  1. Most overrated coach in the comp. Is lucky half the games they play are on an auskick sized field
  2. With delistings and retirements we'll lose a fair bit off the cap. Losing Lewis and Garlett's contracts will help as well as what i'm sure will be further delistings + trades. Doubt we'd even be right at that cap at the moment and will probably only face those issues over the next 2-3 years when more of our "better" players come out of contract and start demanding more.
  3. Worst caller by a mile. Hard to even fathom that considering they employ Cameron Ling
  4. From the few Giants games I’ve seen he’s lined up around half-back and works fairly hard up between each 50, but seems a pretty versatile player who can fit anywhere. Is a decent kick of the footy only knock for me is that he doesnt seem that quick IMO Could see him in a variety of roles as either a link up wingman due to his height and running capcity, or that taller forward working up the ground like Tom Lynch from the crows. Is in a similair sort of mould to AVB with some extra height about him minus the 4-6 week misson curse.
  5. 2nd round pick anyone? Playing pretty well tonight
  6. Never said Viney is a great kick either, and completely agree that disposal efficiency isnt the be and end all of stats, just wanted to show theyre just as bad as each other in an area which has been our weakness all year. Wines for me falls into that can hit a 25m target or just blazes clearing balls into turnovers kind of player with little else except immense in-and-under extraction skills - of which we have an abundance of. Its an interesting hypothetical to be sure, but one that doesnt make much sense given our position IMO
  7. Should under no circumstances be leaving the forward arc next year
  8. On raw stats - kicks, marks, disposals, Wines is an upgrade on Viney and has proven (until this year) to be more durable. However, Wines has worse disposal efficiency - going at 65% and turns the ball over more. Whats more is that Port would be thinking Wines is way more valuable. Former no. 7 pick, co-captain of the club as a straight swap for a downgrade. Sure you could swap picks to even that up. But as I’ve said earlier we shouldnt be selling the farm and taking up our focus for another or replacement slow inside mid with poor disposals
  9. Gawn tapping to all those players that get sucked into the contest like bees to a honey pot. Would have the worst inside-outside balance in the comp by a mile second year in a row. Our stoppage footage from this year was nothing short of embarrasing. Some of the quality midfields have those Oliver, Viney Wines types, but balanced with class players who can compete contested balls when needed, but have the smarts to hang back when fequired. Think Josh Kelly, Scott Pendlebury, Andrew Gaff, Dusty etc. Stoppage balance is my main problem with this team at the moment and adding Wines at that price does nothing to rectify this.
  10. The whole point of working the trade board is to see who fits into the team. Just because theyre available doesnt mean you take them. Ollie Wines is just that. Grabbing another slow inside mid with terrible disposal is literally the last thing we need right now.
  11. IF we’re believing in anything Damian Barrett spews out... THEN we’ve all completely and utterly lost hope
  12. No, no and no. Still don't think Trac has fully reached his potential and was one of the big improvers for me this year. Unlike most can hit a target and his goal kicking is much better after his struggles earlier in the season. I think he'll be much better for an uninterrupted preseason and some greater fitness work under Burgess. And ss much as I like Smith and would love to get him into the club, he's almost if not already 30, compared to Trac who is 23 and still yet to crack 100 games. Even still, we'd be flipping a former no. 2 pick and this years pick 3 into 11, 12, 14 and a 30 year old player. Big yes to Smith, but at that price thats rubbish.
  13. Couldnt agree more. If we could develop him into more of a defensive/rebounding winger then I’d be all for it. Plenty of other problems across the park - namely goal kicking small forwards.
  14. Absolutely not. I was really impressed by the second half of his season to be honest - was on a roll until that concussion against the Eagles. Those knocking his defending and aggression need only look not too far back to see how much of a competitor he is - can’t say the same for many on our list. Has never been the greatest kick and I doubt thats going to improve but theres plenty out there who absolutely butcher it (Adam Treloar) My only knock on him right now is his speed. Used to be a lot faster of a mover so reckon he might need to shave down a few kegs to get some of that back. And besides the point - what would we get for him? Second round at most. Anyone thinking a club would pay a 1st for him is having a laugh and if you think he’s worth that much then why sell him?
  15. Call me a blind optimist but I think without the burden of leadership next year Jonesy will be back into some decent form. If the club really believes the time is now for us to challenge in finals and ultimately the premiership (which they have from recent trading etc.), then I completely agree with re-signing Jones. Will have to work his [censored] off for his spot like Lewis did, but I reckon there’s a spot for him somewhere in the forward line. Is a pretty decent kick at goal and wont be having to run as far in a midfielders role. It’s been difficult watching him this year and I’ve knocked him pretty hard for his lack of leadership as well, but the man is a true champion and always says it like it is. Deserves to make all the success in the world and I’m happy that we’ve backed him in for that opportunity.
  16. Fair point, really depends where the club thinks its truely at in terms of contending again.
  17. Jay Clark reporting that Isaac Smith is still up for grabs. Probably can’t add much more to this thread, but can’t believe we’re not having a serious look at him. I get the knock on his age, but he just oozes class and was last year a potential captain of the club. Just what we need - good kick, still quick, leadership and wont be coming at a premium price.
  18. Never got more than 22 touches in a game and not exactly sure where he fits into our lineup. Half back? Wing? Considering how high he went in the draft I doubt Gold Coast would give him up for less than pick 20ish + bit like KK comes with some injury concerns. If the price was right, sure I'd take a punt on him. However he shouldnt be our priority right now.
  19. I'd rather play Oscar McDonald forward...jeez how desperate are we???
  20. Fritsch's only instructions for next year should be to never leave the forward 50. 100% agree with the rest. Amon at the least provides better depth than JKH, Baker or Stretch plus cover if we can't get a better winger through trade/draft or KK or Vanders up and running.
  21. 100% agree. Need a genuine match winning small forward who can bob up and kick more than just a few snags a game. 40+ a year type should be the aim which we arent going to get through the draft. Also needs to apply decent pressure in the forward half unlike Garlett who picked and chose his moments. Club should hopefully be asking around about one of those types. Our “Small Forwards”: Hunt - 21 2019 Hannan - 22 in 2017 and 2018 One of these 2 would be 1 of our 2 smaller forwards but neither really has that ground level prowess and are more lead up mark type players. Purely on form alone I’d be going with Hunt as part of the best 22 Inexpensive but on the market (at least according to the media pundits) Dan Butler in 2017 had 30 goals playing 23 games Sam Gray the last 2 years has had 20 goals but 28 in 2017 Lewis Taylor is around the 18-20 goal mark but has reached his peak - definite pass Shai Bolton - still a bit unproven but looks a terrific pressure player and could be a 20-30 goal a year player All would cost next to nothing (albeit for good reason) but I’d say Butler is probably the pick of the bunch and I doubt he would warrant more than a 3rd rounder - has proven to kick goals amongst that Richmond small forward pack of Rioli, Bolton, Castagna, Higgins etc. Bigger Fish who could be on the move: Tom Papley - have seen him linked with Carlton and the Roos and both would be willing to pay more for him but for the sake of it had 24 last year and 37 this year McDonald Tipungwuti - don’t see him leaving the Dons in all honesty and is attracting interest from the Dogs who again would have way more money to pay him but is around that 30+ goal a year mark. Others: Jack Petrucelle - have heard no mention of him leaving but was heavily linked to us during his draft year and would be just what we need Ben Long - saw his name come up at some point this year linked to us but I think he may have received a contract extension? Both would be in that 25-30 range now but could be worth the look
