  1. Apology accepted. However, the reality is the next couple of weeks are probably the best time to play Jack because he wont have the demands of school and I assume he'll be able to spend more time at the footy club. He was at Brighton Grammar on Friday, watching his school team play in the afternoon having kick to kick with his mates on the ground at half time - like five hours before he was playing an AFL game. That's questionable management in itself, but I think we need to be aware how difficult it is to balance Year 12 and AFL footy and perhaps play him the next three weeks and then cotton wool - VCE study and Casey where his footy is still intense, but more "fun".
  2. Carlton's home ground Princes Park. If you go by train/tram and are one of the first 100 to present a Metcard you get in for free.
  3. 14 from 44 at about 30% winning rate is considerably better than Bailey who could potentially be on 4 from 44 at the end of this season. And Hawthorn went from bottom to top in the space of four years didnt they? Bailey doesnt get another "rebuilding year" in 2010 IMO. Exactly. At the end of the day any [censored] can do the dirty work - all that involves is waiving goodbye to a few players and turning a list over. Implimenting a game plan and a structure is more challenging and the truer test of Bailey's ability and footy brain. If at the end of 2010 we can't see Bailey having any success in that area then it'll be time to say goodbye. And we're talking about Melbourne, not Richmond. But I bet the Tigers fans demand and expect a lot more quick success than what some mediocre twats like you are content with.
  4. That's clutching at straws. Bailey has won 4 from 33 - a 12% winning strike rate. In Wallace's four years at Richmond prior to this season his winning strike rate at Richmond was 40.25%. Doing the maths and including this year his strike rate at Richmond finished on 37.4%. Peter Rohde's Western Bulldogs coaching record was 45 games for 9 wins - a winning rate of 20%. And that was bad enough to get him sacked. At the end of this season Bailey will have coached 44 games at the MFC and quite possibly he'll only have six or seven wins beside his name. God help him if the club doesnt win another game and he sits on 4 from 44 at the end of the year. That'd be 9% and I dare say the worst coaching strike rate of anybody in the modern era.
  5. Typical. Amateurish footy club administration. You start to wonder whether anybody in there gives a stuff about their job? Even a map on the scoreboard would've been useful.
  6. Why not? He's coached at AFL level for 10 years, he was an player at a very good club in a successful era and is coaching Port Melbourne brilliantly in the VFL. I'd rather him than Dean Who.
  7. I'm not convinced Bailey's up to it and I think the club made a mistake appointing a nobody rather than an experienced senior coach or a fresh face who actually could play the game well at the highest level. However, he's 33 games into a 66 game contract. Today marked the half way point of his deal. If in 12 months time - after the young guys have another season under their belts - the club still put out performances like that then I suspect the only option will be to dispense of him at the end of 2010 and find someone else. But he's got another 18 months, really 2010 is when the club need to judge what he's done this year and last.
  8. And then probably deferred for another month, then another month, then another month. The Rectangular stadium will be finished soon, let's tell the Casey Council to [censored] off, we dont need to be pouring heaps of money into the Casey Fields as a base.
  9. Blame the AFL for the SA and WA stuff up. They were so paranoid about getting good coverage for QLD and NSW that they stuffed up when it came to looking after SA and WA residents. If the Lions game is on Fox 1 and Ten in QLD, then they get the other game on Fox Sports +. Doesnt happen for anyone else!
  10. Don't read much into what 3AWful have to say.
  11. That's fair enough. The message then for those dopey supporters who sook cos the club aren't on free to air...if the club are playing footy that people dont want to watch, simple fact is we'll be playing on Sundays at 1pm and 4.40pm. Can you imagine if Channel 7 showed that game on Sunday, it would've been a ratings disaster! At least Fox dont have to worry as much.
  12. This guy has to play next week, give the team some spark up forward.
  13. Interesting comment on Footy Classified last night wasn't it? Shame Garry wasn't actually at the MCG for a start, but I thought that was an unusual thing for him to say. He's a mate of Jimmy's and Chris Connolly's, you'd hope he's doing a bit behind the scenes yet it wasn't a great advertisement for the footy club or indeed for sticking with the club when they are down. Reading too much into it?
  14. I thought the booing pretty much reflected that we've got our fair share of dills who barrack for this footy club too. Wasn't necessary. Probably a sad reflection that booing Nathan Bock was the highlight of some people's night. Pity booing Bock and the umpires was about all that came out of some people's mouths - there certainly wasn't a lot to cheer about.
  15. Good story that. I think every footy club in the AFL and actually a lot of VFL, TAC Cup and even local footy clubs are now going to Anzac Day services which is fantastic. Perhaps beyond expectations of 10 years ago where people thought as the Diggers' passed away the Anzac Day story would pass on as well. But bucking that trend we've seen as the Diggers' pass away the spirit of Anzac Day keeps growing. An Anzac Day game would be nice wouldn't it...four of them this year but the Dees miss out. Perhaps next year when Anzac Day is on a Sunday, or even the Monday which will be a public holiday in Victoria in 2010. Maybe the club should get in and request that one now!
  16. Noticed tonight on the news Nathan Jones father being interviewed wearing a Demons polo shirt. Problem was the polo was about two years old, and had Asics and Primus logos on it. Not a great look, surely the club can give him a polo shirt with our current sponsors logos on it if he does any more media appearances!!!! Can you imagine a club like Collingwood or Essendon allowing a players parent to appear on the telly in old club apparel. It wouldnt happen. And we wouldnt see Joffa without the latest Collingwood gear on would we? I know Jones' father probably just did the interview, autonomous from the footy club but it's the small things that make a footy club look professional. I reckon someone at the club would've been dirty when they saw it. You dont give ex sponsors a free kick. Ever. I bet Nathan is given a new polo to take home for Dad tomorrow.
  17. I think there is a significant point worth raising. In the past two years the club has drafted 6 "Top 21" draft picks (Morton, Maric, Grimes, Watts, Blease and Strauss). Only one of them played today. There's still a core group of our future not yet in the side. The forward line is messy, the ball movement forward is often wide and slow. Nobody seems capable of cutting through the opposition with a quick switch of play (ala what Geelong did to Hawthorn a few times on Friday night), to get through the congestion we handball, and handball and handball. Eventually someone stuffs it up. There was definate improvement from last year out there today, Collingwood next week will be a good test but then Port and Richmond will give us a good guide as to where things are at.
  18. Ah ok then. Well not that I should be a judge of this sort of thing but IMO CJ is miles ahead of Wheters in the looks department. But really who cares if he's in it or not, its a competition for 50 tryhard males to get the most popular vote. Waste of time IMO.
  19. You went to the fun park and didn't have fun? Not even a bit of fairy floss, the smell of hot dogs, daggy fun park music and the sounds of screaming people on the ghost train made could get you into the spirit of it?
