Yeah you raise a good point player for player and a pick for a pick is not un common and due to the deepness of the draft evern getting one of our higher picks a little lower would be a massive result! but no one will want our players to get a lower pick. Also Greg Bentley. Sounds stupid about Bentley but he is a Half Back flanker who has a decent left foot and is solidly built unlike most of our team. Also as shown last year with Wheatley gettin a [censored] load of the ball I believe our HBF's are being used to set up attacking options. pick up grima for free in psd and trade carrol for bentley backman for backman

Wishing I think. With the Gold Coast consortium coming in there is no chance on earth that clubs are going to trade early picks. hence why i think trading for players is going to be a lot bigger than in recent years.

I think our problem lately has been that we have too many midfielders on our list but they keep getting injured. But a ruckman and a key forward are a must. One option could be getting Nicknat at pick one or even Vickery and getting Nathan Grima from the Kangaroos in a trade or psd as he was on a rookie list for one year and did his knee five weeks into pre season. I know Nathan aswell and he is a solidly built forward or Back who last year was pivotal in Central Districts grand final win in the SANFL, we can get him for nothing in the PSD and he is only 24.

Buckley is as quick as they come but he needs to put on some muscle and Jones looks slow but he is actually quite fast. Correct only two problems with those two are Buckley can't kick to save himself as yet, but is getting a lot better and Green I believe is still a forward. He has played back there as we have had noone as of late that has his leadership and marking ability to back into a pack and take a mark. If Rivers gets back to health then I think we will see Green moved forward again as he has shown in the pastv he can kick goals when left forward.

Correct you are. All this business of only getting under 23s in nonsense imo. Sure get some under 23s but that is what the draft is for. We currently need players with afl experience and getting someone who may be 26 will make no difference. Haha na i am one eyed Melbourne. Living in Tassie there are not too many of us down here so we have to stick together down here lol. Well not for long anyway lol coming home to Melbourne soon so i can actually go to some Melbourne games now. I DESPISE COLLINGWOOD lol.

This may seem a silly thread lol but oh well here we go . Does Melbourne Football Club need to stick to the draft or trade this off season period. I believe that we need to do a bit of both because, yes we are in a rebuilding stage and the kids will be very beneficial to us however with our recruiting of recent times i always hold my breath. Also a player available for trade who is proven at AFL level is very much worth a look at. I know we need to stick to the draft for kids but with our current finiancial crisis we are going to need results very soon otherwise we will find sponsors walking away from the club potentially costing us millions of dollars of which we do not have. One or two players that have afl experience I believe are necessary to our continuing development as we are going to need to start winning some games.

I agree with that assumption Colin is a very athlectic player as shown by the job he did on Lance Franklin we need to recruit a forward that can lead us for a number of years because our problem is scoring goals.

Personally I would love to see Ben Cousins at Melbourne although i highly doubt Dean Bailey would allow it. We need to chase a big KPP forward in the draft or trade for one because that is what we are lacking. Midfield and Backline is surprisingly good as shown when we played the premiers Hawthorn and only lost by about 18 points. We have shown our major deficiency is our scoring as shown by the fact out major goalkicker kicked only 26 goals and our second leading goalkicker wa someone promoted off the rookie list. Cousins would be perfect for the leadership he exudes and the class that he will bring to our young group but I honestly cannot see Dean Bailey recruiting him unfortunately.

Might be that Cornes has heard something about Didak accepting that Collingwood are going to trade him? Sort of an accepting his fate a bit. Maybe thats it. But I'm sure he's got one year to go on his contract so we've got him for another year until we can find a deal to our liking. With O'keefe wanting out of the Swans, the Kerr rumours, and the Didak rumours its going to be an interesting trade week.

Cornesy (Graham Cornes) on FIVEAA just announced the rumour. These guys (unlike SEN) dont spout many rumours at all. Anything in it??
