Hi Redleg. Yeah, it's a little further back in this thread.

Well he has a great record with his info, so I will prepare myself for a Petty departure at seasons’ end.

Given BBB will probably retire, Smith is probably gone too and Jeffo isn’t up to it atm, we will have a desperate need for a couple of experienced key forwards.

A player like Lukosius who is rumoured to be available and a bigger bodied experienced key forward, would have to be targets for us.

I wanted Treacy included in the LJ deal, but it didn’t happen.

I think Turner could be a chance to play forward in the future, if we are desperate.

Verall is another who could play forward, as he has good hands.

I wonder if Fullarton could also be trained up to play a more permanent forward role. A bit more muscle could help him.

I am sure if we know Petty is leaving, we will be preparing for it. It will be an interesting watch.

Jeff Gleeson KC AFL Tribunal Chair

    FWIW

A brief browse of the internet shows

    1. Senior counsel for Racing Victoria during the Cobalt positive saga.
Racing Victoria was widely criticised for it’s handling of the long running matter.

    2. Independent Commissioner for the ‘Melbourne Response’. A scheme set up by the Catholic archdiocese to compensate victims of sexual abuse.
The Melbourne Response was “criticised by the Royal Commission”

Oh, and allegedly he is a Collingwood supporter.

Is he connected with Uni Blacks?

I've noticed many tacklers show a duty of care and nurse the player to the turf.

Motorbike continues with aggression all the way through his tackle against Lever, and the AFL call him the "good guy".

If they are going to go with "good guy" adjudications, then they need stats for positive duty of care actions. These stats could reduce fines and occasionally suspensions. The effect would be that sporting actions may save them money.and so incentivise care to the opponent.

5 prior offences is not a good guy, it’s a recidivist.

Sparrow copped a week for a much softer sling. Obviously not a good guy.

I have never liked Gleeson’s findings and reasons, that change continuously.

I dont like charlie have seen him do some off the ball stuff in his early years .Now the dislike grows as he gets a free pass .So AFL says ok kids do what you like your a good kid with no prior record take a free pass and I will meet your dad over at the pub a drink

But he had 3 priors, 2 for striking, just no suspensions.

Christian and Gleeson (who was the AFL advocate at the Tribunal prior to being made its chair) have a vested interest in seeing Collingwood's competitors for the premiership be weakened and imv their bias has been shown at various times.  Port missing SPP for some key games.  We missed Kozzie for a key game.

So how did Cameron get off a with a key game vs Cats this week ... maybe the AFL is concerned about some optics that @Ethan Tremblay didn't suggest in the post below.

Blind freddy can see the potential for conflict of interest of the MRO and Chairman and the AFL should fix it - at least rotate the Chairman to someone who has no interest in the accused's team nor who they play in the following weeks.  Ditto the Tribunal panel.

    Of course it won't!!

Except that Port play Pies and Butters out would have helped Pies.

  6. Post on the Kozzie thread saying Cameron fined in 2017 for striking and 2020 for rough conduct and striking in 2021.

Tribunal said he had no prior suspensions. Didn't look at previous fines or incidents then.

3 previous incidents where he was found guilty and yet he is of such exceptional character, he is fined again, for medium impact which carries a suspension, when others would be suspended.

  7. Was found guilty of medium impact, that is a suspension, unless you are a good bloke, who in Cameron’s case work's with Indigenous youth.

Robbo, Whately on 360 stunned, journos Jay Clark, Glen McFarlane and Ralphy on Midweek Tackle, also stunned and appeared actually angry.

We have one rule for some and another for others.

    Can’t wait to hear Kingy.

Laura Kanes’ words of “all players are treated equally” are now quite hollow.

IMO the sooner the Tribunal Chairman and Christian are gone and the whole system is overhauled, the better.

Consistency simply does not exist in the AFL judiciary.

In our game Tmac just touched the ball as he was trying to pick it up and then it went out of bounds and they called deliberate...one of the most non-deliberate acts I think I've ever seen.  How they can rule on those things makes the mind boggle.

We have seen players pick up the ball and run 5 steps, or drag their opponent 5 steps to the boundary, with no problem and other times, a player takes possession of the ball as he crosses the boundary and is pinged.

The one consistent thing in the AFL, is the lack of consistency.

Further proof that the AFL protects high profile players and Brownlow hopefuls

If this same action was done by a nobody, say I dunno Hunter, it would result in suspension. And has.

Kozzie doing the same action gets 3-4 without any question.

Hunter as mentioned got suspended for the same thing.

  10. I hope he gets a run at it and is left in the side.

He will improve and the experience of Anzac eve big crowd will be invaluable to him and a couple of other youngsters.

Kozzie back might add some opportunities too.

So as we head into the bye

    Clayton Oliver- finger - test
    Marty Hore — thumb / 2 weeks
    Shane McAdam — hamstring / 2 weeks
    Charlie Spargo — Achilles / 3 weeks

    Christian Salem - hamstring - 4-5 weeks
    Jake Bowey — shoulder / 5 weeks
    Jake Melksham — knee / 10 - 11 weeks
    Angus Brayshaw - medical retirement

of the 44 on the list, 8 likely unavailable for the Tigers clash.

Don’t we add Smith to that list as being unavailable.

Our list is 2 down before injuries.

Want to see Ricky in the Under 18s academy game v Coburg game.  Love the see another exciting small forward added to the list.

The only hope of him getting to us is to not have a great year and be selected outside top 40.

Wow, you sure are hellbent on ditching Clarrie. This is the second thread tonight in which you’ve suggested we trade him. You say he’s a country mile away from the player “we know he can be” which begs the question: why would we trade him when we know what he can (and will again) be? He’s playing with the fingers of one hand strapped together ffs.

Anyone who suggests trading or demoting Clarry, who is playing injured, has to be joking or trolling.

Clarry is the best contested ball player I have ever seen, in well over 60 years of watching footy.

It all comes down to the midfield. We are getting smashed in clearances and contested possessions. That’s the game.
You can’t blame the forwardline when the midfield is not able to win the ball.

And when we win it we give it back.

  15. I hope all Dee’s fans are realistic about Kolt in his first game and aren’t disappointed if he doesn’t have a great game.

On what we have seen he has the talent to make it, but may need time as most young players do.

Then again, he could turn it on.
