Tayla trained really well on Thursday. She wasn’t restricted in any way whatsoever. I know the Club are gonna say publicly that she’s 100% whether or not she is, but I have it on very good and very reliable authority that she legit is 100% and raring to go! Tayla has the added incentive of being 3 for 3 playing in losing Grand Finals (for three different clubs). She’ll be super keen to atone.

Better than expected turnout here at Gosch’s. The vibe is awesome. I haven’t been able to watch training much since I’m too busy burning sausages to a crisp but the little I’ve seen has been a joy to watch. The girls are really happy and confident, and it’s a proper training session, not just for entertainment, although it is indeed entertaining. Any Demonlanders who are here… come on over and say hello. And buy a sausage in bread while at it. 👍🏽 GO DEES!

Good to know that the girls will get a run on the Springfield turf on Saturday. They fly out early on Saturday and have the opportunity to have a Captain’s Run in the afternoon. 👍🏽

I’m standing out front of AAMI Park and the girls are coming back having just had a session on the park. If anyone is worried about Tayla’s shoulder… no need. She was carrying a backpack almost as big as her, laughing and chatting with the others. She looks fine.👍🏽

Lights??? It’s lucky to have goalposts and interchange benches let alone lights. It was supposed to be declared open and ready for use in mid December. That’s still three weeks away, so maybe even having toilets etc. can be considered a luxury.

When we play in Geelong we’re allocated a piddling number of tickets (iirc less than 1000). I don’t know why this is, but it’s a thing. I’m guessing the same applies here. The Lions themselves haven’t had a run on the ground as yet. They’re scheduled to do so tomorrow, for the first time since the new turf’s been laid. I can’t see why we’d decline having a run on it. Therefore my guess is that we weren’t afforded the opportunity. Which is hard to believe, but the whole “fairness” thing seems to have gone the way of many other important things.

I’d guess it’s that we were denied the opportunity. I can’t see us being offered such and refusing.

The Club did get an allocation, and of that a number of tickets were allotted for the Demon Army. Clearly not enough though. I’m sure the Club will be successful in getting them there, it’s just that it should never have come to this. It does seem as though we are taking it all a bit too casually, but I think that’s from the point of view of us fans. On Saturday Kate Roffey, when the subject of potential injuries due to the turf not being ready and the possibility of ensuing lawsuits, was heard to say quite emphatically that she’s “ready for it.” She’s extremely p*ssed off about the venue choice, just as much as we are.

As I mentioned in the other GF thread, Luci, there’s cheer squad members who’ve missed out on tickets. And that’s despite having AFLW as well as Demon Army membership. Their crime? Not logging on within a nanosecond of the tickets becoming available. They’ve booked flights and accommodation, too. Our Club will likely sort something out for them as there’s only a few affected. Point being, this should never have been an issue in the first place.

You’re entitled to rant, Docs D. This is a totally rant-worthy issue. This is how ridiculous it is: there’s cheer squad members who’ve missed out on tickets despite having AFLW and Demon Army membership along with their MFC membership. These are people who are totally invested in the AFLW and haven’t missed a match to date. The Club is currently trying to sort something out for them. But this shouldn’t be an issue, and wouldn’t be an issue had an appropriate venue been selected.
