DEMONS SECURE FINANCIAL SUPPORT (eventually)
Demon_Tingles replied to Yencks's topic in Melbourne Demons
Brilliant. Thank god that the MCC saw sense and came to the aid of the club that it has been with for a long long time. A victory for Melbourne. -
I tried that by clicking on join but it is just a blank background

DEMONS SECURE FINANCIAL SUPPORT (eventually)
Demon_Tingles replied to Yencks's topic in Melbourne Demons
Totally agree with you there Diablo. Especially with the ugly duckling scenario. One thing that the MFC needs desparately is SPONSORS get off your asses Melbourne and find some and do it quickly. -
Haha I didnt mean to start that debate I just meant with the talent we now have surely it would not be that difficult to get a major sponsor. I mean this is the oldest club in football and one with a rich tradition that is playing Australia's national sport of AFL. I mean for god sakes Sandringham have more sponsors than we do.

DEMONS SECURE FINANCIAL SUPPORT (eventually)
Demon_Tingles replied to Yencks's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was just wondering. Does the AFL contribute cash to Western Sydney yet to get it up and running. If so I am going to murder that ringworm Andrew Demetriou. Now Tassie has the funds to make a start and sponsorship on an AFL club and also a rich tradition of football in the state yet the [censored] at the AFL still want Western Sydney. Surely to god if the AFL is giving west sydney money they should pick Tasmania first and hence we might get some more cash off of the AFL to help us back on our own two feet. -
Gday again demonlanders it has been a while since my last post but that was due to the fact I moved to Melbourne. Now on my agenda is a question. Has the Melbourne Football Club found a sponsor yet as surely that would help us in our times of financial crisis. From memory ( I may be wrong) but didn't we lost Primus as a sponsor at the end of last year. Richmond announced a new one today http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl...9-19742,00.html So it reminded me that I do not know if we have found one yet. With the exciting times ahead with us gaining the number one national and pre season draft picks surely the people that are employed to get off their asses and find some sponsors can use that to our advantage. Surely we cannot go into the season with no sponsor on our team polos or jumpers. http://www.foxsports.com.au/common/imageda...,6374709,00.jpg

Now that we have secured Watts at number 1 and a few more promising youngsters surely now we can get a major sponsor on board. The photos yesterday of the Melbourne recruits in their team polo shirts were good until there was an ugly blank bit where the sponor goes. Does anybody know if we are close to securing a major sponsor because yesterday we got the picks and players we wanted however looked very silly without a sponsor on the shirt of the club.

Players permitted to train with AFL clubs
Demon_Tingles replied to alpha33's topic in Melbourne Demons
haha out of all the players available we have Daniel Hughes training with us who has already been delisted 2 yrs ago . Oh my god we are pathetic at the moment. -
A slow injury prone nutter. NEXT And You would know this how ? from a couple of posts from people who have no idea. He is not that slow and I am sure he could beat nath jones in a footrace, he is tough as nails which is what we need at this club and has decent skills. I have played against Tom in Tasmania when he played for a club called Burnie and he is hard at the ball and will do anything in his power to get it. As for injury prone that is crap he has only been in the system three years and most of them he wasn't injured. If a player picks up two injuries it doesn't mean they are injury prone. Every single afl player has injuries at some point even robert harvey missed basically 2 years with knees and hamstrings.

I would be surprised if there already weren't a lot of children around with cousins as their favourite player. I don't think that parents would have a say in their fave player also as i said before he would be very useful for the younger guys to talk about stuff like that and how it affects your life. He could be benificial to the club and also the afl in talking kids out of drugs.
-
I agree with the statement about Cousins bringing in members. IMO that would work as he was a genuine superstar of the game he won a brownlow medal played in a premiership won a rising star award and was a great player. I mean the way to measure this was his first game back last year and he comes out and gets 38 posessions. He would be a fantastic addition to the club and if he is over his addicton would be very useful for the younger guys to talk about stuff like that and how it affects your life to stop the young ones from letting their career slip away like say Nathan Carrol. IMO it would be benificial to recruit Cousins to the club, however I doubt that we will make a play for him unfortunately.

Congratulations boys a fantastic effort. I apologise for not being able to play. I injured my knee in Tasmania just before i left and have been on crutches since. Also i only just moved back to Melbourne I couldnt find a computer to get the details for the match. As I now have one I would love to play in the next one. Please keep me informed

If he has genuinely put on weight then i see no reason not to draft him with a late pick. People tend to judge too quickly on this bloke. It was not his fault that Al Clarkson threw him onto big big players when he was a small lad. Every backman has bad days and it says a lot about his character that he went to the gym, put on the weight and subsequently started playing some good football for Box Hill.
-
I agree. he actually started to show some form this year and was one of the best kicks of a football coming off half back in our side. We need to keep young talent at the club.
