Rubbish. At least BBB attacks that ball in marking contests, and makes some effort once it hits the ground. I suggest you watch the replay. Weid was not interested in making second efforts.

I saw him lay good follow up tackle at one stage. I think Weid is a very limited footballer, but I think this was just a very quiet game rather than a very poor one. I'm happy to watch the replay, although to me I can understand why tv coverage would make a quiet game look much worse

So today he was bad, but not significantly worse than last week..... which means he was bad then as well but worse today.

I have never seen a bar set quite so low.

Lets hope his surname inspires Collingwood to do something stupid like offering us a late second rounder for him, because thats the best we can hope for.

He might be a fantastic person, but he aint a key forwards bootlace.

I think Brown would have been no better last night to be fair. I was at the game and saw Weid often more competitive in contested situations than last week. Conditions had a big say.

  3. I don't think tonight raises any alarm bells. 1 disposal reads poorly, but saw him presenting well and working hard particularly in the 2nd half. That's not to say it wasn't a poor game , I just didn't feel it was significantly worse than last week

  4. Trying Viney in the defensive forward role again might be worth a shot, just to address the inside 50 tackling. Seemed to make a nice impact there, hard as it may be with him in career best form in the middle lately. Started the season with 5 goals in 5 games too

Jordan with the knee surely is likely to miss???

If so, Lever in, Brayshaw to wing, Salem more dropping off defender

    Hunt or Bowey to Sub

There's no way we go with 4 tall defenders, particularly with rain forecast. It's still Lever for Tomlinson for mine

I think Salem is suffering because Angus is playing that interceptor/outlet role. JJ is also playing well on the wing which makes it hard to shift gus back there.

I wonder if Gus could find a place in the forward mid mix, I think his neat disposal could be utilised there.

Could he move into the Harmes-type role I wonder? We seemed to cover for Harmes well at certain points last year

  7. I still believe in us enough that we can knock off freo or Brisbane over there. But yeah, we are not gonna flick a switch and win it out of the top 4. A lot fell into place last year, good health, easy draw after missing finals  2020.

It's a shame we had the 10-0 start to get our hopes up rather than have losses dispersed throughout the year

I’d say Petty. And I think Brayshaw has generally risen a whisker this season. But yeah, you’d wan’t that list to be much bigger.

Jordon is a clear one too. I'd definitely include Viney, Kozzy and probably Clarry. Saw the best of May too early in the season, not quite as good post-injury

  9. Brayshaw's kicking lacks penetration which would be a lot more forgivable if he was still a midfielder. That said he has the composure and bravery of a defender. We saw some awful ball use from more reliable guys tonight, too. Really liked some of our ball use inside 50 earlier in the game.

Weid and Melksham's leading and passing were assets, however in a pack Weid got outbodied far too easily on multiple occasions

Yes but you were saying two key forwards is today not the best way and Bevo has 3 in this week.

You posted   ( the 2 traditional tall setup is not very successful nowadays and I think Goody sees this. )

Except my point was more about the type of player they are, than purely their position, hence the word traditional. I guess we'll let Bevo decide what suits him best and have the results do the talking, JUH flourishes more as a main target it seems. Goody's stubborn and often unpopular selection has proved fruitful more often than not

In fairness to Weid, he hasn't been give the opportunity to at least work in tandem with Brown.

Goody speaks about building cohesion within the team but yet refuses to at least give the Weid/Brown combo a decent crack. They've played 4 games together this year alone and only 1 last year. How are they're suppose to build chemistry if you're just going to chop and change your 2nd key tall from AFL to VFL every 2nd week.

I've been one of Weids biggest critic this year with some of his performances, but right now our forward line is still a shambles playing the one tall. The opportunity has been there since McDonald went down.

The 1 tall forward line alongside Gawn/Jackson as support is just completely out of wack because both Gawn and Jackson simply don't have the forward instinct and craft in them.

It got exposed against Geelong and just survived against Port thanks to a 170cm star small forward.

we are desperate for another target, yes, but the question is what pressure they can provide when we don't have the ball, which seems a majority of the time in recent weeks, which explains the Bedford (which hasn't worked) and now Melksham selections.

  12. I think Weid is fine, without Brown, just don't think Weid/Brown works at all, the 2 traditional tall setup is not very successful nowadays and I think Goody sees this. Neither is particularly quick or good at ground level. You look at Cameron/Hawkins and Curnow/McKay and you have the more traditional big and then the very agile one who is a threat when the ball hits the ground

I dropped by briefly and couldn’t sight Fritsch, so good to hear he was out there!

Didn't have his number on, and wore a beanie, so he was a little hard to spot at a glance

  14. Had a look today. Brown/Weid/Fritsch/Melksham and Jackson in a forward group to begin, marking on jumping bag, leading/goal kicking. Petty/May/Lever/Tomlinson/Rivers/Hibberd in defensive group. Lever mostly used as designated kicker during drills

Rest of side were doing stoppage/ ball movement work at this stage

Team then moved into match sim, notably Brown stood watching from the side, seems to be some issue

Only omission from the main group in the 26 was Dunstan, who ran out with the secondary group afterwards.

Petracca/Fritsch trying to get a lot of set shots in

Clarry in a glove and handballing with the left

    No roof

Without one the product could be terrible. Remember Tassie have never had a night game

With a State funded clean stadium seating say 35k the Tassie team could stack up. It would mean big $$ every year from the State. This is effectively what NFL teams do.

Build me a stadium/new stadium or we move !!

They've had several night games. North v Richmond on a Friday a few years back, hawks have definitely had a few
