Thanks for running the comp Macca. It certainly broadened my interest in the season as a whole rather than just the teams I have an interest in. I'll start the post season comp. Going away in a couple of weeks & internet access might be questionable Steelers 24 - Ravens 17 Indianapolis 31 - Bengals 17 Dallas 34 - Detroit 27 Carolina 31 - Arizona 13

'49er's since the days of seeing Don Lane present the playoffs on TV I have a pretty strong affection for the Pats as well given that a) my other American sporting allegiances are in Boston b) they play in the "other" league c) Tom Brady is a gun and d) they gave me an interest in the playoffs over 10 years of crud from SF It's a strange thing that I can like a few teams in the NFL but despise all but Melbourne in the AFL - although if pushed I will admit that I don't mind watching Port Adelaide play. The rest can all G&GF ThIs week : Indy, San Diego & Arizona to underline the shite season that SF have put together.

Merry Christmas all

Bugger. Still, it took me to Week 16 to forget my tips which is better than I expected going in !
-
I believe so. We are getting into some dusty recesses in my memory.
-
Forced me to the books you buggers ! Yep, president NMFC 1928 - 34. "I am still the number one life member of the North Melbourne club" A.Calwell. "Be Just & Fear Not" 1972. Back to Jim Cardwell. A long time ago my mum was friends with Don Nicholls & his wife. He told me the story of how, as a young man, he came home one night to find Jim Cardwell sitting at the kitchen table selling MFC to Don's parents. One of the rare times Cardwell didn't land his man. Don had plenty of suitors and I think he said his preference was Richmond or perhaps he said they made the best offer. Anyway, he went to Carlton, little brother John followed the following year & a Bluebagger legend was born.

You're right. Calwell was a mad Norf fan. No 1 ticket holder I believe

I'm with the school that would like to keep it as is. Just Robbie for 2015 or at least until the first anniversary of his passing. By then we'll have had a decent sample to choose who has earned a spot

Let's try. A Blondie favourite of mine (damn that girl was fine). Only recently found out it was a cover https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b76TAdbEspE "Sunday Girl" was another ripping if somewhat forgotten track of theirs GtB 1.1 Hah. Success ! Thanks Macca. Might edit my first attempt now

GtB 1.0 A cover of Pumped Up Kicks Posted mainly to show the young guitarist David Knight who you can catch playing around Melbourne. He has a bit on YouTube to check out But, understanding that many don't dig instrumentals stuff I've stuck this one on. I also really like the voice of the girl singing. Kate Watts from NSW band The Blue Ruins Can't figure out how to embed clips so the link will have to do unfortunately - (fixed)

Nearly forgot Green Bay Denver Cincinnatti

Standard Operational Procedure for me. The buttons can be a bit tricky

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MITCHELL WHITE
Go the Biff replied to The Red Fox's topic in Melbourne Demons
Back on topic - I was disappointed we couldn't lure Malceski from the Swans. However if we could develop our own in young White, what a bonus that would be. He seems to know when to attack the ball & when to defend his man. And that is a beautiful left peg he's got. Does anyone know if he has a right foot as well as plenty of lefties seem not to bother with the opposite side. -

What a load of self serving tripe Do you wear glasses that somehow prevent you from reading your own posts ? Thread derailment occusrs when you take whatever opportunity you can to stick the knife into Toumpas. People don't get on here & defend him if he's not being attacked Your jibes at him are childish and mean-spirited Of course you won't realise this as your head is so far up your own arse you can count your teeth ! Grow up ! -

This is an exercise in futility this far out so my R1 team will probably change markedly after the practice games. Still, just for fun : B: Jetta, Dunn, Garland HB: Howe, T. McDonald, Grimes C: Lumumba, N. Jones, M. Jones HF: Watts, Hogan, Kent FF: Garlett, Fitzpatrick, Petracca R : Jamar, Tyson, Viney Int : Cross, Vince, Toumpas Sub : Salem Em : JKH, Michie, Bail Matt Jones selection might raise some eyebrows but we still lack outside run and GCS have recently slaughtered us in this respect. For the same reason I've put Lumumba there. Not sure that Michie, Newton, Salem, Brayshaw have the boxes ticked for this role. Riley & McKenzie don't. Maybe JKH or perhaps Kent could push up there. Stretch hopefully in 2016 If we expect expect GCS to play all of their tall forwards then Frost probably comes in at the expense of Grimes or Garland Fitz does relief rucking duties No specialist tagger. One of Jones, Viney, Cross to camp on GAJ. Or perhaps work in shifts

Exactly The shiny toys are all there. He is big on the bells & whistles but the basic fundamentals are unsound. Don't think he's been helped by some of the play calling & offensive strategy but he has been pretty awful all year - including in several wins. Jeez - this week's tipping looks bloody hard at first glance

Thanks mate. Appreciate the response. Wouldn't mind hearing KC from Casy's views when he next drops in on the thread

G'day Bonkers. What's your thoughts on dispensing with the Scorpions name. If little of Springvale remains, would rebranding as Casey Demons make a statement that we are Casey, not Springvale and we are here for the long haul ? Agree on the problems competing with local clubs. Wondering if an initiative like incorporating a lightning premiership as part of the locals pre-season practice match schedule could be an idea. The Casey Cup with a few grand to the winning club. You could do something similar at junior level. Also have a program where junior teams are invited to train alongside Casey. And yes - embrace the Dandy & Gippy TAC teams. There are plenty of ways to foster the relationships but it needs co-ordination & passion Chris Connolly was a huge loss to the alignment And BB's right. A fast-growing forest needs to be planted aroung the outside of the ground ASAP. There is no protection from the wind apart from the grandstand

Your missing the point but Rivers is a good example of what I was trying to illustrate. I can see Howe growing into the "Rivers" role. Perhaps being better. Maybe Garland at his best. But not Dunn for the reasons outlined
