Max Gawn admitted in a post match interview on 774 that he was out on his feet in the last quarter and that Minson virtually had a free run in the ruck.

What's the strength (if any ) of other codes in Tasmania? Is there a concern for the AFL in that regard?

How long do we need to remind people that it"s TrenGOVE and not TrenGROVE!!!!! The man's our Captain for heavens sake. TrenGOVE, TrenGOVE say it again and again!!!

And to get this topic back on track:- Good luck Mitch, you're another reason to turn up on a cold Saturday evening in winter!

Thanks guys, I was never quite sure where the line of command went with Mahoney, Craig, Schwab et al. Seems to have been a bit of a balls up eh! But I suppose my real surprise is that with all the corporate heavyweights on the board no one saw fit to tighten up the lines of communication/job descriptions!
-
We seem to hear little about Mahoney in current discussions. Can someone tell me: what was his position at the club i.e. what did he actually do and how does his new job differ from his old one?
-
I cannot stand the man, IMHO a real piece of s*#t. I wonder how he would get on with the MCC committee and Steve Smith (future MCC president)!!!!!

Stan Alves didn't jump ship, he was pushed. And he luckily landed on his feet at North! I also remember Greg Wells saying that while at Carlton he kept a keen eye on the performance of Melbourne as he still cared for us. I reckon Greg's heart is very much red and blue! As for GH, he really did jump ship and I couldn't care less about him.
-
Greg's title is (I understand) president Asia Pacific for Quicksilver. They haven't been performing too well of late so his mind may be on matters other than his role at Melbourne. But I understand Billabong are not doing too well either!
-
Greg Healy might be an early casualty, given the current fortunes of "Quicksilver"! So we may need a new football director anyway! And if rumours are true (and they are often not), I don't mind the idea of Williams/ Junior at the coaching helm!

I believe one of his grandparents was Sir John Moore Chief Justice some years ago of the Arbitration Commission. As he's studying law maybe he wants to follow in granddad's footsteps.

Both you and Mr Rino make the same assertion to have us taken over by the AFL. Is that possible? Would our constitution allow such a move? Surely the members would need to vote on the matter at an extraordinary general meeting! Wow what a meeting that would be!!!!! All you lawyers - can the AFL just step in?

A friend of mine taught him at school and reckons he lacks for little in leadership talent. His older brother was a good footballer as well but took a different career path to Chris. ps: Chris was a "mad" Geelong supporter as a kid!

He plays a trumpet NOT a bugle - big difference.A reincarnated Miles Davis would boost crowd numbers! -
Should the board be challenged at the end of the year?
Dee Dee replied to Diablo Deemon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Can it? No it cannot! Dreaming? No! But I would argue that Jackson certainly can recommend with some authority. -

Jackson cannot sack board members: however club members can! Board members may resign (to be replaced mid term by a nominee) or they can be challenged at the AGM. Who knows, Jackson may whisper in the ear of a board member or two, but he cannot kick 'em out. We elect, we sack!!! -

Dee Dee replied to Diablo Deemon's topic in Melbourne Demons
From what I read and from infrequent chats to board members, none of them are [censored] (quite the opposite) but like many big business people they can be big headed, opinionated and intransigent. I believe being on the board of a football club is a bit of an ego trip, and being on the board of an AFL club is quite time consuming and probably requires that person to be somewhat financially independent or at least be in a position to give generously of their time. Thus the proliferation of CEO's, solicitors, senior accountants etc on the board. If anyone wants to challenge for a board position, please go ahead. But please ensure that you have a clear picture of what you want done, in what direction you want the club to head (up, up and further up), you have plenty of time and you and your fellow directors have the balls to see the job through. And please, no "we're going to make this the greatest football club in the land" type public statements. Think it but don't say it in public. -
We used to have a development league: the thirds (or under 19's) plus the seconds. Players could get a thorough schooling through that system and be fully integrated into the club without needing to be pushed up too soon. Maybe we do need our own VFL team where development and not necessarily winning is of major importance.

He didn't respond as others were quick to question him about aspects of the game e.g. "what did Neeld say at 3/4 time".(Can't remember his answer - concentrating driving out go MCG car park ). As for bringing the matter up: I thought Shaw's comment was interesting "and" I thought Howe handled himself well and was pleased to be part of the team!
-
During post match interview yesterday on 3AW: Shaw: How long's your current contract? Howe: Another 3 years! Shaw: Gee that's bad luck, I'd love to see you in Black and White!!! And I reckon a few others around the footy world would have the same thoughts (different colours maybe)!
