  1. Melbourne is the only team I have picked correctly all year in my tips. Tipped em only once this year against Freo and have tipped `em this week. Thursfield and King are some big outs and the inclusion of Davey is massive for us! Will be a bit of a payback for the caning the gave us last year.

  2. Personally, I think there is a ton of upside to Chook. He is certainly getting better as this year progresses yet is still to reach the dizzy heights since his performance in the 06 Elim against the Saints. Sure he is not quick but you`ve gotta love his hardness and that is what this team needs more than anything to get the credibility back and some respect from opposition. Sit back and watch, when our young team starts to gel in 12 months time, I reckon this bloke will stand up as much as anyone in the team!

  3. Who gets Richo if he plays on the wing?? I reckon Garland should have a crack wherever he plays. One of the only talls that could match his pace?? Thoughts anyone?

  4. I am finally starting to get a positive feeling about our club. That Jimmy was brought to tears about taking on this gig and how much MFC means to him is just awesome. With word of some serious clout and possible financial backing coming on board with him(according to another current thread)maybe our 150th year will have some meaning afterall. The year we turned the corner and build to become the force we once were! Good on ya Jimma! Can`t wait for footy show and see what Gazza has got to say!

  5. Definite shoulder dislocation to Beamer. Was watchn Riv closely in the 3rd, he could barely run and look stiff as a board. Don`t think he came back on in the last qtr. Didnt see him cop any obvious hits. I hope its not OP. Could be cotton wool yet again for him for the remainder of this year!!

  6. missed opportunites is what cost us today...

    Sylvia

    Morton

    Green

    Yze

all 4 should've kicked 2 more goals each than what they finished with...

adding another 42 odd points to the score and we win by 3 goals... i know it's a simplistic way of looking at it, but they all had shots which at AFL level you need to ice and put away, but they fudged them completely...

I think we beat them in most areas today. If we had kicked straight , we win the game. I know Filth missed a few in the last qtr but we butchered it in the 3rd when we missed 3 or 4 sitters not to mention 2.8 in the last qtr.

  7. I have always believed in playing to win... except next w/e against the Tigers. This is a must lose game for us!! They are starting to look ordinary and we need them to get 1 more win!Natanui will help keep our club alive with the amount of people coming to watch him play, much like Buddy Franklin is doing for Hawthorn.

  8. Cant ask for much more today from a bottom team against a team who are flying! Bar some inexcusabele kick ins and some terrible kicking at goal which cost us dearly, we should have won this match. Again , some very good signs with some risk taking running football and pressuring the opposition. I would just like to see them play like this each week without there being a reason such as 150 celebrations or Neita`s farewell!Garland n Knockers continue to get better much to the surprise of many including myself. Well done fellas

  9. Felt extreme pride to be honest. The sight of Robbie Flower smiling on the walk and gladly signing autographs and getting photos was fantastic. Good to see that a lot of kids under 10 yrs old know how important this bloke is to our club. They were awed by being so close up to him as I was I guess! Fantastic sight seeing the sea of Red n Blue. Must have been close to 5000 on the walk. Well done Demon fans for rocking up today and actually outnumbering Collingwood fans for one of the very few times!

  10. I too thought the wraps on him in his first year were just a little over the top, he was simply a good first year player, not great. He will get his chance to prove himself this year and should not by any means be dropped to get form. He is a perfect example of one of many players that need to get more games under their belt. A lot of 1st year players who have a resonably good first year do struggle in their 2nd year(Davey for eg.) He may still be a very good player for us one day, just get some more games into him. There are at least 10 blokes on our list that we should be questioning their ability before this kid!

  11. Last game for the MFC I rekon. It's not as out-there as you think it is.

Quite possibly. Was it Wilson at Port who did an achilles a year or so ago and has barely played since. About the same age as Robbo. Without his leap he will barely get a game. Lets hope we get to see him again for entertainment sake. Could be a blessing in disguise everyone. He has had little impact all year and our season was shot very early on so its a dozen games that another kid will get under his belt that he may not otherwise have played.

  12. How much longer do we persist with Sylvia?

    Will Juinor go on?

Is Daniel Bell the small defender we need?

Sylvia will probably be worth a trade as someone may see some value in him. He has given us nought though! He needs a big game against Pies or he could be back to Sandy for a few weeks. How much longer do we have to wait to see how good he is supposed to be. 2 or 3 good games a year doent cut it. Terribly injury prone which is a damn shame for him unfortunately, but another reason to cut our losses now!

I hope Junior keeps going, even though he is down on previous years you can never doubt his efforts and this can rub off on the youngsters

Bell has been ordinary too, but we have to persist . Still think there is a very good player in him in a year or 2!

  13. I cannot believe that after last weeks effort, the Melbourne Football Club would put in such an insipid, pathetic account of themselves.

At half time, we had 12 players who had not laid one tackle!!! After last week, that statistic is damming. We have no leadership, we have players like Jeff White going through the motions and playing with no bloody guts or passion, we are too slow in moving the ball and our forward line offered nothing.

The jury is out as far as I'm concerned as too whether Dean Baily is the man for the job, with the player list we have. The players have little faith in his game plan - That is bleeding obvious!!!

SHOW SOME BLOODY FIGHT AND SHOW SOMETHING MELBOURNE

I agree with you on most of this and feel the same pain. However, how can we blame Bailey for lack of hardness and elementary skills. We know they can play his gameplan as witnessed against Freo 2nd half and Tassie for the whole match last week. The hardness was awesome last week and the main reason we were in the game. We simply have a bad habit of playing out of our skins one week and failing miserably the following week and it has happened for years! Remember Adelaide flogged us the following match after our Freo game of the millenium.!!Maybe we need Robbo to come out and announce his retirement this week and we will come out on fire against Collingwood?? Saints getting flogged by their coach and media didnt help our cause but the fact that we had a blinder last week had me quietly expecting a pasting today. Just didnt think we would be so soft though!

  14. Yeah I guess he has got to come in if he is fit, regardless of his attitude. Personally , I`d like to see Maric replace Robbo. Just not sure if he is gunna get a game this year unfortunately. I do not think Juice would get a game at another club just quietly.

  15. I managed to get through it. Good to see the club being pro active and hearing our thoughts. They are obviously desperate to find out the best way of attracting more members and retaining the current ones but I `d reckon it would cost them a bit to do this survey!!

  16. Brock,Green,Miller, Warnock all good games. Thought tackling and presure was fantastic today. Backline stood up and worked hard and together.WELL DONE MELB you showed something today. AND UP YOURS KENNETT YOU [censored]>

3 Bate Sadly missed in first 6 rounds and is getting better n better. Will win a Bluey within the next 3 years

2 McLean, Started us off in the 1st quarter with 13 possessions and was efficient all day without the usual clangers

1 Take your pick , Davey n Aussie awesome, Moloney best game for a year but I`d give it to Garland for stopping Buddy today. Most thought he would kick 10 today including myself

  17. I'm not going to waste much more of my time talking because all MelbourneFC and everyone to do with it seem to do is talk.I will get straight to the point.

What an embarrassment that only 40k turned up today. Not only farewell someone whose heart beats truer than any of us, but make a statement to all concerned, that this this proud club is not going anywhere. Ever. In this humble supporters opinion I think its an absolute disgrace. Don't bother voicing your opinion, lamenting our poor season, judging our coach, president, football department or players past and present, if you can't turn up to a Melbourne v Hawthorn game on a Sunday, when not only are we farewelling a true champion of our club, a person who embodies everything which should be MFC, but when our pride is at stake. Understand the future of MFC is in the hands of the supporters. No one else. Understand that.

Agree wholeheartedly! In fact I am speechless at our supporters lack of spine. Fair enough to those with kids playn footy or interstate fans but anyone who didnt go cos they couldnt be bothered should be ashamed of themselves. As Brian Taylor said during the call Melb fans are pissweak for not making a statement today. Excuse the language but they were his words!
