  1. A great day to be in Melbourne, the sun is warm, the breeze is cool, the grass is green and the footballers are out and about. TBH those who have already reported have covered it well but... Number of observers down from last week, probably because the schools are totally back, and no obvious media. The difference between Clarrie this week and last week was that he was moving quicker, start off with a fast jog then sprint. Did some kicking with Fullarton and another. Ended up with Salo running the boundary. BBB - running the boundary, look great, then not so as he tired. Moving well clearly building a fitness base. Fullarton - moving well for someone who had a serious hammy; running freely around the boundary and had a kick with Clarry Mcadam - doing my type of training, walking the boundary then finished up running the boundary with Reece Conca TMc and Disco - had an interesting drill whereby you threw the ball at the other as hard as possible from a couple of metres. They seemed to enjoy it especially when they scored a hit. Melky - on the bike, which I assumed was loaded, as he did like 10 sec bursts. And one for the ladies - shirt off. Petty - not so happy. With a foot injury, everyone comes up and stares at your foot, even if you are wearing a boot. What do they expect to see? But then even I was doing it. AMW - relentless running on the boundary. Match sim - 30 + in it . Schache up forward. Windsor to play round 1 with that talent. Kynan plays with intensity. Sparrow looked slim next to Trac. One of the coaches awarded Lever a free kick - thats blown his quota for the year. Go Dees
  2. McEvoy was picl 9 but Cox was a rookie (wow). Toby is an interesting one, passed over in his draft year but went pick 35 the year after to the the Sydney Sods.....
  3. For me it is a short train ride to training. It feels like you have enough time to eat a Burger with the Lot whilst waiting for the Punt Rd lights to change. Clarrie!!!! - lifted my spirits; still has that same boyish grin and his preferred method of greeting seems to be a wrestle. Light duties, lots of running, some dodging and don't quote me but has magnificent hips. Couldnt lay a tackle on him in a phone box. Had more sunscreen on than the combined U9s cricket team. Looked in excellent spirits. Lots of media in attendance Chin and Spargs train like they are competing for the same spot. Salo Hore and McAdam runing some laps. I dont think Salo would raise a puff blowing out the candles on a birthday cake. McAdam fitness work in progress. BBB made an appearance on the boundary line, handballing. What a head of hair - to think mine started to clog the vacuum cleaner from 15.... TMcs hair coming back to normal. Petty - light duties, feeding handballs into a drill May doesnt tackle lightly No matter where I stand on the fence it always seem to be happening on the other side....grass is always greener..... Go Dees
  4. I went down to training and even with old man eyes JVR was a standout from over 300m away. Has much playful competitive energy too. A reasonable crowd there to watch, even a kid in a Pies jumper; certainly a change from 10 years ago when there wasnt many more than a fella in a rain coat standing next to a tree. As I walked the boundary I heard some very familiar DL voices so I propped there for awhile and listened to the chat. Just a few of my observations; Bowey forward having shots on goal; Lever giving an instructional drill whereby you start with your back to the play then turn quickly to get the ball; Jefferson lying on the ground with someone on top and trying to get up; Salo just jogging forever with no sweat; Melky looks great. And they did this drill where you shake your hands in the air and run forward as if wearing flippers. Looked damn silly. Saw Richo and Perty as well. Go Dees
  5. Hi Macca, Just remember that the MRC dont own Caulfield, it is crown land managed by a Trust. MRC pays a nominal rent. Perhaps the MRC would welcome us if we used some of their facilities for events or meetings.
  6. Not sure how you can be locked out of multiple use public parkland -Caulfield
  7. was in North Point 2 weeks ago, and dint know
  8. 3 say it is behind the paywall so could someone please describe the article 11 chastised for calling it lite bowls 3 state that it is an indictment of the last 10 boards that we are still using bulbs 2 call for the sacking of football department saying we should never have picked L Bulbs in the first 1 mentions.... and the use of.....and talks about the private live of....and the whole flamming thread disappears (what happened)
  9. At that listed height and weight where would you play him?
  10. Should we draft the family dog?
  11. Could i jst point out the following : 1. The MRC dont own Caulfield, they lease the facilities from the Trust at a low amount. 2. We are not building a social club nor a practice match or match facility but an elite training and admin facility under the one 'roof'. 3. In the words of Roffey 'we received funding...' - does anyone know from whom? 4. ah bugger I have forgotten 5. My opinoins are not biased by the fact that I live within a 10 minute walk, not at all
  12. Didnt their father run a boxing gym, which i always thought was the reason Ted and John could handle themselves so well.
  13. Um too much information. The mind boggles
  14. My maternal grandmother followed Carlton but when her son (my uncle) started playing district cricket for the MCC the family moved over to the demons. My father followed Prahran and was happy to swap to the Dees in the glory days. When that ended he was the first to stop going, for which my mum never forgave.
  15. Having looked at the plans and artists impressions the redevelopment of the racecourse includes residential housing, shops, cafes, sporting facilities, playing grounds, bbq etc. Thats where the $570 mill comes from and I was suggesting if someone put that money up the project as a whole the project would kick off. I cannot see the MFC facilities going ahead in isolation or standalone or if thy did it would be eg Stage 1. There are many stakeholders all anxious to kick in as little as possible.
  16. I understand your frustration but to kick it off do you have a spare $570 mill lying around? The redvelopment of the race course is a massive project involving The racecourse Trust, MRC, Glen Eira Council, State Govt (and probs the Feds), Environment Groups (save the snakes) Heritage Groups (save the horse pool) probs my mate Angus (wheres the bar) - more stakeholders than the botanical gardens. And the MFC will have to buy in big time to get any favored treatement. Dont hold your breath.
  17. According to the MRC website, horse training finished at caulfield in late 2021. Certainly the stables on Neerim/Queen are empty as it was used by the Railways for gate removal works and the other trainer has moved to Cranbourne. I dont know if horses are still stabled their for other purposes. I think on average there is a race meeting about once a fortnight, typically on a Saturday, when the demons could often be elsewhere. There are other events held there but they typically use the facilities associated with the grandstands. I am assuming that the MFC admin/home/gym facilities will be built on the Booran Rd side. I think the site has alot of merit. (Nothing to do with me living a 10 minute walk away)
  18. Thanks. Have you seen any financial statements from the Red and Blue Foundation? I think for Foundations you have to ask for them, rather than statements being published online; but I could be wrong, I really don't know...
  19. We do have the Red and Blue Foundation you know. It is a tad above tin rattling. However not sure how this feeds into the MFC financials, nor for that matter whether the Foundation is holding a 'war chest'.
