Don't get me wrong I don't like it one little bit...give me hardened players with grunt any day of the week. I was just stating what "I think" the club were doing. I feel sick in the stomach that we potentially have a prissy pants silver spoon fed private school boy for life on our list..
-
It's relevant to to current pressure both he and the club are under with his progression/development. In the lead up to that game there was intense scrutiny on his past performances and justification on being picked at number one. I personally feel the club played it safe by not taking the risk of him putting in a sub standard performance against players he should supposedly dominate against. The potential damage factor im referring to, would have been caused by the media, not the game day performance. That's the point I'm making.
-
This. I believe this to be exactly the reason he was the sub last week. The club were protecting him. If he didn't perform against 18 year olds, the media would have torn him & the club another one and could have done irreperable damage to his development.

Roost it I missed your hunch in relation to Tapscott, could you repeat it for me? -
Scully Out for Another ... now ... back to Six Weeks
Beetle replied to Allen Jakovich's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'd prefer Jordy back in the side before Scully anyway. He's a yard stick for us in the middle. -
There is not one quote from Ablett in that article that remotely alludes to the fact that he said he is confident that can beat us. I expect him to say exactly what was printed being captain of the Suns however. Rubbish article.

Scully's management to talk to Melbourne this week
Beetle replied to SoNotFunny's topic in Melbourne Demons
You're right rpfc, i'm stepping away from this now, I don't want to get drawn any further into the speculation. What will be will be. I'll just keep my fingers crossed. -
Scully's management to talk to Melbourne this week
Beetle replied to SoNotFunny's topic in Melbourne Demons
What I said has nothing to do with when he signs, it doesnt bother me when it is he signs. For what it's worth, I believe his management are doing the right thing by Tom in holding off contract negotations until the end of the year to increase his market value. I'm referring to the fact that I believe if he chooses to go the GWS (despite the huge amount of money that will be thrown at him), turning his back on potentially a much more fulfilling, successful career at a more successful club in the immediate future, then he did not want to be at the MFC. -
Scully's management to talk to Melbourne this week
Beetle replied to SoNotFunny's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was making the statement, putting his playing ability and obvious personal dedication aside, referring purely to the fact that I want players at the MFC who want to be at the MFC. Clearly I want Scully at Melbourne and as stated would HATE to lose him, but I also dearly want to him to WANT to be at our club. -

I agree withe the sentiment of what you are saying but I think saying there is a correlation between a football club and a banking organisation is going a bit far. Football is a game driven by passion and more often than not "playing for the jumper". Working for a bank doesn't derive the same such emotion, it's a desk job that has no supporters. The money side of things I do agree with you on though.. -
Scully's management to talk to Melbourne this week
Beetle replied to SoNotFunny's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agreed. Regardless of the sums (possibly) being offered, if he's decided to leave the MFC this early into his career it will show that he never loved the club and never wanted to be a part of it. I'm prepared to give him more credit than that at this stage though, (note at this stage), I want him to stay but if it all comes to fruition and it comes to the above, then he's not the sort of player you want at the club anyway. -
We'll wear them down next half. Warnock is simply embarrassing himself out there..
-
The modern game's too fast for Warnock..
-
Jimmy and Eddie have a lot in common. When they speak everyone listens.. The difference is no-one cringes when Jimmy speaks..
-
Dont get me wrong I don't care much for the ad itself.. I was more responding to the original post about "stealing" our ideas..
-
We are not even a blip on the radar of the Collingwood Football Club. Why would they care what we have done in the past..things that only a MFC supporter would even remember or recognize (yes I was there in 1987). Until the point in time our club stamps it's authority we have no business in attempting to have an opinion on the marketing tactics of a club like Collingwood right now to be brutally honest.

Oh here we go....Kevin Sheedy is about to come onto SEN with KB, watch the petrol get poured onto the fire now..
-
yeah I agree Rhino, bloody KB announced it like Bailey had called for an official press conference, then it turned out to be nothing more than bailing Bailey up after a training session, I suspect in front of a Hancook Tyre's/Kyspersky pull up screen, loaded with quaestions about Scully.
-
haha....you're right it's not.
-
No revelations there mate. Basically said it's all speculation. I did like this though: Female reporter - "Have you heard the latest rumour?" Bailey - "What's that?" Female reporter - "That he's signed.." Bailey - "Has he? Oh well...."
-
Here's a scenario for you. It's confirmed that Scully has signed during the season. R Barassi jumps the fence after a game and rips the number 31 guernsey off Scully's back and gives him the death stare. Gold!
-
SEN have just reported that Dean Bailey has just helf a press conference re Tom Scully, stay tuned.
