I don't think I've come across any other professional sport where so many players are homesick for places that are an hour or so away by air or a few hours by road with exactly the same culture, food and language.

    It's actually extraordinary.

Fancy being in a rush to get back to Adelaide.

We’re all scared of losing. It’ll be a nightmare. Picture yourself at the ground with the Collingwood chant ringing out as DeGoey bursts out of the centre and kicks truly from 60, putting the game out of our reach. It’s just you in a sea of filth frothing and singing and cheering. There’s 1000’’s of them, all of them delirious and laughing at you with those toothless smiles. Mocking you and your team as the final seconds tick by, you clinging to the forlorn hope that the boys can kick 5 goals in 90 seconds…..The siren sounds, the crowd erupts as spittle and froth fly through the air and the song starts………….

This is what keeps me awake at night.

I think it's healthy to stare into the abyss 😂

Ok, now I’m [censored] angry. Was amused up until this comment. And whereas I’ve been hoping we beat them - even just by a point - now I want us to absolutely smash them. A hearty dose of humiliation is what’s on the menu. Then we can laugh at the stupid faces of the uncultured swine that are their supporters while they leave the ‘G nice n early, just as many of them did last night at Ikon.

And for dessert? Watching them get knocked out the following week. All those H&A wins for nought.

Did that comment genuinely annoy you? Actually found it quite funny...

Reasonable expectation is that it will be around 93. If the MCC is a lockout which it should be and the corporates show up, it will be above 95.

My understanding is the mcc has never been a lockout since the 2009 (I think) prelim between coll and geel. Not even GFs. But maybe this is the one that does it - melbourne and Collingwood have the 1st and 3rd most mcc members respectively.

Ultimately your numbers are completely incorrect.

MCC is 23K, AFL is about 17K for finals with Medallion club getting 4k (within the AFL reserve). The afl loses Q28 for finals.

That leaves 56K left for the rest of the ground.

The reason the ground doesn't get to 100K is because additional standing room areas become available for the GF, Corporate boxes won't be completely full like they are for a GF, Medallion Club won't be completely full and there will be no shows.

The MCG has seen multiple games that have been "fully ticketed" with the whole ground sold out and the crowds for those games have been 74k, 76K, 78k, 80k, 83.5k and 95K. It is so hard to get to capacity.

Interesting FTB. Where are the standing bays they only open for the GF?

Unlike many, I like goody's vanilla press conferences as he doesn't court controversy and always gives the opposition credit. So I was a bit disappointed with his comments. Came across as a bit sooky and as Cornes points out, the tagger had one less possession than Oliver. Tagging's a valid part of the game and that young fella did a good job against the best midfielder in the comp.

But I do like that robbo sprayed cornes 😂

I'd rather Goody have played a straight bat, because it potentially brings external focus onto Clarry now. If Goody straight bats it, they have nothing to run with.

    It's done now though.

Funny you mention that as I was going to bring it up the other day, but when the camera showed Petracca on the bench on gameday I thought to myself his eyes look shot and wondered whether he was sick at the time, especially given he was a bit off.

Did not look a happy camper on Sunday.

  10. Kozzie is an awful set shot, which has got to be mental given he has sublime skills.

It also seems like everyone missed that he did actually finally take a hanger against Carlton.

In terms of the original question - I'd like to see how he goes in this finals series before making a judgement.

I did a bit later. But at the time I was happy to go with a gut feel.

I don't even know what the stats are but I just find it funny when people say "I haven't seen the stats" followed by several paragraphs of opinions as if the stats aren't accessible at the touch of a button 😂.

They might be on the right track to be half compeditive again in a few years.

It's a big step from being able to be compeditive with good teams for a quarter to half of the season to doing it week in and week out and seriously pushing for finals.

Hope their overconfidence in how great Mitchell and 'the Hawthorn way' are sees them mired in mediocrity for years.

They've beaten 5 of the top 8 this season. I'd love them to be rubbish but I reckon they're going ok sadly.

They still have the arrogance built up from sucessful 80s - 2010 era and a sense of entitlement that they are on a rebuild trajectory that will get them back to that place in just another few years.

I'd love to see them have another decade or two of mediocrity,  where they bobble about between 12th - 9th and then make finals a few times perhaps, but only manage to finish in the 5th - 8th range and get knocked out in elimination, semi and prelim finals without ever really getting close to a flag to give there fans a reality check on what it's like to be a real football supporter.

Their "You Melbourne supporters have become arrogant" remark is just the start of their on the outside looking in journey that they are not use to and don't like the feel of.

Sadly it looks like they're on the right track and will be a force again in the near future. However, they're gonna cop it today.

It’ll come down to selection for me, but if Grundy goes out I think we’re probably 80-20 chance. It’ll lower if he stays in. Max needs to go solo.

Swans, we’re probably 40-60. We lost our last game at the SCG to a last placed Collingwood in 2021. Plus it always seems to rain at the SCG.

How relevant do you reckon a game two and a half seasons ago against different opposition will be to our upcoming fixture against Sydney?
