My first and only contribution to this ridiculous thread:

I want Hogan to stay, not interested in May.

If Freo are truly out, then I'm ecstatic.

Hopefully no bridges between player and club have been burnt in this debacle.

That's pretty key now.  Very strange outcome to a long period of speculation.

Think he's gone boys. I really like Jesse and think he's a very talented player, but if its fait accompli that he will return to Perth at some point, it makes sense for him to be moved on when we can maximize value. Heard from a couple of sources (that could be complete [censored]) but thought I would pass them on. One was from a guy who was accomplices with a board member who said that he will be sent to Freo in a package involving Andrew Brayshaw.

The one I heard today at work was from a colleague who is good friends with one of the MFC players who said Hogan is involved in a 3 way trade with Freo and Brisbane with Neale included, unsure of what was coming to us however.

This is becoming very interesting.  Despite what Goody said a few weeks ago, the talk isn't going away.  There's obviously going to be some very disappointed supporters if he isn't on out list next year.

As talented as he obviously is, I can't ignore our results when he isn't in the team.  Maybe an absolute coincidence, but it definitely doesn't make me fear a future without him.

    frosty you beauty

lewis experience is a crucial part of our success

But need more from Spargo Anb Tyson

ANB??  How much did you drink tonight?

Freo??  FFS.  What player with any brain at all would sign with that shower and play under Lyon?  No matter how much cash they shoved at you.

Why not Freo?  Not every footballer considers potential on-field success to be the one and only consideration when making their career choices.  Money, home, relationships also come into it, and for some would be more important than who the coach is and where the team is likely to finish.

  5. From a non-emotional perspective, any in contract player is generally at the highest value to their current club. Out of contract, the club loses some control then FA is all control to the player and destination club.

IF Hogan requests a trade, I don’t think he is of the value that it benefits us to refuse.

Fyfe? (as long as the top knot goes as a non-negotiable in the contract)

I’d be happy with Fyfe minus top knot but I do t think that will happen.

Young Brayshaw plus their first pick would be close. Maybe Kent to them also (hopefully his luck changes there, poor bugger).

Or for someone 'who can not read the ball in flight'.

I watched the replay last night and focused on OMacs game looking for errors (in fact i ended up focusing on the errors of all the players, which was weird). As DA notes

disadvantage. Or Viney who only had 5 possession to half time, one of which was a clanger. Or ANB who twice missed players all alone in our forward line, Or Frost who twice got tackled trying to break lines, with the second resulting in pies game (which none the less earned praise from Whispers who said that's how he plays) and consistently mistimed his marking attempts.

Great summary.  One rushed kicked out of defence and an up-and-under kick to our half forward line.  And someone calls that "atrocious"???  Incredible blindspots.

Petracca and Sidebottom both had howlers yet were widely voted as the best two players on the ground.

Quite surprised Vince's name hasn't come up as someone committing plenty of mistakes.  Some of his handballing in particular was really poor.  Either to players feet or above their heads.  Really slowed our momentum at times.

  8. Fyfe over Kelly every day of the week.

I wonder if the Kelly link to Melbourne is nothing more than journos being so used to mentioning them both in the same sentence due to all the Tyson/Salem/Kelly trade analysis.

  9. Toumpas is still far too young for the AFL world to have given up on him and would be taken via trade for sure if we decided to move him on (which I don't think we will).

Garland and Dunn would also be valuable to other clubs if we wanted to move them on (also which I don't think we will).

Take Fitz and Toumpas off Forest Demons list above and I wouldn't be too surprised.

  10. Clarkson > Eade > Malthouse

Malthouse is the flavour of the month BUT it took him a very long time and A LOT more resources than we can throw at our football department. He has every luxury an AFL coach would want - money, facilities, top assistant coaches and a stand alone VFL side. It still took him a long time to win one, perhaps two flags. He's also a [censored].

Eade has a good record, without the ultimate success. I believe he could do more with our list and football department resources than Malthouse could. 7 years without a flag is probably long enough to lose the confidence of the players, but we have a good list ready to learn and perform for a new coach.

Clarkson's record at Hawthorn speaks for itself. Our potential talent could possibly be better than Hawthorns (we probably have more Top 20 picks on our list) and our football department spend would only be slightly behind. Has a history with our club and current powerbrokers. Go get him.
