  1. Oh, the Brissy supporters around me were feral when the siren went. So one eyed, I cannot believe they don't love good footy.
  2. What H&A dreams are made of. Way to take the heat off us and put it squarely on Brisvegas. Vineys steal and Melky's finish. Dominated the first 15 and the last 15 minutes.
  3. Had a quick look on the Web. Romance novel, new experiences and the life of the rich and famous, dealing with serious life issues like illness, death, loss, family crises, and ... Not too far from the MFC experience. Go Dees
  4. Do they end well for the good guys?
  5. The wind has dropped off as the cloud cover cleared and night begins to fall. Still the occasional gust. Will be a cold night, though.
  6. A change in a pressure system looks like it will pass over Melbourne soon. I can see some blue sky. The gusty winds may abate.
  7. I don't want a slow start. Gee them up, Mark and Co. After that video posted by WCW, in Viney I trust, big time. Things I also want to see are, playing infront, and beating them to the ball, plenty of scoring from turnovers, no over-handballing, which has been an Achilles heel this season, smart footballing, good tempo decisions, some corridor footy and sticking our tackles. Hope we can hold it in our forward area and not play off our backline, as it puts too much pressure on the backs. The backs are much better when playing high up the ground. The backline hate even one goal against them. Hope they keep there heads up if Brissy get a roll on. Love our young players. Go Dees.
  8. I think Caulfield racecourse is crown land, whereas Flemington and Mooney are owned by the racing clubs. The private entities may be easier to deal with!
  9. Thought BBB's throw in the dying minutes against the Saints was a bit rich. Seems you just have to put a fist on the ball and make a two handed throw. So many indiscretions going past the keeper. Dissent, getting in the protected area when mark and free kick, moving when on the mark, marks off kicks less than 15 meters, holding the ball when player obviously just drops it when tackled and occasionally getting the free for holding the man (even though no legal disposal), whacks to head in marking contest, scragging at stoppages and mauls, sheparding when off the ball, tacklers holding the ball in under the tackled, blocking when team mate has marking position (we get away with it well). Though, what would I know. Oh yeah, the soft frees paid to a few elites and to particular clubs.
  10. Not sure about all of that (ineffective finals player). Would have played in a few final series, and my guess his performance in those would be pretty good. What I do know, is that I enjoyed watching him play. Recently, the match up on May was lovely, brought the best out of May. The "carry on" for frees is right, but that doesn't tarnish him in my eyes. Thought it only happened in his twighlight years. He is "box-office" for the game.
  11. Franklin has been one of the greatest. Amazing footballer to watch. I don't get the dislike. I will miss his entertainment value.
  12. Perhaps this: Melbourne makes progress on plans for new home base at Caulfield Racecourse Melbourne will move its football program to Casey Fields to make room for teams competing in the FIFA Women’s World Cup. And the Dees have their eyes on a long-term fix. Melbourne has pressed ahead with plans to build a new training and administrative base at Caulfield Racecourse in a bid to finally bring the club under one roof. The Demons have hit major hurdles across multiple sites over the past five years but have made progress in their attempts to be part of a massive redevelopment at Caulfield. Pasted from https://www.codesports.com.au/afl/melbourne-makes-progress-on-plans-for-new-home-base-at-caulfield-racecourse/news-story/14645c5cd37830a2aaf164902458cd35 Also has firewall, after a bit of a spiel.
  13. Error, wrong date.
  14. Olympic Park Heidelberg. "Canada, however, will train out of NPL giants Heidelberg United’s home ground – Olympic Village – in Melbourne"
  15. I understand the Wobbles wanted to rest their ground after some storm damage to it. No world cup teams are using AAMI as a training base, and so won’t use the Glass house oval. I expect the world squads to use the AAMI rectangle so they acclimatise themselves to the ground, the day before their game (six games scheduled). The games are at various times, including midweek. They needed our rooms I guess, so off to Casey. I looked at this website to see the schedule and training bases for women's world cup teams. https://keepup.com.au/news/fifa-womens-world-cup-venues-dates-schedule/ So looks like we got kicked out of the area, and the Wobbles took advantage.
  16. I haven’t seen the replay. Though based on your reaction to MFC, unlikely I will be taking your advice. Were you at the game? Did you see Goody relating to Woey, less than 5 minutes before the end? I did see him walk past Joel when on the field with them. Didn’t see Kossie. So, possibly the same issue, he will get to them in good time.
  17. You may vomit emoji at me, I think that shows your agenda. To Judge and point to others, that Goody is a poor leader. I expressed what I saw. There was opinion based on that and other things I've seen with Goody. I also believe his strengths include his management of people. So I go against your agenda and you vomit. Wow!
  18. I was sitting above the interchange area during the game. With less than 5 minutes to play, Goody spoke for a while with Woey when he was on the bench. There also appeared plenty of positive emotions towards him. My guess is, Goody gets around to everyone, in his time, and with a natural, authentic, and unforced manner
  19. Perhaps it is the same as the Bronlow stuff, midfielder award, or for a forward who kicks a bag. A role playing backman who negates the most difficult position in footy (small half forward), isn't going to do much for the pundits to get excited by. He has been so consistent and at times eye catching. Great start to his career. I hope Woey plays some great games out of the mid position, and gets a nomination. Not for nomination sake, but for the fact he continues to build his game and stays in the team. I think nominations for rising star, is a good feather in the cap for the drafting committee.
  20. Lately I've seen a few of our players stand up to being or seeing mates being targeted. We have Pett's, and a new one is Sparrow. Tom gets in there and is a protector. Also, thought someone went hard at him, and he got better in the game. Could be one of those players, where Choco slaps him around a bit, to get the adrenaline flowing, then sets him out to collate Zork. I also suspect JVR wouldn't mind being the rescuer, but too early to tell for sure.
  21. I thought they did well in the earlier part of the season, at scoring. I think they can produce that type of process again. Be good to see them at least give an open game, with taking the central corridors, and some centre bounce dominance, for part of the play on Friday.
  22. I think we have a few different styles of play in us now. A maturing, team and coaches, have made that possible to develop and execute. We haven't used a blitz for a while. Given the capacity of Brissy to blitz, I expect that we will open up the game and forward line on at least one stage Friday night. Used eiither to catch them or put it to bed. Just an opinion. Go Dees.
  23. Personally, I'd like all of the MFC arms in the one spot, including the administrators. Easy to split from Casey, let that team be stand alone VFL and VFLW. Teaming up with a Caulfield footy club, if we go for and get the race track. My point was a little bit about being obliged to use Casey fields if contract, lease and licences forced that, especially if more upgrade stages are on the cards.
  24. With more funding going into Casey, it looks like the clubs facilities will remain split between the country side and the city. Walking away from Casey will cause it to become a "white elephant", which wouldn't be appreciated by those funding it, causing a backlash against our club if we ever end up with stand alone AFL, AFLW and VFL facilities, close to the CBD.
  25. Doesn't he move smoothly around the park. Great change of direction, composed, and delivers.
