he can't commit to AFL until his case is over no-one could commit to him. Even with forewarning we probably could not have bluffed a trade through.
-
Jurrah to Adelaide makes no sense. They are top four, travelling well and don't need his soap opera with all its distractions. Port might take a chance but not until 2014 when he's 25 and two years out of the AFL system even if he plays SANFL. That presumes he does avoid a conviction which I think he will. While his talent means Port would not rule him out entirely I reckon they'd be wary. He has treated us poorly although the pressures on him we probably can't understand. Surely he'd have been better able to fund his legal defence if he was still contracted with us. In a football sense I am with those who suspect we have seen the best of him.

I hope we're not shy come list trimming time
pitmaster replied to Keepin up with the Joneses's topic in Melbourne Demons
You''re first nine is close to the mark I reckon, but keep Morton (coach seems to want to perist) and promote Davey from your bottom eight into those going and there's your nine. Add Rivers who is said to be out and you have ten. No more change needed. -
No. On a closer reading of this thread I see Hells Gates has raised the same thing I heard - that Rivers wants out. It's only a rumour but a serious one I believe.
