  1. I still can't get past a strange similarity to Buddy in his draft highlights. Just a couple passages in the first minute. I think it's the way he moves and holds his body. Am I crazy?
  2. Could be he's been asked to work on a couple things in the seconds. Could be an attitude or fitness issue. Could be trying to run some kids in the firsts for the sake of their development. Or a combination of all thereof. But none of that necessarily concludes he's not our best full-back. Just as a thought experiment, who do you think would be selected in the back-line if we were playing finals?
  3. Although that may not be necessarily true.
  4. I know this exercise gets mixed up between preferences and predictions but Omac or Frost at full-back in almost every listed best 22? Frost hasn't played a single game for us back there and has been otherwise unconvincing and Omac looked green enough on the weekend that you'd think he had the flu as well. Think finals. Who would you want back there then? Lynden Dunn is still our number one full-back.
  5. Of course. I'm getting well muddled. The decades of failure are all blending into one big lump. But they did play against one another. The original incident must have been around 98' then. Did Pickett take out one of ours at some stage or Tingay himself? Edit: Just checked (for fear I was losing my marbles). They played against each other twice in 98'. Once in the prelim and once in round 17 - a match I'd otherwise forgotten for good reason. We also played the Roos in Rnd 2 and although Tingay didn't play, I recall his charge on Byron was a square-up for something that happened in that one . . .
  6. I have this vivid memory (must be circa 95'?) of Tingay lining him up for revenge from an incident in an earlier fixture. Eyes lit up and he ran right past the ball to collect Byron in what would have been a brutal hit, but Pickett sprung up like a crazy cat at the last second and scared the bejeezus out of a charging Tingay. Anyone recall what Tingay may have been seeking revenge for? And how they got along after in the same team?
  7. I wonder if the club is allowed to help?
  8. That's why I mentioned the figure since taking over as captain. Post-siren specialists as well - g' the boys up before the huddle. Noticed JV also got in on the act on the weekend with a big shove after the bell.
  9. Hoping you can give the newbies here a quick summary Dr?
  10. Perhaps I should have spelled it 'Mission'?
  11. We need to get rid of Misson. First Brayshaw, and now Salem out indefinitely.
  12. Strange. He's our best. But not our most important . . .
  13. That takes Jones to about $12000 in dinky fines since taking over as captain. Anyone know where this money goes?
  14. Here Petraccatack. I made it so Leppa gave Rich 3. MFC votes in bold. 8 Jesse Hogan (Melb) 5/3 8 Billy Stretch (Melb) 4/4 5 Tom Bugg (Melb) 5 3 Daniel Rich (BL) 3 3 Jeff Garlett (Melb) 1/2 2 Christian Petracca (Melb) 2 1 Clayton Oliver (Melb) 1
  15. No. Wait, I mean yes.
  16. Gorgoroth: Fool, it's hot! Damn hot! Were you born on the sun? Hottest things is my shorts. I could cook things in them. A little crotch pot cooking!
  17. There is a general idea in this thread that we should play around with structures a bit (e.g. ruck) or rest players to be cherry-ripe for our upcoming series of big games. Wins/Losses haven't really bothered me all that much this season as I can see where we are going, but this game is the first where I've seriously cared about the outcome. The result to me will have a big season-long impact on any challenge for the 8. A win could see us move into the 8 with the following fixture presumably competing against the Hawks for their spot. That motivation and the confidence from winning is important and I don't think we should muck about. Alternatively, a loss will drop us back down into the pack below, and a four game losing-streak heading into the bye is the last thing we want. If Gawn needs a rest, let him kick his feet up during the week. Ditto Oliver. If Garland doesn't fit he doesn't fit. And no need to be sentimental over ANB or Omac right now. They will get their chances.
  18. We can put him on that forward flank with the tree.
  19. How many did Stretch start as sub? Time to bust out the asterisks.
  20. I mentioned I had a girlfriend, right?
  21. Sometimes when my girlfriend steps on my toe I yell owe and then realise it didn't hurt whatsoever. I then milk her apologies if I sense she might fetch me a soothing whisky and have me recuperate on the couch. .
  22. I thought Oliver looked a bit pale yesterday as well.
  23. Can you explain this system again DeeSpencer? Everyone gets votes out of ten for each game or some such?
  24. I wrote illness in quotation marks because I was quoting a quote. Or maybe I'm part of a grand conspiracy to bastardise punctuation marks?
