  1. JB ? Surely its not Billings. He's hardly a debutant.

Oh well , maybe i heard it wrong. lol

Great to see all the Melbourne players super pumped. I'm feeling more confident about the Swans game. I think the Dees are glad they're first cab off the rank on Thursday. They want to rip into the season.

    Go dees.

    bingo

Richmond v Carlton is played ever year as a major R1 opening game because it works.  Id like to see us play Essendon R1 not the doggies. ffs

OLIVER. too good a player to rot in the magoo's.

If he says he wants to play against Swans then play him.

  3. If we're going to 'stick it to them' our forward line has to start kicking winning scores

Our  backline (best in league)cant hold the opposition every week to 8 or 10 goals.

Petty & Melksham unavailable ,Smith likely gone Tmac and Brown old and injury prone. That leaves Fritsch Pickett and JVR.

Goodwin will have to get creative this season starting against the Swans.

Otherwise we're making up the numbers.

  4. I wouldnt bet on dees giving Maynard a hard time.

Why didnt we sort him out in the QF when we had the chance. Hawthorn would of put Maynard on a stretcher to keep Brayshsaw company.

If anyone gets hit in the KB game its probably us. Collingwood is protected but we're not. May will be reported and suspended in a nano second if he so much as tickles Daicos.

The AFL is a joke run by amateurs.

Im becoming less interested in this season 4everyday as we approach March 7.

Pretty easy for list managers this year, going to have a few spots to fill

Brayshaw, Melksham, Smith, B Brown, T Mac, Schache, Tomlinson

Must be over 3m in cap space there. Gotta get some class forwards and a ruck.

    Maybe Grundy!  Oh wait   oops.

Nothing, we were the ones that signed him on a long term deal knowing he could be done at any moment.

Medical retirement should mean Gus is taken care of by the league and not salary cap.

The only other thing we should’ve got / should get is access to a replacement player by the SSP.

It’s crazy to have the deadline last week and Gus announced now. Provision should be made for medical retirements before the first bounce of the season proper.

Brayshaw is a young man with a uni degree. He's retiring from footy not life.. He'll get a well paid MonFri job easily. Why compensation?  For what?

AFL/tribunal found Maynards act was legal.

Case closed. Its disgusting what happened but no-one in the AFL cares.

Brayshaw knew the risks but underestimated Collingwood.

I believe Brayshaw was set up in the QF. Maynard elevated himself straight at Brayshaws head.

CEO tricky Gil hid under his desk that week. Maynatd was always getting off.

    Its all over now.

  7. Bulldogs are the genuine one hit wonder. Finished 7th in their flag year and were assisted by some dreadful umpiring that got them the flag over the Swans.Dont think theyv'e got near top 4 finish for years, certainly not since their flag.

The media will twist the knife into the MFC every chance they get. Its relentless.

Were Collingwood one hit wonders after 1990 or 2010?

God i hope Collingwood and Carlton mupp it this year.

  8. What a depressing  few minutes that was from Sam Edmond.

Melbourne have to stand up in the opening round in a fortnight.Critical.  Give no quarter take no prisoners. We'~ve got to become badass. No more gentleman nonesense like Oliver in the dying moments against Carlton.

Guys like Sparrow Chandler Spargo Salem Pickett Fritsch have been around the track for a while now.

Theyve got to show improvement in '24.

Gawn Petracca May Lever Oliver and Viney cant do it all week in week out.

Sick of all this BS about culture building. When do Collingwood ever go on about it.

  9. Good grief.

Its started already. Season over before R1 has even been played. No skills no new moves inside 50 . Recruits are a bust.

I didnt realise you had to peak in February to be a chance for the flag in late Sept or even early October.

Maybe I'll play golf instead this season.

Only joking  i hate golf. lol

Relax. I'll wait and see how we go against the Swans. Our last H &A game was the same team and ground. We creamed them.

  10. MFC ( denied) him a transfer to Adelaide.

Is that correct? Petty actually wanted to leave us with 2 years left on his contract. Thats not how i read it.

Why leave. He doesnt even come from Adelaide. Just the money?

  11. Cant believe its on again in a few weeks time. March 7 is crazy but thats AFL for you. How many of our players wont be ready; Petty for sure  Salem Oliver and Brown.Cant see tmac doing much in '24.

I think this year could be dominated by interstate sides as its been a long while since thats happened. One flag in 10 years or 2 in 17 years!

Lions GWS certainly.  Crows  Swans Port are wobbly but their home advantage will help. Suns ? Theyre going to make 8 sooner or later. Maybe current Suns list is that time.

No Vic side is a lock in for the 8 incl Pies. Definetely not top 4 anyway.

Dees will have to get off to a good start otherwise were in trouble. We've got a tough fixture in the first 6 or 7 weeks.

Suns fixture couldnt be easier if the AFL tried. I think they' ll make 8.

You are quite the linguist, db.

I dont like the pc terms for someone who has died   ie.  passed away or.... there has been a passing in the family..

Passing where? Where are they going?

When you die you're  dead . Pure and simple.

    Word salad wont change anything.

  13. 80,000  sure , why not!

    This is a big final not a H & A  game.

Didnt we get 80k to our last swans final and that wasnt even a QF in 1987.

Admittedly alot of dees would of died off over the past 35 years. Not many youngies coming up to replace them.

May be wrong but i think there's an aflw curtain raiser starts at 4.45 ish.

Happy to waych Daisy and team  crash and bash to another dees win

Thousands of fans will go and watch the second half of the reserves aka VFL . AFLW ...sadly alas...no cigar.  According to Austadium.com  some of their crowds for 2021 season were in the 250 -350 range. Only a handful of games over 1000 people.

I'll stop this practice (queueing on the day when I already have a reserved seat - Top of Level 4,) when the MCC/AFL/Clubs or whomever stop treating fans as idiots and they call out Ticketek for the scam it is. $7 bookning fee for a seat nowehere near Row A at 9.05 am on booking day,  and no queue system despite what their website says.

MFC members I know were also badly treated.  Its not just MCC members.

The only thing I trust nowadays is the MCC GF Ballot.  Run inhouse and likely to be highly trustworthy. 2 out of 3 times usually successful.

Fix Ticketek , and until then I'll double dip thank you.

In 2018 to be safe I queued at a ticketek outlet at 5.00am. Second in queue.

When I asked for 2 seats in a suitable bay the Ticketek staff member simply said those seats haven't been released to us for sale.  Pick somewhere else.

    Really?

Dont forget that Australia has corruption issues no different from other countries. Incompetence and laziness is a well known aussie trait.

Ticketek is a scam. Why should the public be forced to buy a ticket to H&W games. Its all about commissions on ticket sales and deals with AFL goons. Ticketek is the same as a bank. They both grift your money electronically. I will never buy anything on line. Pay cash wherever possible.

You want a good seat then go early . Problem is no VFL game to watch so its boring sitting for two hours watching the pidgeons. You think the AFL dont know this. ?

Pre book a ticket and pay a commission and arrive  at the G  30m before siren time.

    Gotcha!

    In Alternate Training ground news....

The Doggies are in for an interesting finals,  walking past Whitten oval this morning, and i see some bright spark has decided Now is the right time to dig up the turf for replacement....  So no training for them.

    Dont matter.

The umps will look after them but they'll still lose.

Their hysterical behaviour on falling into the 8 even beating us after returning from the NT is quite sad really.

So Karl Amon has chosen Hawthorn... Just like Cerra players making the wrong decisions... Oh well

Hawthorn has been a destination club for decades with a clubroom full of recent premiership cups. They wont be down the ladder long and Amon will get a regular game there which he wouldnt at Melbourne.

No-one would put a sizeable bet on the hawks not winning a flag (later) this decade. They"ve won premierships every decade since 1961.
