DD, I agree with you. I have grown to like the MELBOURNEfc logo which is largely the blue with red v, the strongest image of our team - look how a demon image is so much less effective in the alternative strip (both current and past).. And we are also the demons! Look at the filth. They will not give up the b&w vert stripes for anything, but continue to be the maggies.

Says who? This list has reported such rumours for the past 4-6 weeks, including quotes from Grimes that he will be good in '2 weeks' I don't have a good feeling about him ever playing.

What's this got to do with the MFC? Watched him on TV knock a dislocated knee cap back into place. Talk about tough.

MFC boardmembers want assurances from Stynes

Nothing more than due diligence. No angst in the quotes in this article. -
My gut tells me Rivers is stuffed. very sad.

Sylvia - 3; very ordinary

I remember Greens pass being from up-field, so I don't think its the same incident I described. My memory tells me Johno's pass off turned into a turnover.

A hard one. I agree with you, ...but. 1. He had great hands today 2. Players should play with instinct - his instinct is to kick the winning/fluke goal As long as he has great hands, I think they will pick him. (I have a lasting image of the first game we played after Balm got the bullet - Greg Hutchison caretaker. Vs the tiges, at the Gee, 3rd/4th quarter, Yze bouncing fom half back to half forward, left side, and slotting the goal fom 50m. No-one wihin 30?m of him. Sigh! Oh, and we won.)

I agree. I particularly remember a mark inside 50 on the flank. Should have had a shot but tried to pass off. Very ordinary. A big man like that can easily make the distance.

HB, you are way ahead of the plot. What say we finish last, get Natanui, and he does an ACL in the first practice game? What then? This is Cargo Cult stuff, pure and simple. Lets beat the tiges and the bombers (never a better name!). That's probably about it. We will finish bottom 2/4 and will get a very good player in the draft. Natanui or whoever, they will be good, IF WE CHOOSE WELL.

What nonsense. Morton doesn't have the natural athleticism of Goodes. However, I DO think he will be a good, long term player for us. Gotta work on his kicking tho'.
-
3rd (?) quarter, our club runner was in the filth 50 metre zone when he shouldn't have been. A free kick was awarded that led to a goal for the filth.

Watch the way he drops the ball; like Bruce, he doesn't use his right hand to guide it down. BTW, I am not 'bagging' Bruce - I think he is a very good (not great) player. And I didn't think Morton was our worst - great spoil forced a turnover on the wing - ended in a goal.
-
We need a winning culture more than anything. We will finish bottom 2 or 4 anyway. So PLAY TO WIN.

I probably shouldn't have put Robbo in. The filth duo were last minute withdrawals. Original post edited.

Edited 1. The filth - missing Pendlebury and Rocca; last minute. Pendlebury particularly big out - bet they rested him thinking they could manage without him 2. We were spirited, and played with some passion (and plenty of angst) 3. Bode is way out of his depth; way, way out 4. White and Johno both won the tap outs, but frequently to the filth; they didn't shark it, it just went to them, even in front of them to run onto???? Go figure (Better get Warnock from the eagles) 5. Jones HAD SPACE. This time he seemed to have poise and space. 6. Morton is very similar to Bruce, including his kicking style, unfortunately. 7. To many passes were poor - need to be out in front of a leading player; too often on their head or behind them. Miller was great considering this. 8. I thought we were generally flatfooted. Not sure if it was the slippery conditions 9. Rivers needs to go onto the long term injured list. Reminds me of Hanson at the eagles - good player, but always injured or about to be injured. His (Rivers) career may be at an end, sadly; great player. 10. Our backline played with plenty of angry pills. They need to repeat it week-in week-out if that's the way they want to go. 11. Yze had great hands today, probably our best marking forward. Squandered it with poor kicking, or wanting to kick the fluke/wonder goals. 12. We need a new (club) runner who doesn't give away goals. My overall feeling was that we were about to get over run at any time. We didn't, which is great. The filth had the luck overall. And we were a chance in the last 5 minutes.

Bobby, don't bother!

I presume we will be aligned with Casey next year. And I see Greg Hutchison is the Casey coach. Hope we keep him on board - I rate him (and he was of course caretaker coach of MFC after Balme got the bullet).
-
So shall we make him "BOB Solarium"? Or just BOB?
-
And we also need members on the board who have, or have access to, serious $'s. Currently we don't have any; all (?) other clubs - at least the ones I know of. WE NEED A BOARD WITH SOME SERIOUS WEALTH BEHIND IT!

Give it a rest, you have made your point on a number of other posts. Just agree to disagree. I wouldn't have included Hopgood, but would have included Steve O'Dwyer. So it goes. None of these people were stars.
