  1. The vision was appalling. Lynch is an absolute dog. They also had footage that other incident when he casually whacked a player that was prostrate on the ground in the back of the head, without even blinking.

Deliberate acts felling a defender during a centre bounce puts the forwards in a huge advantage if they win a centre clearance. Hate to be clichéd, but it is far outside the spirit of the game.

Thanks everyone for those thoughtful questions! The full episode is here: https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/episode-10-deeluded-turns-100-mfc-president-kate-roffey/id1219118375?i=1000522106266

We covered some interesting ground, including our long-awaited new home base, the soft cap's impact, Simon Goodwin's contract, the future of the AFL-W competition, and Glen Bartlett's departure. Hope you enjoy it!

    Great interview Kiran and Nita.

For those who haven't heard it yet, I was moved by a story Kate Roffey related where Laurie (I think) had copped an injury, and given that she recalled Trac had a knee reco and had thus related through his first year, she suggested that he seek him out for a chat - he responded that Trac had already dropped around to visit him. That just speaks volumes on where we are as a club - culture, maturity, the love they have for each other - and Trac's personal qualities. Brilliant stuff.

Top of the ladder joy: as long as you keep winning at least one team falls further behind you in every other game!

Example: If Port beat the Dogs, we go two games clear on top of the ladder.  But if the Dogs beat Port we go THREE games clear for securing a top-2 spot.

When you're winning, everything is a win.

I love that all the club and players have to think about is winning and the rest will take care of itself.

Good point re. the Dogs over Port scenario. It's such an unfamiliar feeling as a (1980s onward) Melbourne supporter, this whole top-of-the-ladder caper!

It's pretty amazing how many Melbourne podcasts there are. There's a couple of other general AFL podcasts I listen to as well, Lace Out which is hosted by a Melbourne supporter (and his co-host a Port supporter) and Lystics AFL Podcast hosted by a Melbourne supporter and an ex-Collingwood now Freo supporter.

The Bulldogs don't have any podcast as far as I can tell although apparently the comedian who used to do their banners is working on one - he has a podcast with Lehmo called They Came To Play.

Another one I listen to is Junktime which is a comedy footy podcast which comes with an *extreme language warning*. Funny guys though they've done writing for a couple of different AFL comedy shows, I think one of them currently works on The Front Bar.

Another great podcast is the Kick to Kick podcast which is an AFL history podcast hosted by an Essendon supporter and up to three Melbourne supporters (they don't always appear on each episode but usually at least 2 of the 3). They go through each AFL season an episode at a time and are currently up to 1959 so a good time to jump in

Thanks, I'll have to check some of those out!  The Lystics podcast I have listened to - really insightful deep dives on the state of each club's list and draft prospects, etc.

This list doesn’t include 1956 when we won the first 13 games of the season and won the flag.

...because the list only shows streaks by teams that did not go on to win the flag that year.

Thanks gs, yeah just catching up on the post game thread where it’s mentioned.
I get the principles around clash uniforms, but everyone (except Buddy) wears their socks down! And Sydney already have hooped socks compared to our solid red.
    We’re the Redlegs, dammit!

Yeah, I do miss the long red socks. It was a striking part of the uniform. And frankly if our home game I'd rather see them forced into wearing white socks or something against our red ones, but perhaps the clubs have come to this agreement mutually for both home & away.

Just watching the replay of last night’s game and saw we were wearing red and blue striped socks.
I’ve never noticed this in my 30+ years of supporting the Dees - I thought we were the Redlegs?!
If anyone can can advise of any historical wearing of striped socks and why we wore them last night, that’d be fab.

There was chat about this in the gameday thread I think. Seems it may be to disambiguate our players legs from theirs - e.g. whose leg did an out of bounds on the full come off, etc.

There was a piece very early last week somewhere on social media that Jack had gone in for scans on his foot. It would seem that the club managed to keep the story under wraps for almost the whole week. Not sure if there’s value in doing this.

If that were the case I'm surprised they didn't select sparrow as emergency, who I would have thought was a more like for like alternate than Baker.
