The intel I have is that Clarry won't be risked next week!

    Hope you are correct.

Not taking things for granted but with Richmond’s injuries, even with having Oliver and Salem out I am not just expecting us to win but am hoping to see a ‘statement game’ and getting a percentage boost.

Following week is the big game against the cats.  Carlscum five days later unfortunately is a bit problematic. Want three wins, will settle for two, nothing less.

  2. My totally uneducated and not researched take is that no matter whose home game it is or how the teams are performing or where they are on the ladder, the Anzac Eve  game nowadays will tend to draw a big crowd.

Shades of the Anzac Day game if that makes sense. A annual pilgrimage.   Putting aside club shenanigans with ticket availability and associated highway robbery costs, I sort of like that it is becoming a big game year in, year out. Makes for a great atmosphere etc. GO DEES!

If we're half serious we should be winning this one by 6+ goals with all their injuries. They have an obscene injury list at the moment.

All the more reason to rest Oliver if his hand is not quite right.  We need him going at 100%

Sadly it appears Salem may of passed his best. Injuries and other issues may of caught up with him. Personally I'm holding judgement until writing him off as he's a one of our smartest footballer's. We can probably adapt his role to make him more than useful into the future.

Hope he gets BOG tonight. Go Salem, go Dees!

Ni, particularly given we play the cats in the previous round, a game likely to be pretty fierce.

Luckily we have a 10 break before our next game - the Eagles.

The only upside is that Carlton play Collingwood the week prior.

Other downside is that it is an ‘away’ game for us, but it is at the G so that should not stop us from rocking up and supporting our boys.

  7. Here are my thoughts on how it should go. If Maynard concussed and finished a player’s career and got let off…. then Kossie’s light hit on a player deserves a warning and maybe a fine…..had he missed, well then that is clearly one week maybe even two.

I find it best not to think too deeply at times.

I'm proud to say that today's match was the first Melbourne game I've attended interstate.

What a bloody win. Couldn't be prouder of the boys.

I was there too.  I know it depends to a large degree on where you sit but from my perspective, Collingwood supporters are far, far more feral than Port’s.
(I still can’t get over how they started chanting their stupid chant when Brayshaw was knocked out cold on the ground in last year’s final).

  9. Always interests me when the squad is announced who will eventually be named the sub come game day.

A suggestion. How hard would it be to create a weekly poll (similar to the one in the thread that asks ‘who is your least favourite team’).

This would give an opportunity for all us armchair experts to pick (or in my case guess) who will be the sub.

If all too difficult, all good, it was just a thought

    In the meantime….GO DEES!

As was pointed out on the Casey thread,

Add in Brayshaw and Smith and we now have 12 players on the injured list.

    It's getting tough

Hang in there bro….we’ll get through this.

I’ve genuinely never had issues with Hawks fans beyond being arrogant when they were a powerhouse side, which I don’t think is unusual for any supporter group.

However on the train ride home yesterday, a bunch of highly intoxicated meathead Hawks fans were incredibly aggressive and abusive to the Melbourne fans, including the kids around them. Dropping f bombs, threatening to beat up anyone who told them to be quiet etc.

It was disgusting and downright scary behaviour. I was relieved they got off the train soon after my dad did or I would have removed myself and waited for another train. In 2024 I would think this type of [censored] would be reserved only for the lowest of Collingwood scums, but apparently not. Haven’t felt this unsafe since the Pies final last year. Not ok!

I’m guessing that this was the Pakenham train.

Dermot kicked four goals with a busted rib in the grand final of 89

That was the game that he got my respect.  He was very good at dishing it out all his career. That game he copped one in return and took it well….and what a GF that was. One of the best ever.
