St. Kilda v Melbourne - Match Preview & Team Selection
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm shocked there was not mention of McKenzie's injury in Misson's weekly injury update. We all know how honest and transparent that segment is! -
As if we needed another reason to hate North Melbourne

I actually don't mind the idea. Imagine queens birthday and the MCG not playing the Collingwood song before or after. Wouldn't mind that at all. As a compromise, if the away team wins, then the song gets played once and once only, regardless of the venue. Everytime we get done at the G, they play the other mobs song about 6 times which is annoying. I remember we got spanked by Gold Coast last year, and they had their song on repeat in front of about 4 people in the crowd while the dees fans had long gone. I reckon in the vfl days some away club songs never got played at some venues?? -
I think you're rght OD. At least the club is being proactive by seeking a second opinion. Clearly their treatment of Chris Dawes's various injuries have been an epic fail given the amount of games and pre-season he's missed. Remember he pulled out of a game, 20 minutes prior to the opening bounce last year.
-
Yes it is my wish list. Based solely on the ever "glass half full" injury list. It says he's 2-3 weeks. I'll be disgusted if he doesn't play before Queens Birthday.
-
Hoping he's going up there to prevent future calf injuries rather than dealing with the current one.
-
Dawes will return no earlier than round 6 V's Sydney. He's out for another 3 weeks. Then he'll spend 2 weeks at Casey. So we'll have 5 games without the big 3 fwds. That's the absolute best case scenario.

Was Dawes anywhere to be seen? The herald sun made a brief reference to him possibly playing against West Coast but that seems optimistic. I would say more likely round 6 v Sydney after 2 games at Casey. -
Toumpas's pre-season form doesn't warrant him a game this week.
-
That's heaps of outs compared to round 1 last year. I think we were only missing Trengove and Dawes (what a shock!)
-
Anyone see Watt's most recent home and away game. Kicked 4.0 as a key forward at Etihad. Repeat that effort on Saturday night and we may sneak over the line. I can't see Fitzpatrick or Pedersen kicking more than 1 goal each.
-
I can see demonland going into meltdown when Jetta gets upgraded and takes JKH's spot in rd 1 as our crumber. Georgiou is the common sense upgrade to play as our 3rd key defender.

When interviewed on SEN, Greg Swan was confident Frawley would stay at Melbourne, when asked whether Carlton would chase him. Said that was the latest info that clubs had been receiving re: Chip.

Practice Match - Casey Scorpions v Williamstown

Hope Kent has a day out. You'd like him to force out the Bails and the Byrnes of the forward line. -
Current injury / fitness status
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Roos can't lose's topic in Melbourne Demons
So a Round 7 return if Misson's past reports are anything to go by. -
And all before a ball is kicked in anger

The air went down in my tyres after the 110 point loss. Whether it's Hawthorn or GWS, a 110 point loss is pretty dismal. -

Anyone confirm Mitch Clark was jogging laps? -
Old Dee I reckon Dawes will play about 7 games and will still have that calf injury by round 5 (de ja vu from last year) and Clark about 3 late season games after a couple of false starts at Casey. Depressing stuff. $1.3 million a year.
-
I honestly can't see much of a difference between rfa and ufa in Frawley's case. St Kilda set the restricted free agent precedent by not matching Goddard's offer. I doubt mfc would match Chip's offer if he was a restricted free agent and entertaining offers elsewhere. Saturday did not help matters.
-
Yeah I'm sure that will be our forward line come round 1 .....

Bleeding in the groin - Richard Douglas of the Crows
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Mono's topic in Melbourne Demons
On a serious note bad loss for the crows. Seriously rate Douglas. They've got heaps of injuries to start the season. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DOM TYSON
Bring-Back-Powell replied to angrydee's topic in Melbourne Demons
Anyone thinks he looks like Darren Jolly? -
That seems quite strange. Would've thought the bookies would've made it even money considering the flogging we just copped and our key Fwds not playing. Plus St Kilda put up a credible performance against a top 5 team on the weekend.St Kilda represent good value for the average punter.

Practice Match - Melbourne v Hawthorn @ Casey Fields
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Byrnes officially lost me in the Gold Coast game last year when he kicked 1.5 in a 13 point loss. I wonder what the final score would've been had he kicked 3.2 or 4.1? -

Can anyone there yesterday evaluate the games of Pedersen and Nicholson? -
Why don't we just take up Geelong's offer of a couple home games a year at Simmonds Stadium. Isn't there like a 300 - 500k cheque attached to each game? Won't have to worry about the effects of the following week and the majority of members can travel down for $20 on the train. ----------- Ahh stuff it what would I know about the economics of footy.
