And if he was concussed he would be getting a month or more not a week
Sorry @Garbo - for clarity I was using this as a rebuttal to the claims of "sniper", "dog", "dirtiest player in the game" accusations rather than disputing the MRO charge.

100%. Soligo was a sitting duck and Koz could have levelled him and caused serious damage.
But he didnt.

Do they have wifi so we can trade half the list in the Gameday Thread?

Sounds a lot like "my mate Shannon worked at the Dees so i liked them - now he doesn't they're done". Slow news day.

The AFL will change the Father/Son points system so Kalani, Noah and Marley cost us 3 first rounders.
Meanwhile pick 40 and 42 Nick Daicos will be collecting the Brownlow.

Weird how "theres a clear top 8 and then a big gap" and "i cant see any changes to the top end of this draft" has been the narrative for a month and now every club is into Leake having got whisper we like him.
I'd guess this chap was our target/reason for trading for pick 11 and now possibly have to use 6 on him? Who knows. But funny how every club is obsessed at who JT likes.

We gave them pick 10 and future pick 10 for Lever. Turned it into Petty.
Will take pick 10 and Pick 14 and received Lever for free. And if they don't want to pay we just keep Petty until RFA. We hold all the cards here.

Ross Lyon thought it was unacceptable and Chris Scott thought it was unacceptable. Very experienced footy men with no skin in the outcome. Whole thing stinks.

Hugely frustrating but the only reason we lost that was missing gilt edge opportunities. Some of the misses were inexcusable. Langdon playing on, Picket with time and space 15m out etc etc. The "method" created more than enough to win the game, as shown by the expected score.

The point most people are missing in this is that he was in the AIR.
He won't get weeks due to the fact he was in the air and had no reasonable means to avoid contact unlike someone who has two feet planted on the ground..
The intention was the Smother also, not to bump. And his last action was to brace whilst mid air.
It's vastly different.
Sorry - slow to reply and others have got there first.
Other options available. Turn in left shoulder and avoid contact altogether. Land with arms straight and push off him. Land in cuddling motion.
If it was entirely unavoidable why is this the first case we've seen all season? I assume noone has ever left the ground for a front of smother this year then? Or they have but theyve chosen all the other optuons available and not tried to level their opponent.

Can't fault our mental toughness, heart and desire to compete. It's admirable for sure and says a lot about how far we've come and the kind of culture we've created. Clearly we're respected.
Ultimately we lost the game in a way that has been a trend for how long now? Too long. Years.
Oliver is a great example tonight of what too many of our players do. Bomb shallow, high, sometimes long. Just zero composure. That was as close to as the most non-infliential 30 touch game I've seen from someone and he gave aw
And for those saying Maynard should get weeks, you have no idea. He jumped in the air to smother. That was the football action. And once in the air, could not do a thing to stop his body colliding into Brayshaw's.. Extremely unfortunate for Gus and Melbourne supporters, but if you cannot see it for what it is, you have a serious Melbourne bias and just completely unreasonable. Some of the comments on here are hilariously embarrassing.
Maynard is scum, but he actually did nothing wrong.
Hard disagree.
Plenty of other options available. Took the opportunity to level someone out because it was there under the protection that your kind of analysis provides.
I do agree he will definitely get off. Channel 7 set the agenda immediately. You could tell at half time Dangerfield felt it was unacceptable but didn't want to upset the apple cart

The club would surely ask Burgo off the record for his opinion....nothing to worry about there IMO

"We weren't the better side?"
Pretty sure we were for 2.5 quarters. Equalled up nearly all stats after giving them a huge start - i50s ended up 53-48. More scoring shots and left plenty short as well.
Close game. Let them have their day, it happens. Very confident we reverse that result in September.

Seems obvious we have two styles of play.
A) Slow, long down the line, bomb into fwd 50 pockets to create a stoppage. Trap it in, high time in fwd half %, control the tempo = 2 rucks on ground, 1 resting fwd, scoring from stoppage
B) fast, counter attack through the corridor off intercept marks/turnover or created from overlap runs. = 1 ruck on the ground, 1 on the bench, scores from turnover.
My guess is the FD think we need a mixture of A and B to take out the prize. Perhaps they feel B isnt sustainable for 4 quarters. Collingwood are only doing B and bombed out in finals dont forget.
Brodie will be in our best 22 come finals.

In rd 13 2022 the 10-2 demons played the 7-5 pies who ran over the top of us. @binman analysis of that fixture is that was to be expected as we were loading and more heavily than Collingwood due to our 10-0 start and so therefore it was predictable that would happen.
Do you therefore think that we should temper our excitement over this win? Do you think it is more of a routine win than a statement win given Collingwood are probably loading more heavily than us around the bye given our 7-4 start vs their 11-1. Was plenty of talk from Goody and others inside the walls that we were targetting this match and probably more so than Collingwood?
Or is the lid off and should i be booking flights back from London for the Granny?
Thanks for reading my Question Andy @Demonland and thanks for your answer @binman .
Just wanted to clarify I'm not an anti-loader and wholeheartedly agree with your answer. I agree it would be dangerous for us to drink our own bathwater after this result. (and already eyeing up a punt on GWS in the NT - GAMBLE RESPONSIBLY).
Pies in September will be a very close game.

Fellow D'landers.
I am currently overseas and was planning to watch the game via watchAFL.com.au.
However it is a daylight robbery, 24 dollars for one week! (it's basically what I am paying for my monthly Kayo sub).
Isn't there anyway to pay "on demand" (i.e. just for the one game)?
TIA.
Unfortunately youll have to suck it up, unless you want to add an overseas membership with the club and then you get "free" access. Ive tried with VPNs before but the geo blocking is pretty good. If you are in the UK its televised.

Rewatched the first half. Both teams fell in a hole due to fatigue for the last 10 mins of the 2nd quarter but prior to that we wrre excellent. Those lamenting our ball movement should go and rewatch because we opened them up a number of times for easy marks inside 50. We just kicked 1.5 from those set shots.
Loved Tracs game, so mature. McVee, Salem, Bowzer what a great trio we have there. Just quietly I think Grundy is starting to settle in very nicely indeed.
This was a game we were in total control of, bookies had the line at 15, we won by 17 and expected scote was far higher again. Adressed some issues around stoppage and clearance. Not sure what some people want, its June, Rome wasnt built in a day etc etc
On a final note in Kozzie's flying, i'd be surprised if the coaches are trying to coach out his enjoyment and natural instincts. Think he would be the worse for it (theyve clearly focussed on adressing his rough conduct instead).
Time to look forward to KB.
