  1. Apparently Hawthorn are fed up with Williams proposing completely unrealistic trades. Birchall + Brown + 9 was the final straw. Now that Kennett has stated Hawthorn's preference is to keep ALL premiership players I can't see Shaun getting there. The stalemate just got a whole lot more stale.
  2. A subliminal message that Carlton is going to be part of the deal! I love trade week.
  3. It was my understanding that you couldn't trade draft picks that you received in the same trade period...can somebody confirm this?
  4. Being the first tagged in the bottom team doesn't sound very enticing to me. Part of the reason why he chose Hawthorn is undoubtedly because he would receive less attention with the likes of Mitchell and Hodge around the packs. Not to mention they could very well win the flag next year.
  5. The only way Burgoyne is going to Hawthorn will be if a third club is involved in the trade. Hawthorn and Port won't agree to terns so it's time Port start looking at a third party for that additional player they are after.
  6. Murphy is three times the player Brock is. He kicked 31 goals as a midfielder, averaging just under 26 disposals this season. come on.
  7. Take the emotion out of the Brock trade and it makes a lot of sense. He excelled in close but wasn't really offensively damaging, we are more then likely picking up two clearance machines with draft selections 1 and 2, add them to Jones, Moloney, Grimes. One of our pure inside mids had to go. Just hoping that Pick 11 yields a really good player.
  8. I agree BROCKSTAR5. Are you going to change your username?
  9. It's not like we get NO picks when GC and GWS come in. You always need a balance between youth and experience regardless of this being the last uncompromised draft. Why would we throw away Garland who was touted as one of the competitions most promising KPD in 2008? Sure he has had some trouble with his foot but our medicos have said he will make a full recovery. I admit that I was all for trading Jamar in order to gain ONE more first round draft pick, but now that we have got 11 I think it's fair to say we have 'loaded up' enough. I can't see us trading for more high draft picks, and I can't see us trading either of 11 or 18 away.
  10. Some people are becoming obsessed with obtaining high draft picks...
  11. Sturts song is a rock version of Grand Old Flag. Trengove will already know most of the song.
  12. The two U/16 finals moved to Visy Park to protect the playing surface for the big one. Would get pretty cut up by the time StKilda and Geelong took to the field with the weather forecast. Disappointing for the players but meh...the good ones will get their chance eventually
  13. Pick 11 is about as good as we will get for McLean. Talia here we come.
  14. Complete dog and Pick 11 better be a good player. I'm actually fuming. Can't wait to see Moloney clean him up when we verse Carlton next, and coincidently I have mounted a strong case for Beamer to be our next skipper.
  15. Some people are being way too harsh on McLean. We all know he had a limited pre-season and yet a lot of people are still tearing him to shreds on here. Not 12 months ago he was a shoe-in to replace Macca as our next skipper. Mark my words when I say with a full pre-season under his belt he will be silencing his critics in 2010.
  16. What were my first two posts? If you are referring to my questioning of Schwab RE Pick 2 for Burgoyne I suggest you move on because that hardly warrants being called a borderline pest. Quit being petty.
  17. If he hadn't of asked who to take I wouldn't have bothered. Glad we have cleared that up.
  18. Give me a break Enforcer. It's people like you who make me not want to bother posting on here anymore. I come here to relay some information to you and my fellow demon supporters alike and you call me a borderline pest. Cheers mate. <_<
  19. Was just on Schwab's twitter and wrote " I'd say there will be some furious MFC supporters if we so much as entertain the thought of parting with Pick 2 for Burgoyne!" to which the great man replied "Please give us some credit". Even though I never really thought we would think about Pick 2 for Burgoyne, just thought I would make it clear on behalf of all the MFC supporters how highly we value investing in youth and keeping the first two picks of this draft. From that response it seems they have the same view. Go Dees.
  20. If we even entertain the thought of trading Pick 2 for Burgoyne (+ Something else) I will be furious.
  21. Having completed year 12 in 2008 Watts should start his pre-season around mid November. Needless to say that Jack won't be studying 24/7 and should get some form of training done. Doubt DB will allow any of the boys to participate in the annual schoolies shinanigans, and I doubt any of the current schoolboys on the list will WANT to anyway if they are serious about playing AFL.
  22. Tough one, with midfielders especially you can throw them in the deep end right from the start. Take a look a Stephen Hill this year, looks like a twig ready to be snapped in half but still managed to have an impact. I'm not expecting much from Watts next year. He should play a lot more games but still won't be ready to tear a game apart with 6 goals. Strauss should be ready to go. Trengove if we pick him should be ready to go. Would be cautious with Blease and Scully...give them a taste and if they play well enough to retain their spot then so be it.
  23. Love the article and the format. Thanks WJ.
  24. Look he's not a bad player it's just a question of durability for mine. He has strung some dominant games together towards the end of the year giving him some currency, so if Port buy into the hype then given their depleted ruck division I think they would jump at that trade for a short/mid term fix - albeit risky.
  25. How is he AFL standard if he only manages to get on the park 31/66 times over a 3 year period? Surely I'm not the only one questioning his durability...? If anything his tendency to get injured during the home and away season suggest his body is not up to the demands of the AFL.
