  1. I seriously doubt that to be true. Judd was kicking massive bags of goals (13 or 14 in 1 match) for Caulfield Grammar playing as a forward and getting leather poisoning in the midfield.

I hope he is a gun but I don't hold high hopes for his 1sy year in terms of output. Same goes for Trengove or whoever else we select.

The more I read about these young kids and their dedication to reaching the top, the more I realise how stupid it would be to try to draft a half-crippled, self indulgent and arrogant individual like Luke Ball who won't even give us the time of day.

I look forward to seeing the likes of Scully and Trengove at the club and, if the choice at 18 is between Ball and a young gun, I would rather draft a Bastinac or a Vardy than a bloke who doesn't want to be at the club and won't be around for long anyway. If we get a good, young kid, he'll be around long after Ball breaks down.

  2. Two years ago Scott Simpson was a fairly highly rated 196cm KPF for the Dandenong Stingrays. Drafted by Geelong at # 44 he has just been delisted after failing to get any AFL action.

I don't know what's happened to him in the interim.

Anyone know and would he be worth a look?

  3. According to the Herald Sun today, Rivers missed because of a "hip".

I just wish the club was a bit more forthcoming to supporters about injuries to players. I'm not talking about these last minute things but it took a long time for us to be informed as to why our best defender missed out. As for Juice Newton and his injury ... pffft!

  4. What a pathetic thread and what a bunch of losers you guys are.

It's three rounds into the season and, yes, we've been ordinary for most of them but we have played the big three and the players are adapting to a new coach and a new ball game. We're starting to show improvement and if we can get the right combination going and the players click together this week, you never know what could happen.

I'm not suggesting a flag but it's dangerous these days to rely on early draft picks alone to develop your club.

  5. With all the doom and gloom surrounding the club at the moment it's important we get of to a good start by beating the Hawks in Round 1.

The problem is that a number of our players have had very little match practice as they try to get right for the first game that matter. Cameron Bruce will return from a knee injury to play for Sandringham in a VFL practice match this Sunday and according to the Herald Sun, if he "gets through unscathed, he will be selected for the Demons' Round 1 clash with Hawthorn."

The report says club has also applied for AFL permission to play Clint Bartram, James Frawley, Cale Morton, Lynden Dunn, Chris Johnson, Jared Rivers and Paul Wheatley in Sunday's game against Williamstown.

    No Wheels?

  6. Add Rivers, Bartram, Wheatley, Dunn and Grimes to those who have 0% chance of playing round 1.

Dunn played about half a game at Sandy yesterday so he would have to be above 50% if he pulled up OK afterwards. Wheatley and Grimes are probably close to 0% but Rivers and Bartram have two weeks to prove themseleves but admittedly less than 50% ATM. Bruce would be the same.

  7. As for our problems, after hearing about Aker's complete carnage of us throughout the game, what does those of you who saw it think of our tagging capacities throughout the season?

It might also mean that DB had other issue to deal with than to tag someone like Aker in a practice match knowing he has run with players like Junior, Barts and even Cameron Bruce around for when the real thing starts.

  9. How did Weetra play besides the goal? Have basically heard nothing of him since he was drafted

According to the report on Demonology from twodogs he dropped a few sitters in front of goal. Suggest he might spend a bit more time at Sandy before he gets back into the club's pyjama uniform.

  10. It happened today

This is what Westy's Warriors posted yesterday at 12.40pm on bigfooty - http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=411746

"I actually heard last night that Cam Bruce has hurt a ligament in his knee and will be out of action for up to 6 weeks

Did he mention anything about that?"

It seems to me that if he indeed hurt his knee, it happened on Friday or alternatively Westy's Warriors is a clairvoyant.

Either that or he hasn't hurt his knee.

  11. I don’t care who plays on him as long as they stop him. Last time Rivers played on Buddy, Buddy played awesome and I remember Buddy saying Rivers couldn’t keep up and was [censored]. I don’t think Rivers is the right person for the job

    When was that?

  12. I really like the way the club is heading and i know we might not win it this year but you just get the feeling that we are not going to just fall over and take a position at 15th again this year but that we are going 2 challenge what ever comes towards us and I know that we are going 2 surprise alot of clubs this year and beyond!!

    CARN THE DEES!!

"Even Isaac Weetra is feeling like he can play the game. That's what excites a new coach."

Is that supposed to suggest that this comes as a surprise to Bailey and that he might not think the kid's up to playing the game?

  13. if youre in Melbourne there is a book a store devoted to sports books, im pretty sure its on Flinders st on the left as you head to the G. name elludes me. Carneggie collectables (look on line) buys, sells and values anything sports related, worth contacting them

It's called Melbourne Sports Books and I think its close to the intersection of Flinders and Exhibition Streets. I doubt that they'll have the two MFC histories wiz mentioned although they probably have Lynda Carroll's later book.

  14. From the Sunday Age Pssst column by Craig Hutchison comes the news that prominent boxing coach Rodney Ryan has knocked back Carlton's attempt to gain his signature, preferring to stay with the Demons in 2008 and beyond.

"The fitness coach - who last year served as the club's runner for Neale Daniher and then Mark Riley - has been in high demand from a host of Melbourne-based clubs.

"But the man who looks after other high-profile sportsmen such as Jonathan Brown, Olympian James Tomkins and formula one racer Mark Webber decided to stay loyal to the Demons and will stay at Junction Oval".

Chalk that down to a victory for loyalty ahead of the chase for filthy lucre. The boy with the golden groin$ should take note.
