Unless we get a godfather offer or another key forward coming in we should hold him to his contract. Even if we end up getting less for him at end of 2025 it gives us two more years to have a crack at a flag with him while Gawn, May, Viney are still around. You gotta strike while the irons hot, no point planning for the future when now is the time to win flags.

I agree…but I got the feeling there was an agreement to “stay one more year”.

I know you can't judge everything on game day but he looked as invested as ever on the field last week and was sticking up for his teammates such as Max when Hawks players had a crack at us.

Makes you wonder what's changed in terms of his homesickness from October 2021 when he committed medium term (2025) to the current day where he is allegedly desperate to come home.

I can’t answer that sorry mate. As I said it may be money related or it may not be.

That was purely what I was told in a conversation from a very reliable source.
Of course the club will do everything they can to keep him, they just don’t think they’ll be able to.

  3. The club are resigned to the fact now we will likely lose him at year’s end.
I was originally of the understanding he was more than happy here, but they held him to his contract for this year given how important he is to our side.

Whether it be the money or not, he is apparently “desperate to get back to SA”.

  4. It’s pretty simple for me.

I collectively despise Collingwood, Richmond and Essendon the most.

However only one team’s supporters have the ability to remain completely incorrigible, delusional and arrogant beyond the realms of comprehension, even when they are garbage….and that’s Essendon.
This comes even after having to restrain myself during games from the baiting of Collingwood supporters in the past couple of years.

The other takeaway that I thought was great to hear was they're getting back to having fun and enjoying the game again, I get the feeling that after '21 they sort of had a determination that was almost feeding back in as anxiety. There has been almost a fear of failure and I feel like like that has been on show with our two straight sets exits. The last two weeks they look like they're playing with a bit of freedom and enjoyment, yes there's still the determination to win and them working to a system, but it's back to remembering that it is a game. He said he's got the dream job, so why not enjoy it.

There are no expectations on us this year, with the heavy media emphasis on our “disastrous” off season…they are off us and we are no longer considered the hunted.

Can only be a good thing in my opinion. Hopefully we can continue to fly under the radar and just keep chalking up wins. Next two weeks are crucial, especially if we are without both May and Lever. I’ll be happy to walk away with 1 from 2 and sit 3-2 after round 5 (or 4 according to the AFL fixture).

  6. My old man who was a Collingwood supporter was recruited to Melbourne from Dandenong High School as a 15 year old and went on to captain the under 19s in the mid 50s.

He went on to play reserves for the club during the golden years but sadly never managed to play a senior game. He then left to play for Springvale in the Premier League.

The rest is history and I was born with a hand knitted red and blue jumper.

    It’s a love hate relationship.

Actually, same here. I’ve spoken to her a few times and she’s not nearly as friendly as the other girls. Also, I’ve never liked how invested she is in her media career, seems like it takes priority over her playing career. I kinda wasn’t surprised to hear she wants to leave us.

    Media career? Jeepers.

Can barely string two words together and a voice like fingernails down a blackboard.

    Anyway….good luck to her.

What a blow. This is happening way too fast, so many leaving/wanting to leave at the same time and it’s very hard to process atm. 💔

Thank the league for expanding the competition far too quickly for this. Not a big enough talent pool across the country to draw on.
New clubs coming in throwing cash around at the existing clubs to climb the ladder as quickly as they can.

Was always going to happen sadly.

Surely the Club have learnt by now and have included WCW warnings as part of the new players induction. Kol either missed it, or he decided to just take his chances. Mind you, he wouldn't has stood a chance if WCW was stalking him.

And by the way WCW, next time you do your makeup, please use a mirror.

He’s great. Up until today I was having trouble warming to him. I got the impression he was a cocky little upstart. I even told him this. He said he appreciates my honesty and that he understands how people may see him that way. He’s definitely confident and seems really self-assured but not overly. I’m sold on him.

Well if he goes against his word and does move back to WA we will blame you for being so honest.

    Get excited y’all. 🥳

He’s definitely ready to play imho. Not just physically ready, but mentally so. I just had a long chat with him (he’s new, he’s not yet aware of how much of a nutcase I am 😁). He’s mature beyond his years. He said the players are “amazing” with how they’ve made him feel welcome and that they’re all super close and he loves our Club environment. He’s “stoked” to have been selected by the MFC. I said, “what about this go home factor with you young blokes, especially you WA boys?” I barely finished the question and he said, “Nah, no way. No way at all. I’m a one-club player.” He told me he asked for jumper #39 because he loves Lewis Jetta. He is such a great addition!

Caleb and Kynan both look as though they need to fill out quite a bit.

Nev WCW? Lewis was 32 and 23. 👀

    I really like this kid.

This is a great interview with Koltyn Tholstrup on 6PR in WA. Koltyn spoke very well and wants to play Round 1 2024. Arriving in Melbourne on Saturday and at training on Monday.

So much better than the interview on SEN with those peanuts Gossage and Cummings who were already trying to plant a biased “go home” seed.

The kid sounds switched on and very well spoken for his age.

We got 42 as well which we probably won't use.

I was more disappointed to see him go rather than hope we were going to draft him though. Could have been useful and wouldn't have been unhappy if we took him at 13.

We traded 42 to the saints before the draft started for their future third rounder.

Would have liked to see him when he was called out as a Dees player tbh.

Would have been nice if there was a camera set up at his place given he wasn’t at the draft.

Every time i hear we get a player from perf I worry about the go home factor.

No electricity at his house. That’s how tough he is.

Let's try to be positive here. We had a clear need for more speed and outside talent. This kid directly addresses that and I'm sure we wouldn't have taken him at 7 if we were sure he'd be there at 13. JT has given us no reason to distrust his ability to find talent (especially bolter talent).

There’s a reason GWS traded pick 8 to the Crows. They were set to take him.
