Thought I read once that Jack Viney was a Hawthorn supporter because Todd was working at the Hawks at the time Jack decided.
Been mentioned but Tarranto, Harmes, Prestia, Buddy, Pendlebury, Gaff, Shuey, McKay are the current day players I know of.
Always liked Andrew Gaff* and now I know why.
* Except for that one time when he caused Gus’s brother to have to drink puréed food through a straw for a while. 😆

Speaking of which, at this point we need someone to set the last 30 seconds and kick to Titanic theme.

It’s clearly got to do with suffering burns since Niki Lauda was badly burned in a fiery crash many years ago. Is it that they all have hot lips? 😁

So Brian Taylor now has something in common with Niki Lauder and Margaret Houlihan.
Hey, that can be this week's quiz! PM answer to me if you know what I'm referring to.
Margaret Houlihan as in Hotlips Houlihan?

Garry Lyon was Chris Juddd's hero. When he was at Caulfield Grammer, he wore number 3 on his back. Scott Pendelbury and his family were Dees supporters. Going back a fair way, Bobby Skilton and his family were ardent Dees supporters.
Wow, he really is a Dees supporter! Soz, just channeling my inner @Demonstone😝

Press play, close your eyes and picture it like you're listening on the wireless. Wonderful!
I just did this. Awesome! And without watching it you hear things you otherwise may not notice. Example, the fake crowd noise is there but you can actually hear our boys let out a huge cheer. You can hear it above the fake crowd cheer.

🙄 Great… Now I’ve gotta watch the end of this match another four times. Like 50-odd viewings isn’t enough. JK. I’ve just made a cuppa and ima sit on the front porch and watch it over again. Soz neighbours… you’re about to hear it a few more times. 😁

I was counting this magical win in 2017:
Edit: Just saw the subsequent discussion re this being at Subiaco so you are right it is two wins at Optus.
Probably still better than other finals contenders.
Thank you so much Luci! I remember that match like it happened yesterday. I cried loud and I cried ugly. Not unlike last Saturday. Difference is, I didn’t know DL existed at the time so I cried loud, ugly, and alone. Happy tears of course. ❤️💙

any particular socio economic, ethnic or other groups stand out?
My first guess would be the elderly. In Poland the younger generations are wholly embracing vaccination. But the elderly are disinclined. My son’s parents-in-law are prime examples. They claim because they live in a tiny village they are ‘safe’ and it just means they will no longer go to Warsaw to see him. It’s gotten to the point where he has to ‘threaten’ them with no more visits unless they get vaxxed. He and his wife, their daughter, can’t convince the old couple that although they’re both double vaxxed, they can still get covid and potentially pass it on to them. Very frustrating.

Buddy Franklin! Is this true? If so, sorta makes me look at him in a different light. I mean, I wouldn’t love him or anything demented like that. But I probably won’t hate him as much.

That’s a hilarious story WCW, also I assumed all this time, you were a bloke! I was also born the year of our last flag, and was 94 days old
I can laugh at it now but at the time it was quite unfunny. This one time Dees narrowly beat the Blues at Princes Park and on the (packed) tram home we were firmly ensconced in Dees fans. They spontaneously broke out singing the song. I forgot where I was (and who I was 😆) and was smiling at them and didn’t realise I was actually mouthing the words! Until my brother nudged me and said “whaddya doing??? That piece of crap team just beat us!” And I’m like, “yeah, piece of crap Demons!”

Great story, WCW. The obvious question though is why? Do you even know, or was it just a vibe? Colours? Players at the time? I’m fascinated…
It’s something that I can’t put into words. I only saw them play twice each year (vs. Carlton) but when I did see them, I dunno, there was something about them. I made a valiant effort to deny it. It would’ve been so much easier to stick with Carlton. But no, I just couldn’t shake the adoration I was feeling. And still feel, even more so now. ❤️💙

Can anybody name a 29 year old trade success story that won premierships after they've had multiple surgeries? ........
James Podsiadly? Wasn’t he traded to Geelong at 29yo? I know he played in the 2011 gf and I’m sure he was their leading goal kicker that year. But can’t remember if he carried injuries that required surgery.
But yeah, few and very far between.- 1

There was so much to unpack in that last two minutes, and unpack it we have. But I just wanted to make another point: how cool, calm and collected was Max in that final play?! First that mark, he made it look effortless. If you just saw that mark, not in the context of the moment, you wouldn’t think so much was at stake. His demeanour didn’t change one iota. Then a few steps into his run up the siren sounds, he stops, glances up at the shot clock, walking backwards to recommence his run up. He was so composed, so focussed, so calm. Unbelievably chill. What a legend!
I’m sure I’m not the only one who hasn’t come down from the clouds, yet. (Not planning to anytime soon, either. 😊)
