WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Mono replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
This it? Luke Mioduszewski @shetski @emmasq Hey Emma, In a one word answer, do you think GC or GWS will bid on Viney? Emma Quayle @emmasq @shetski gold coast. Unless something changes in next 24hrs -
Interesting comparison. I remember talk at the time was that carlton couldn't believe that we would be willing to trade Spalding as he was one of the few MFC players they rated as competitive and hard at it.
-
Sounds about right to me. There was a similar article in the the age? a few days ago suggesting 26 fro Dawes, but what if we used 26 on Viney. Dawes +17 for pick 13 might be doable. If we pay over the odds, it will be in player contracts ie $s, not the picks we use.
-
Jesse White visiting Adelaide. Pic from fb; whatever happened to privacy.
-
Dogs are said to be looking to trade picks 5 and/or 6 to GWS to get access to the mini draft. Swans may be looking to trade for one of those - say pick 5. No idea what with (Jesse White + pick 22 + +?). At least it is in Sydney, and GWS look to be going somewhere. Pick 5 might get the deal done. You'd have thought the swans must have a pretty idea of how they will get the deal done before puting up the offer.
-
You'd have to think Port would not be in his sights, unless they offer a 4 yr contract. Its been reported that the cats have offered a 3 yr contract vs MFC 2 yrs. $s and length of contract would be big factors as well as chance of playing finals. Don't think he's been linked to the Lions. That would be Moloney.
-
Hard to imagine a bigger put down than the appointment of Cameron at GWS. Clearly, Williams was shown the door. FWIW, imo they got it right; Williams fluked the Port flag, then screwed the club $s wise to the point of oblivion. Walked out with full payout into GWS job. God help the tiges. Gotta say, if Hinkley gets the port job, god help them; his repute from SW Vic is that of a nutter. Might well finish the club.

Agrred Yep. Oh so correct. Bit of Freo here too.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES
Mono replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
Reported that Dawes is on big coin. We would be one of the few (with saints I guess) to have the cap space to take over the contract at least for the first year, with balance of 4? years negotiated Good grief.....what is it Rhino would say.........LOL LOL....Morton was a pick 4........ -
Had a stellar year, better than any of our talls and at 24 is coming into his prime. Apparently asking $300k.
-
Who? Background?
-
Well put. Cale just is not an instinctive contested type of player; he might put in a one off "backing into a pack mark", but it is just not instinctive contest after contest. Xavier Ellis is a similar type of player for mine. Hawks gave up a very early pick 4? for him as well. For all of Hawthorns drafting successes, they sure have made some howlers. Instead of who? As a what - crumbing small tall?

Any discussion on how we will spend our salary cap. By any measure, especially if Rivers leaves, we have $2m+ to play with. We have to spend a minimum 92.5% of salary cap - currently we are way short. -
FB has it that Carlton is the major club; may have to trade Gibbs back to SA.
-
Agreed. Read today that the swans have made 33 changes to their list in the past 3 years.
-
Pretty sure they have to be used in this draft. Not sure if they can be traded.
-
Presumably your getting this rumour (pick 17) from the fb page. The trade period does not start for another week. FFS

Goddard says hello.

Not hard. Any player with skill, hardness and preferably a background of playing for a successful club.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CAMERON PEDERSEN
Mono replied to Hannibal's topic in Melbourne Demons
According to the HUN online today, Pederson is likely to go to the filth. -
You wouldn't think so. Got a feeling the WC have had their fill of Mortons and the Morton family over the years.
-
Not so. Dunn is so far the only one mentioned "that he’s locked down a spot within the team". Gysberts comments, as for many others, are about getting a good preseason in etc. Generic. Not that I want to see Gysberts go.
-
And Dunn who has played mainly as a forward, spent half the year as a back, and looks to have cemented his spot in the side...see other topic on Dunn. Interestingly, Rivers 192cm, 92kg Dunn 192cm, 95kg (Scarlett 192cm, 94kg) The rub on Rivers has been that when isolated 1 out (as targeted by the filth) on a tall forward, he has been found out. Not sure he has the 1 on 1 strength to be a Scarlett replacement. Then again, if he gets in the gym........but you wonder a bit why he hasn't beefed up a bit already. The cats already have a sweeper type (Mackie 192cm, 87kg), so you wonder where their interest is. Having said all that, I rate Rivers and am not keen to see him go.
-
From the MFC web site review of players; about Dunn: ....................................... Lynden was one of the most improved players for 2012. He should look forward to the pre-season, knowing that he’s locked down a spot within the team. - Jade Rawlings (backline coach) Lynden looks to be a stayer. Interestingly, Dunn is the same height as Rivers and a few kgs heavier. Hmm....

Enough with wanting to pick up other clubs rejects
Mono replied to Parma's topic in Melbourne Demons
Reality is that we HAVE to land at least 1 big fish. We have massive salary cap room (reported as $2m in one article), and unless the rules have changed, we have to pay minimum 92.5% of the full cap; and the clubs stated aim is to pay 100%. You'd have to think that the club has some gettable targets in the frame. (If we don't, we will be going to the AFL asking for special dispensation to pay less than 92.5%.)
