  1. You're so clever. I hope the AFL embraces your ideas as clearly you know what you're talking about.
  2. I agree - I dont understand the posts I read before forum games about "Ive got some mates who are gun footballers coming down" etc etc. Ive been a poster on this forum for a few years now but dont play the forum games because I play footy at a high level, which to me doesnt seem in the spirit of the whole thing. My understanding was that its a social game meant to be fun between forums, and to give people who wouldnt otherwise get the chance to play a competitive game of football the chance to do so?
  3. I'll do the same - am leaving for shanghai on saturday morning for business but after much internal debate Ive decided I can justify a small amount of leisure whilst there
  4. I trust Jack's kicking almost as much as anyone else in the team. Probably our most accurate, and daring kick.
  5. Looks like many have heeded the call Rollo - on that basis I'll humbly step aside. Best of luck! Benny
  6. Hey Rollo - Happy to be on stand by as an emergency if the team's short Benny
  7. Re: Warnock - hes's not happy, and will accept a trade if it comes up. Unsure at this stage whether he will request a trade, but he's definitely weighing his options up
  8. Sounds pretty nefarious. What "external interests" could a 22 yo full time AFL footballer have that would take priority?
  9. Its not groundbreaking news, but Warnock will be listening to offers this trade period and will go if guaranteed a spot in another sides 22
  10. Bruce and Gysberts also pretty stiff. What a nightmare selection is going to be in the coming years..
  11. I did the same thing, and have us 6 points clear in round 21??? Surely I must have been too tough on sydney, adelaide and north but at least shows 8th is a distinct possibility.
  12. So what do we need? I still believe we badly need a David Neitz type of player ie large body, very strong, quick lead, strong mark, long accurate kick. There Is no-one on our list that's near that except maybe Fitzpatrick when he matures. Secondly, a second ruck. I don't believe either meesen or Spencer cut the mustard here. PJ potentiaaly might - it will be intersting to see how he performs at the weekend. Gawn is a long term (ie 3-5 years IMO) but extremely promising prospect but we need someone in the next 2-3 years capable of dominating finals football ie a Jolly type. I don't believe we have one on our list at the moment. What do others think? Any other gaps? Any players in particular we should target?
  13. Nope - it was grimes for travis
  14. Hahaha, I'll pay that
  15. Im not anonymous - a lot of people here know who I am or have met me before at one of the forum games.
  16. Seeing young Jack: drooling drunk on a weeknight when he had training the following day; challenging friends to drinking contests; and smashing down shots like they were going out of fashion, makes me think that he may have some attitude problems. However he has plenty of time to get it right so not a great deal of concern Sorry for adding the above - sick of people deluding themselves
  17. Watts IN, Dunn OUT. Fellow Demonlanders, rejoice
  18. Where has he been touted as a potential number 1 pick??
  19. Garland Warnock Rivers Morton Frawley Grimes Davey Moloney Scully Sylvia Bate Green Jurrah Watts Davey R: Jamar Mcdonald Trengove Int: Jones Mckenzie Petterd Bruce (would love to replace him, but even his most staunch of critics have to acknowledge he's in our best 22 on this years form..) Emg: Any three of Bail (unlucky) Wona Dunn (unlucky) Bartram (unlucky) Johnson/Martin Jetta Cheney Macdonald Gysberts Bennell (very unlucky) Didnt get to mention tapscott, strauss, or blease Jesus that was tough.. Wanted to squeeze in bail and bennell but couldnt find a spot for them. And poor Jamar doesnt get a chop out. Really should put johnson or martin in there but maybe watts can do a bit of relief ruck? The only questionables are one of Warnock and Rivers, as its possible Frawley may take Warnocks role once we've got our best side, and Rivers may be surplus to requirements (insert strauss or cheney?). Although both are playing well Junior will pass the torch on either next year or year after (to Gysberts?), and Bruce might be squeezed out by the vicissitudes of age and the impudence of youth..(one of tapscott, strauss or blease?) In reality you never have your best 22 available though, so the raft of talented emergencies should get many chances. Bail, Bennell, Wonna to come in if one of forwards arent performing or injured.
  20. Great call? That was a terrible call. Coaches are hardly going to be overly critical of players in a public release - particularly given the amount of attention and hype on watts and other younger players and the need to present a positive outlook to supporters etc. Could you imagine the backlash and media beat up if the review was scathing or negative??? On the contrary, the only fair and honest report we're going to get is from supporters who are at the games and who dont have any other agendas. You can be sure that what is said externally is in no way indicative or representative of what is said internally.
  21. Hey morons - you can all pontificate as much as you want about watts being skinny, key position etc etc but the very simple fact is if he wanted it bad enough, he'd be playing right now. Gumbleton - was injured. Lynch - try getting a game for st. kilda when your a mid sized forward, Henderson - bradshaw and brown at brissy = not a chance of getting a game (and he ended up playing in the BACKLINE to squeeze him into the side). Mckernon??? What type of example is this? With his speed and agility, if he really wanted to he'd be in the side one way or another - particularly given our hell bent approach at getting as much games into the kids as possible. Its not a big deal, but he doesnt deserve a spot at the moment because of his attitude. Accept it, move on, and wait until he does deserve a spot. But dont delude yourselves, the reason he's not playing isnt because of his age, size, position he plays etc
  22. If he had the right attitude and application, he'd be playing seniors now regardless of how 'unready' he is at afl level. Just like scully and trengove are
  23. I tell you what makes me sick - unoriginal, sanctimonious posts about how its so wrong to judge young players and they need time to develop etc etc.... BORING, I say let people make bold predictions and scathing criticisms that are completely unsubstantiated, then see if they end up being vindicated. So here's one for you - I reckon Maric will not play more than 50 AFL games, and was a wasted pick. There, I criticised a young player who hasn't even had a fair go yet. Backlash anyone?
  24. Fair point but I disagree, because we are far from st kilda or geelongs calibre, whose better players have consistently performed for many years now and have the runs on the board. We are a team full of young potential, who are just starting to play great footy on the back of enthusiasm and hard work. Why upset that balance by bringing in a morton or jurrah 'automatically' if they're fit after a LTI? Both of them have many great games to be played before being absolute automatic selections. If dunn, bartram bennell etc keep playing well and to the team structure, and we are winning, then they deserve to keep their spots. We're building a very competitive unit that shouldnt be unnecessarily interfered with. However I agree that it is unlikely that all of the on the cusp players will continue to play well, and even more unlikely that we will keep winning so the above is all probably moot.
