  1. Is Jack Watts any relation to Fergus Watts? I still reckon Daniel Rich is the go fellas. He is an out and out superstar midfielder, really can't go wrong. It all depends on the U/18 carnival though, a bunch of us should head down to casey fields or the dome to watch Nick Nat and Rich in action. Some time in July I think. Getting rid of Bruce for a 1st rounder would be ideal, he's wasteful with the ball in his hands and at the moment his performances don't warrant what he is being paid. Can't believe we are still paying TJ...ridiculous.
  2. This might be an extremely stupid question but is there a possibility that next year a club other then us will be able to recruit Wonna with an earlier pick then us? Are we able to elevate him without having to re-draft him through the national or PSD? I'm a bit vague on the whole process.
  3. http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/dees...9235235329.html Interesting points by McNamee. Apart from Jono Brown who are some other uncontracted stars at years end? He gives the impression that we will have a serious crack at some uncontracted guns in the near future.
  4. I hear that it's been confirmed that Valenti has been promoted? Can anyone confirm this? (lol). Great news regarding Valenti, terrible luck for Neita...get well big fella, hopefully by the time you get back we might have hit a bit of form and will be able to give you the send off you deserve.
  5. Why didn't we appoint Ron as coach?
  6. Yep this kid is a deadset gun, and if we get the first selection in the draft I wouldn't hesitate to pick him over Natinui. Unbelievable midfielder for his age, matching with the best in the WAFL at only 17.
  7. Doesn't matter if some of these players are 'not going to be part of our next premiership'...they need to be there to guide the young players especially through these hard times. Junior has given his all throughout his entire career and has again been amongst our best in the 2 horror games in 2008. To axe these players or force them into an early retirement would only be a step backwards in our young players development. Exposure to the big time isn't enough to help them take the next step. On the other hand, Neitz, Yze, Robbo, and Whelan have also given the club their all but they simply can't produce the goods anymore. At years end, all should retire but as the young players come through they will need someone to lead them who has been there and done that so to speak. White, Junior and whoever else need to stay on for a couple more years at least. Back to the OP, I would love to see Valenti don the red and blue in 2008 but it looks like he will have to wait until 2009 to get promoted (barring serious injuries, touch wood)

    Rumours

I wish it were true, take him off our hands Adelaide, he hasn't shown anything in 4 years due to both injuries but more importantly lack of professionalism. He continues to let us all down and disrespect the club that gave him a shot in the AFL, it's like having a 2 year old with chronic groin injuries on our list. He better do something pretty special soon or he will be traded or delisted at years end.
  9. Hmm...Round 1 V Hawthorn springs to mind...
  10. Let's not get too carried away. He's been hit with a hefty fine and a suspension...one thinks that this ought to knock some sense into him. He has been in decent form and will be a big blow come round 1. The thing with the new curfew is...1am is around the time 18-24 year olds get started on a Saturday night...bit tight if you ask me. That said, rules are rules...and you either abide by them or get punished. Time to wake up Col we need you.
  11. Rivers to go with the flow at Scorpions Jared Rivers "won't be alone in his first game back from a lengthy lay-off. Clint Bartram, Matthew Whelan and Paul Wheatley will also return, after battling knee, hamstring, foot, calf and shoulder problems between them in season 2007." Awesome news...best news we've had in ages.
  12. Johnstone's disposal was hugely overrated. The notion that he was the best kick in the team lead him to be designated the kicking in duties in which I can count dozens of occassions where he turned it over trying to be TOO precise and sometimes costing us goals. Forward of the centre he had the potential to be damaging but once again, he didn't do it often enough. Lazy player. The best kick in the team for mine is easily Davey, without having seen the new kids play I can't see any other regular in the 22 that has the ability of Davey to hit targets.

    pathetic

Are you serious? Geelong fielding a near full strength side at home VERSUS Melbourne, with McLean, Neitz, Bruce, Davey, Miller, Rivers, Frawley, Moloney ALL out? Give them a break, half of these guys are on debut!!
  14. http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/head...2760495699.html Nisbett would be great IMO. Will be hard to woo him away from WCE though...they are flourishing at the moment, let's hope he wants a challenge.
  15. Mine owns
  16. Yes. His disposal is very one dimensional...and when I heard that stat at first I was surprised. However the week after I found out about it I was at our match against the Bulldogs in round 21 of 2005 (The game White kicked the goal that sent us into the finals) and was amazed to find that the Dogs got 3 goals as a direct result of Moloney turning the ball over bombing the ball into our forward 50. Hopefully somebody's told him to take a little more care with maintaining possession, because he has all the attributes to be a more then handy midfielder.
  17. Here's a stat for all you 'Moloney's long kicking is amazing' fans. In 2005, Brent Moloney had the highest number of turnovers from long kicks which resulted in goals. So I guess he can kick it long, but where it goes it doesn't really matter... according to that stat. Awesome player though.
  18. Godders could have benefited from that
  19. Brocky has just got to be cursed. If he could remain fully fit for an extended period of time (preferably 25 weeks of an AFL season), he would be dominating the competition, without a doubt. It frustrates the hell out of me when we all think that he is over his soft tissue worries and then bang he twists a knee, an arm, an ankle...whatever. Also, on the topic of fitness...who has really put in this off season? I haven't been able to make it down to training at all but can some informed person please share who is really staking their claim for a spot in the team? From all reports Jones and Buckley are ripping up the training track...any other dark horses?
  20. Let's be honest. We all wanted Judd at Melbourne and when he rejected us, well, we were both disappointed and angry at the same time. Well that's how I felt anyway. Disappointed that we had not only missed out on a superstar of the AFL but one who barracked for us as a kid. I was deadset certain he would choose us. I was also angry, not at Judd personally but at the notion that money rules the AFL these days. You think Judd chose Carlton because he loved the Blues? What I'm trying to get at is that whichever way we look at it, if Judd had have chosen Melbourne we would probably still be celebrating...not going on about the 18 year old's who we could have missed out on if we got him. Only time will tell.
  21. CAC did his job very well. For mine, 2001 pick 9 Luke Molan wasn't so much CAC's blunder but Molan's cruel run with injuries inability to adapt to the highest level of football. Could CAC predict this when he recruited an exciting young talent who at the time was seen as one of the best KPP in the draft? Definitely not. The recruiters can only do so much.

  23. Thanks to NuggetJones for the idea...i've come up with this little project. Perhaps it will inspire some to sign up! Enjoy! Deemissioner EDIT: Make sure volume is up to get the full effect!
  24. Thanks for everything Craig. You will be sorely missed but the current bunch of young players you've hand picked are excellent and you have ensured success for the Melbourne FC in the near future. Thanks again and your decision is understandable. Cale Morton may come back to haunt you and your Toiges
