  1. Visy package so many products....impossible to boycott them!
  2. Col played well in a praccy match last year too. His problem is he plays well in the games that don't matter, and goes missing in the games that do.
  3. They were creative because as soon as the AFL vetoed their arrangement with Sportsbet, they picked up the phone and sured up a deal with Luxbet. Within days. If only it were that easy for everyone. Maybe you're right, but in that case perhaps the club would be best saying NOTHING on the sponsor issue, rather than pretending we're close to a deal. You've only got to see those sad photos in todays paper with no sponsors logo on them to realise we're still on the market.
  4. Everyone knows the club is chasing a sponsor, but I just think playing these games and saying we are close to signing one etc is actually more detrimental in the long run. Supporters are being given false hope, the club looks stupid because we've been "close to signing a sponsor" for three months now. What has the club done publicly to push for a sponsor? Why not show you're desperate for one? Why not be creative in the media and do something where you are on the front foot, rather than back paddling up the river with a lot of rubbish about us just missing out on a sponsor and being close to finding one? Richmond had Sportsbet lined up, the AFL knocked it back...so Richmond were proactive and went after a betting agency who the AFL would allow to sponsor an AFL team (Luxbet). If I was a prospective sponsor, aren't you alienating these people by constantly telling the media that you're close to making an annoucement? If the club said "we are miles off finding a sponsor" as opposed to "we've nearly got a deal done and will be hopeful of tidying the deal up next week"...well I reckon we'd have more interest if the club were honest about it.
  5. The club is dropping more [censored] than a person with diarrhoea... For weeks now the club has promised that they are close to finding a sponsor...yet constantly failing to deliver. Perhaps we should find a puppet company to sign up, or should that be muppet company? Either way, thats whats running...or should that be ruining...a once great club.
  6. I always just go to http://www.tinypic.com/ Upload the photo, and paste the URL it gives into the post. That shouldnt take long for 10 pictures. If you had a lot more there are probably other quicker ways to do it.
  7. So Dazzle can play...good news!! Did the Carlton ex-AFL player make an appearance?
  8. Gee how mature are you? The way you write and spell, you've certainly got the IQ of a Collingwood supporter. timD, you make some good points. It depends whether the AFL are more concerned with those 250,000 supporters you indicate the AFL would lose if a club like Melbourne disappeared, or if they're more concerned with their plans to grow the game in Sydney and QLD.
  9. Or 3AWful as I call it.
  10. When I see something positive happen, I'll think positive. All I'm saying is I don't blame Dwayne for making those comments, the club hasn't got a lot of respect from me at the moment and I barrack for the club. I know some people dont like kicking the club while its down, but at the same time I think its good that media people are criticising things and causing trouble because somebody needs to keep the board accountable.
  11. And some of our supporters need to pull of the rosed coloured glasses and realise the place is a shambles!!!
  12. You remind him of that, I bet he'll then remind us of how much we lost in one season. The Debt Demolition will mean nothing if the MFC have another year like last year.
  13. Probably the only kick O'Hailpin had all day!!
  14. Why shouldn't he say it? He's probably right. I'm not Dwayne's biggest fan either, but if we remove the blinkers of being a Melbourne supporter, I actually agree with him. I've got mates and work colleagues who have been saying the same for 12 months. Right now the MFC is totally insignificant. The league (and in turn other clubs) are propping the club up financially, on and off field the clubs a basket case, nobody wants to sponsor us, the TV networks don't want a bar of our games, the MCC seems to prefer Collingwood and other clubs with drawing power over us. Do you honestly think we're important? There are 15 other clubs streets ahead right now. And if we were gone, I doubt too many people would care. We don't have the image and I doubt we'd get widespread support like what Footscray and North Melbourne did in their troublesome times from the average football fan. We're not a club too many people have a 'soft spot' for.
  15. It seems the MFC isnt any longer part of that program...one the MFC initiated with the Vixens, Tigers, Racing Club. Anybody know what happened?
  16. So you won't be disappointed if Jack Watts ends up no good then? And speaking of "burdening the player with expectation" - have a look how much hype there has been from MFC supporters about Watts just cos he was pick 1. Sorry but supporters expectations do correlate with the position a player was taken in the draft.
  17. I think it is relevant. If you buy a $20 pen you expect it to work properly for a long time. If you spend 50c on a biro you don't care if it dries up and you have to buy a new one. To me the same applies to footy - the greater the cost of a player, the higher the return I expect. So as a first round draft selection, my expectations of Dunn are significantly higher than they are of someone whose 'inexpensive' later in the draft.
  18. 4.57am...probably the time our playing list have to wake up to get to Cranbourne for those 8am training sessions!!!!!! Nah, a funny hoax. Wonder who'll pop up tomorrow??
  19. That's not a camp, that's just four normal training sessions at Casey Fields!!! Perhaps with a bit of community stuff thrown in - as per the clubs contract with the City of Casey! I'd have liked to see them go to Wonthaggi, Phillip Island, Leongatha...areas that are within 30-60mins of Cranbourne and promote the club to them.
  20. Sylvia's always looked a million bucks...surely it's whats between the ears thats held him back as much as niggling injuries. And we often get burnt with those out of contract players, they have a great year, we get sucked into paying them more than they deserve or getting a year longer than they deserve. Perhaps one day we'll get shrewd and when someone has a good year we'll then trade them out for a higher currency than they are worth!
  21. Good work guys. Updates and photos always appreciated! Especially now its out at Casey - a bit of a hike for some.
  22. I read very few threads on here anymore, too few people know the meaning of the word "concise" and the phrase "get to the point". But some people seem to have all day to wade through the rubble and type away, if people want to talk politics let them. What fan forum isn't full of petty arguing? Heck, what sporting organisation isn't full of politics and in fighting? I respect the desire to 'keep the board clean' and perhaps the personal stuff would best be done via private message. But does deleting stuff or locking threads really solve all the problems? As for the people who find stuff offensive and complain, they're like the do gooders who write into the Green Guide and sook about Gordon Ramsay saying "F***" all the time and want his show axed. There is a simple solution - don't watch it!!!! Or is this case - just ignore the thread!!!
  23. I didn't read the previous thread, but removing threads which are critical of the club essentially just sweeps the issues under the carpet. Which has been a problem with the club for a long time. A sense of mediocrity and this boys club where we'll pat each other on the back for what everybody else would consider as underachieving. While I do agree with the principle that everyone needs to be united during tough times - of which the MFC's is now - I do think that people have the right to question the way things are being done and whether Stynes and Schwab's honeymoon period is over or not.
