  1. great idea but maybe limit it to members of over 20 years of continuous membership, then every decade of membership as a celebration. You could even use retired stars for it.
  2. yes i agree, its the silly season. if he has quit we'll officially hear about it soon enough.
  3. Maybe he played rivers out of position as he felt Rivers was more versatile then only pigeon holed as a backman. Changes of roles often comes with a new coach. Time will tell.
  4. A very interesting read, but for all your psych testing, the old gut instinct is usually the best. The process was the process, for example we don't know how much difference their was between say hardwick and bailey, it might have been 1 point in a scale of 1000. Though they most likely didn't ask him what he would be do if the CEO and footy department head were conspiring against him, but the players loved you?
  5. ch10 had it in Perth, but not 7...so go figure..
  6. Issue with Misfid earlier in the year if I remember correctly was a complaint about what was now expected from the coach. Basically all the players were told what they had under bailey was playschool or below AFL standard and now it was time to become a modern professional club in terms of the work required. This would have been a shock to many of the players, but I think more so to indigenous players who to my perception are very highly skilled naturally but rely on that for success. This was no longer good enough for Neeld and the club. As for Jurrah, he should do the right thing and ask for a trade and not walk out, its been done many times by other players. As for going to Adelaide to be near his family, my white anglo-saxon view is he should run the other way, as Farmer did the same when he moved back to Perth and it was not a good thing and resulted in lots of off field problems that affected his on field performance. As for Wonna, i think it came down to he didn't like the city, and that's not restricted to indignenous players but all sorts ever since clubs recruited from outside the metro area. As for Jurrah, I didn't thin he would play again for us, surprised we got a game out of him this year. Plus he seems to be really fragile and breaks easily, though he's not the only one with that problem at the club
  7. RR maybe some more depth to your argument, they are all very shallow.
  8. He only went home due to family problems, sad really as he had more problems once he did on and off the field..good to hear he was down supporting the boys.
  9. Neeld was reported as stating on Wednesday that "Moloney" was struggling with the changing game, basically the current tactics dont suit his existing style and he hasn't been able to adjust. I'm sure inside the club they have given him direction, but if he failing to follow it then he has no place. For example if it is true we was told to trim down and didn't that would show a disregard to the new direction of the club. He plays for the club, not the other way around. Its unfortunate if true (about all the above) but nothing is final yet till announced and done. As for a desintation i expect he would be chasing a top 8 club being nearer the end of his career than the beginnig.
  10. Online as well.. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/more-news/melbourne-midfielder-brent-moloney-set-to-quit-demons-and-become-afls-first-free-agent/story-e6frf9jf-1226462679875
  11. Though it helped that collingwood had a 5th rate ruckman on the night, if jolly was playing he owuld not have been dominant in that manner....I guess it proves you do not watch other football teams!! Nicknat is over rated and flashy, playing it a well drilled team where average players look good as the "team" is playing well. If you took him out of it and put nick with us, bulldogs, GC, GWS etc he would struggle week in week out, as he wouldn't have experienced players / good team structure to get him the ball. Whereas Jack will still find the ball and give it to a team mate.
  12. On memory we are or were marketing to the chinese students, giving them free tickets etc. Not sure of the results. The heartland program is the best initiative, take them to the footy for free. Not sure how much more they put into it, but also meeting the players as part of the trip pre-game will cement them in the dee's camp. That why if the game is crap they can talk to their mate, including on the ride home how they met Howe, Watts etc. Makes it personal. Otherwise just breed faster with more kids I've added three.
  13. For those that wont see it, can you give a summary please.
  14. Why would danner's coaching port make thommo leave the crows! they are two different clubs!
  15. If we win, me and the family will have a great day at the footy!
  16. Tom Scully swore to Jim he wanted to play out his career at Melbourne just weeks before he defected. Also got cold feet but had already signed the contract and couldn't get out of it, which I think he was told to do it by his old man. Tom Scully's decision to turn back on Demons and move to GWS hurt Jim Stynes "Sources have suggested Scully got cold feet just before the switch but was unable to renege because a contract had been signed."
  17. Being in WA, the Round 22 game were we set a new winning record against the weagles, a great game to watch live...though its been pretty crap since then at Subi.
  18. I thought tanking when I read it too...
  19. Neil Craig keeping the lines open in Melbourne coaching role An interesting article on Neil Craig. I like his comment that time in the system doesn't produce good players; education and pushing them does. Something I think we have missed recently.
  20. Taken from dreamteamtalk.com Sums it up nicely. The Clown (any Chris Judd fan should look away now) There can only really be one clown this week and he played on Friday night. Chris Judd (147) could have scored 200 points for all I care, but that one dog like act was all that I saw and confirmed what many have suspected about him…. He’s not a very nice type of guy. While all Bruce, Dennis and the rest of the Channel 7 circle jerk could do was sing Judd’s praises the rest of the football community was dumbfounded at how they couldn’t be mentioning the elephant in the room… Bruce… CHRIS JUDD JUST CHICKEN WINGED PATCH ADAMS AND DISLOCATED HIS SHOULDER!!! Not to mention the fact that Carlton were being smashed… didn’t matter to Bruce, it was champion Judd this, Legend Judd that. In fact I counted more camera shots on Twigley and co in the crowd than I counted replays of the incident. So while Perfect Twigley goes home with perfect Judd to their perfect home lets analyse Mr Perfect a little bit. He shot through on his parent club and sold himself off mercenary style to the highest bidder… who turned out to be the biggest crook in Australian business history…The new full walleted Visy ambassador then went on to show his true colours, His first job as captain was to oversee his new 18 year old rookies being chained to a chair and force fed alcohol til they passed out… welcome to Carlton! Then in no particular order he has been found eye gouging, using pressure point tactics and now chicken winging… with a repertoire like that he should be going for a job at Crown Casino security! What next Juddy? Hair pulling? Squirrel gripping? Anus poking? The AFL has a decision to make… their golden boy has priors and needs to be made an example off, if he gets any less than Wellingham this week it’s a farce, At least Wellingham sought out Simpson after the match and apologised! It’s your move AFL…this guy needs to be remembered for his dastardly dog like acts, not his champion like football skills. End rant.
  21. "You wouldn't have had to. As Don Scott famously showed . It was a Melbourne jumper with a yellow hawk on the front. Make no mistake , we weren't merging. We were taking over." Some interesting discussion, including the above. To be honest I voted fro the merger, simply because we would have become the Melbourne hawks...given we have changed our nickname a few times in the past, it wasn't a deal breaker. We were still ging to be the Melbourne footy club, as at the time we were the stronger party by far. The club was looking tot he future and were in a good position at the time, it was before the TV rights bonanza, which met the growing salary cap. And I think the AFL should pay for this will all the clubs, who manage how they spend it etc, but then the clubs raise money themselves for the training and support facilities. As for the future, we are in the best position financially for as long as I can remember and I believe we will continue to grow. As for infighting since Norm Smith, there was infighting in Norm's time, just you had a very successful period that held the club together and a very strong individual.
  22. fletcher is dirty, always has been. just seems to get away with it a lot. I think their was a blatant trip as well int he game that wasn't reported.
  23. more the case that Arocca just quit... As for insolvency, the AFL would step in before any club got to that stage. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/more-news/james-brayshaw-scoffs-at-claims-of-feud-with-eugene-arocca/story-e6frf9jf-1226385385967
