I have Billings on the ball and Kynan on the wing because Billings is more experienced Brown needs to build up before I put him on the ball. I could have put Sestan on the ball and Kynan or Billings on a flank but decided against it.

In the VFL that’s  where experience is gained. What a ridiculous reason. The more Kynan gets of playing on the ball the better he will get and be ready for AFL.

Crazy selection and I know VFL can make some moves but it’s there for discovering senior AFL players fgs.

Kynan is unlucky and really deserves an opportunity as he has done well considering byes and lack of opportunities. Need to fast track him like Windsor.

If Mathew Nicholls or Nathan Williamson are umpiring I won't go.

Shocking umpires who hate Melbourne and make the game unbearable.

Is any one expected yo believe you as a real supporter after this [censored].

I’ve heard some stupid reasons and this is one of the most.

Additional: It looked like they were structuring for and executing fast ball movement through the corridors direcrly off half-back, and/or from lateral spread/switches.

Moniz-Wakefield was at training but not participating, had a different coloured top on as compared to the rest of the MFC Casey players.

How  often does AMW get injured ?

Really he gets in trouble and can’t put games together.

Hopefully some games in a row soon gives him senior chance.

    B: Freeman, Tomlinson, Adams

    HB: Connelly, Turner, Moniz-Wakefield

    C: Steele, Laurie, K. Brown

    HF: Sestan, Schache, McAdam

    F: Jefferson, B. Brown, Fullerton

    FOLL: Verrall, White, Billings

IC: Farris-White, Moodie, Edwards, Cross, Shipp

I have Pickett, Hunter and Hore in the seniors replacing B. Brown, Billings and Salem

Why Billings on the ball and Kynan on the wing. If either sectioning the AFL they would ideally be in the positions I have suggested.

Outfield work has been interesting even underwhelming at times and Kynan looks as good a mid under the three champs plus Sparrow and the cameo kids Kossie Riv and also Salem  when fit.

I bet when he gets his chance he won’t give it up without an almighty fight.

But that’s the trick how does he get his chance?

Excited at the possibility of McAdam playing. Listed last week as 1-2 weeks. With this being a Wednesday game, you would think we hold off. Next VFL after that is May 5th so another 11 days for him to get ready.

Couple of weeks later and he could get up for the trip to Perth...

If he’s passed fit he plays Wed after so long why delay him now?

    Are you a lawyer?

Relating to another human being is a totally different comparison from a Club.

As for others re the new binary that’s nothing to do with we or they as part of a group.

You obviously are part of a group if you call yourselves a THEY  it a Dees supporter is a WE. It doesn’t matter about sub groups.

MFC has differing sub groups ie Board Coterie Football Dept
Members fans but we are all supporters. The team is not a they like we   are not a they as we belong to the MFC all of us.

I am not a lawyer nor a wordsmith just a proud Demon supporter of 66 years that is part of our club and involved so a WE fits perfectly.

But if you don’t like my  opinion and prefer to be a THEY so be it.

BTW We are all Australians who are nationalised THEY are NOT  who ain’t.
Pretty simple isn’t it You either belong or you don’t.

Try to think about it Am I  a Demon supporter ? YES then I am a WE That’s the  bonding not whether I am. Cotorie Army or member or fan.

The THEY are other  teams club  members or AFL staff or filth trajics. NOT the Melb team who might miss a certain player if he is injured.

OUR team will miss him. WE will miss  him.

Some of  you will get it but others will be stubborn and try an alternative view that does not fit the we or they terminology or category.

M9 has got wrong just like his opinion on Harry,

since his 6 goal haul Petts has played only THIS season, and kicked one goal in 4 games.

He has limped other previous cameos etc and mulled the figures.

its his confidence that shot and the naysayers are harsh he needs a real good game to hit form

Hoping this week vs Tigs is the breakout game and he is NOT NOT trying. It’s called confidence!!!

    Go Harry !!

Limped means Lumped !! Sorry .

old dee - absolutely no, zero, null comparison between JVR and Weed at any stage in their careers.  JVR has been super competitive since day 1

58er.   Agree almost totally with your summation though I don’t know where you got the idea of him doing cameos in defence or as a lock down.  I guess he could do it but don't see why he should.

Because he played in defence in WA In Junior rep footy. In fact was in theWA U18 rep side playing fullback in the game vs SA before our GF win and was moved forward in the last quarter and kicked a winning goal. Happy Mon Thought all Dees fans know of his previous history in WA. ???  Played defence rather than forward for a season.

You got it wrong. Just admit it.

You said he was too short for KPF which I outlined he's the same height as Curnow.

You're now trying to justify your argument by going completely off track.

    Just own it.

I am not saying Jacob van Rooyen will kick 78 goals in a season but mark my words there is one area he is in front is his highly competitive nature. And he is missing marks now that he will take in 1or 2 years time.

Jacob will  be as useful a player for us as Charlie is for Carlton during his career. His rucking role is under estimated and will improve his footy no doubt more he gets trusted. And he can go to defence as well for a cameo or lock down. You have not said much good about JVR but his best  oozes a very high upside once he gains confidence and more form.

There's a bit to like there with Laurie hopefully building confidence that he's too good for this level.

Great to hear that Verrall, Brown, Sestan, Fullarton and Turner all had good games. There's a good spread of roles there.

I'm hopeful for AMW too and I think it's good they are trying him at HB, I think there's more of a logjam of contenders up forward and we could do with some creativity in the backline.

We need one of Adams or Jefferson to make it.

Agree good prospects and if half make it we will have done extremely well. Nearly all could be brilliant but that’s being greedy!!

Really? It’s never been a fully ticketed game in the 8 years we’ve had it.

Last year was 83.9k and the general public sales were worse than they are this year. It’s the MCC that is looking like a disaster considering it’s a category 1 game.

Will still be around the 70k mark which is what queens birthday always was.

If some members like DC can’t go to a home replacement game because she can’t sit in her cosy reserved seat how is she ( or likeminded members) likely to rough it with the Tiger types in GA.

With great respect it’s more likely that our mob are missing in action than worrying about 10/15, 000 Tigs who may have dropped off.

Lack of height plays against him, not a ruckman or a key forward.

I would like to see him up the ground, half forward type.

Lack of height is not a problem as he has a great jump if he used it more by being in front.

He is very competitive and determined and would be lost trying to play a half forward type of role as pace would be a major problem keeping up with pacier players.

Also he could/can play as a defender if he fails as a forward as a third or second defender KP or in the back pocket from game to game.

If he is developed further he is a prospect for 200 plus games as a versatile player on our list.

Agree RPFC. I believe JVR’s potential as a MFC player is being enhanced by his 2nd ruck situation and enables him to get into the game and learn about AFL footy not just a KP which he will undoubtedly succeed in being for us.

I hope you are right DS. It is early days I don't see it at present.

Come on OD you have been largely positive recently but this comment shows no common sense.

Rooyie is still developing and within games and seasons he as a developing player may frustrate.

Yes his marking hadn’t been great getting hands to ball but his very athleticism plus competitiveness and IMO our clearly second best ruck relief for Maxy plays a significant role in our team.

If he chose to not sign this deal and do a  Jacko our credibility would be an all time LOW at keeping young interstate stars. He is only 21 and plays with greater maturity than many others for his age. 30 games in 90% of Demons fans can see a fantastic career ahead and in one of the hardest key positions in the game biz. FF FP or CHF.

And if he doesn’t play in any of these roles in our next Flag I’ll bet he will at CHB or FB in any case.

Look at our recent recruiting and all our mediums have usually beaten our young key talls to regular games. Plenty still knocked Trac ( and wanted to clear him after season2019) before his breakout season in 2020 and 100 games on he wins games for us as a true superstar of the game and brings huge credit off the field as well to our Club.

Think of Tom Hawkins who took 2/3 seasons to develop and the other talls on our list that are recruited for a KP spot forward or back or ruck. Jed Adams, Mark Jefferson, Will Verrall Max Gawn none were or are instant consistent successes.

Tom Hawkins also resonates the same.

Players like the above show glimpses of class and style that gives them the best chances of succeeding in this crazy game of AFL.

You can’t see Rooy’s performances developing at this stage because you are frustrated with the glimpses of his amazing potential to be a David Schwarz or Neiter or Stephie May and he is not there fast enough.

Patience is one virtue many.D/Lers don’t have and thank goodness we don’t pick or manage our players. Leave it to the experts and let’s revel they are monitoring our future stars with appropriate regard to their and our future.

Just as our 2021 Glad came outbid the blue the same thing happens when a young player with potential also does succeed. Just ask Judd McVee and Caleb Windsor.

Hang in there the ride gets better every 30 games believe.

Go watch the ‘21 prelim - Smith 4 goals including clutch match winner -  Salem can kick but never uses it to hurt opposition -  consistently hits 15-20m targets - often lateral -  and doesn’t get on the park enough and will have ongoing thyroid management issues - ship him out while he’s  some value.

You have conveniently forgotten the wonderful games Christian has played and been significant in the success of our team.

Our 2021 Premiership was set up by Salo’s  magnificent first quarter and indeed his whole game. That’s what makes a star on the biggest stage and shows too many people focus on the negatives of players rather than the positives.

In very rare circumstances the player sometimes requests a trade and the Club may benefit however to openly move a highly skilled and valued match winner plus great Clubman does not send a great message to other players wanting to join your Club.

Christian is often tied up with helping nurture and develop one of our up and coming stars on the side in his own time with no recognition generally until that player makes our team or wins a Rising Star nomination.

Lets saviour the great and good games Salo gives us as much as his high quality Club sprit and contributions he makes overall instead of narrowing in on his unfortunate injuries and style of play in setting up team plays where many in the game waste their talent with erratic disposal.

Rubbish take, you're talking about general losses that happen to every team every season. " Heading for a 10 goal loss and escaped it" exactly, we don't get pumped when most teams would in those situations. We were severely cooked against Brisbane you can just see it. That wasn't cracks showing that was pure fatigue. The last we scored 5 cause Brisbane slowed down a bit. Horrible take.

Agree any fan could see we were cooked from go to 3/4 time. Brisbane they often do slowed down and again paid the notice.

The only thing I was upset about was that Goody really didn’t change things halfway through the second quarter. If he had rung some moves you never know after last years come from behind win and last quarter recovery in the lights off  match.

There is no doubt the Lions don’t always play a game out and are gettable if challenged further out than the last quarter.

Keep that in the memory bank Dees.

I find it absurd that Geelong are allowed to train at GMHBA. Does anyone know which of the interstate teams train at their home ground?

All of them I presume. Not every day but maybe once per week.
Cats at least twice per week probably.

Please don’t go and say it’s part of the reason for a loss. That’s why most teams try and get their training ground the same dimensions. Now that is maybe a disadvantage.

Lots of unfair potting of our Fwds, umpires and young defenders  going on in here.

The team across the board looked very flat, however we lost this game due to the worst midfield performance we have dished up since at least the start of the Goodwin era. Our big three all had shockingly bad games and should cop the majority of the blame.

They were not alone of course but Oliver, Trac, Viney and Gawn are our engine, without them at least running at 80% the rest of team has no chance of fulfilling there own roles. We can carry a sub par game from 1 of them here and there, perhaps even a  so-so performance from 2 of them, but when all three dish up what they did last night we would be lucky to beat any team.

I know Fantasy scores are not always the best judge of a player impact but these stats are damning:

Petrraca had 59 SC points, lowest since 2018. For context last year he averaged 119 per game.

Oliver has had 62 and 65 Points the past 2 weeks, both games ranked in his worst 4 games since his debut year. Averaged 121 last year and 127 in 2022. Cleary hampered and should not be playing.

Jack somehow managed to get 75 but most of his score came when the game was already lost and was still 30sih points below his season average.

These 3 are champions of our club and I am sure they will bounce back. However, for all three to have poor games to this level suggests to me that this wasn't just Brisbane being good.

My guess is the team was cooked from the get go and the bye could not have come at a better time for us.

The Richmond game will show us a hell of a lot.

Most IMO centred around our drained presence due to the Adelaide games.

4 games in 19 days and 3 in 13 did affect the result although the Lions did play well and we were unlucky they hit form last week vs North.
