I am OK with Woey being dropped. Had a run, knows what to expect next year, or perhaps if an injury occurs to one of the wingers/mids before the season ends. A chance Tomlinson takes the sub position (or Harmes), as they need to get some game time into Joel. Hibbo slots into the backline, unless they decide to keep Chandler. Sparrow is Woey's replacement. A no to Grundy and Spargo from me.

Aliir Aliir & Lachie Jones in Concussion Protocol
kev martin replied to YearOfTheDees's topic in Melbourne Demons
If they are avoiding doing concussion test with their players when it is obvious to many, what is happening at training sessions, etcetera? Run their whole squad through assessments, brain scans, blood analysis and anything else that can diagnose brain problems (monthly psych reviews). If they are not a responsible institution, then put them through the ringer. May act as a deterent in the future, if they find their time consumed by assessments, because of a poor decision or mistake. -

They put the Doctor up as a scapegoat, that let's others off the hook. The doctor made a mistake, LOL. I suggest they all have duty of care. We could all see the hit and effect of the collision to their brains. Anyone who is in a position to do something to mitigate the effect, and didn’t act, should be held negligent. I would like to hear what discussions went on between all staff, players on the bench/box or those close to the impact area. It is unreasonable to think the assessment/discussions from many areas didn’t happen. The no action required, is unbelievable and to put it solely on the doctor is letting others off the hook. (Oh, c'mon Doc, they're out cold.) I also understand the third umpire, review system have some responsibility. I heard someone in the media say that they have some jurisdiction about concussion assessment, if the club doesn't act. -
I watched Goody on the 360 show from the YouTube site. I found his comments about Yze the most interesting. He said he looks after, "mids, stoppages, and offense ". Is that the change we are observing with the ball entry into the 50? He was asked about having a strong discussion with Gawny at half-time, against Richmond. Leadership, and home truths about effort (I think), made a difference to our game and possibly the season.

We tackled very well without any reward from the umpires. I kept on seeing we had two free kicks paid to us, for much of the game. Made up a few in the last. More likely the umps swallowed the whistle, and the undisciplined Tigers gave us the break, with that 50. The Rich fans seem to "boo" at everything, poor "boohoo".

What an enjoyable game. Reminded me of the 70's, with the boots being on the other foot. Used to be us having to win against a contender to give us a chance for the finals. They stayed with us, until we ran over them in the last. Well done fitness coaches. The umpires helped us with a goal from a free and a 50 in the second, that led us to another. Undisciplined Richmond. The next one in the last with the head high free in the goal square that pushed the score well away from the Tigers. Max just gets better, what a great last quarter. Our tackling killed them, didn't think I would see Tigers hear so many footsteps and panic. Great structures around the field. Backline stopped them when they were rushed. Tigers still play the corridor well. Our wings continued to hold their width and give us some outlets. Forwards gave us options. Makes for a happy week.

Cannot watch anymore, off to the MCG. What bad scheduling.

We are managing playing against the wind, much better this quarter.
-
BBB looks like he is carrying a niggle. No game plan, scrappy, Williams' playing better windy footy, we look like individuals. Spargo good, Grundy hasn't got a leading pattern, very scrappy game, full of tackles, no stand outs for me.
-
They need to develop a game plan against the wind. I would've thought Casey to have plenty of experience in these conditions. Why no swarm of smalls handling and running the ball, with bigs giving the one, two's, playing in-front and expecting the ball to be all over the place. Well done Jefferson with that last goal assist. Adams doing all right, and Hibbo into it no matter where he plays. The ball will go over the back when we go forward with the wind.

I heard them say, tendon with two hamstrings muscle involved. If a typical Hammy, there is no way he would have been running at all, after the injury. I'd say, a bit of hamm but with a tendon strain. I would also suggest that is why he became frustrated as tendon don't feel much at the time, but flair the next day, after some exhaustion. Hams always give some awareness, tendons not so much. Both, and diagnosis, prognosis and treatment, means complexity.
-
I have some tendon problems in the calf area. I could run hard for about 25 minutes, without any effect the next day. I could continue running for more time, as long as I wanted, but the next day I was limping. Taking a full rest for 8 weeks was the only way I could repair the tendon. Though the tendon could ping at anytime, especially when sprinting, and I was back to 8 weeks of rest, massage, acupuncture, and ultrasound treatments. I found tendons to be the most complicated of injuries, I have had. Get Clarry right, we need him for at least, the next 8 years.

Put it up, then ask Daisy, together with a few of her previous team-mates, to give a pregame Gee-up, highlighting feminine qualities.
-
How non-woke is that. As if females aren't tough. We could embrace the force, bring the resilience, heart, determination, courage, intelligence, connection, I could keep going with She qualities. Living in the dark ages, comments leaning towards a sexist and misogynistic bent. I guess they are not alone in that uneducated or uncomprehending box.

Last season we were playing well, early in the fixture. We also won away games easier than at home (from recollection). The MCG, just wasn’t suited to the pressure game we were playing. We also smashed teams early, or in at least one of the quarters, and then let them come at us. Held on early in the season, then in later rounds, were run over. The biggest changes this year, include our capacity to run out the fourth quarter, win on the MCG, use a few styles of play, be flexible in where we position a variety of players, and build the season, as we peak, hopefully towards the Grand. The finals at The G last year, we couldn't play there and were winding down.

That all good and likeable. That is why I responded, and being called a clown for theatrics purposes, well! Just an opinion. When at stoppages for example, we are constantly changing the player who is after the tap. Which one does the opponent hold back? When the forward line sets up. Who is pushing into the centre, who is swapping positions? Is the backline going to play high or sit back? We are even trying to create one on one's in the forward area, as well as open it up. The backline has learnt more about creating tempo and switching (still a work in progress). Players are playing roles all over the field and swapping those roles with each other. We use the bench very well. We have a subtle game strategy and I say again, we must be a headache to play against. Apart from coaching, our players must also give the oppo coaches a headache. Who stops Tracc, how do they run with our wingers, how can they minimise the impact from our backs, how do they stop our desperation, what do they do to clear our foward area and minimise the repeat entries. We are always on their mind, and if we aren't we hammer them. Also, some teams learn from us and set themselves to play us.
-
I think you are calling me the clown. I noticed your laughing emoji on on my post. So is it, coaching or lack of 4 quarters? The coaching group, are constantly moving players around on the field. That is why I believe we give the opposition a headache. We don't match up easily. For the other to play better than us, they need "to take it on", play their own style, and hit the corridors. If they play to restrict us, they lose. Good coaching, forcing that, now if we could only stop the oppositions fast ball movement for the 4 quarters. You're a cynic without much optimism, thriving on loss and judgement. Do you see the worst and hope for the best, or are you just stuck in the mire of hopelessness and worthlesness? At least you have the Wobbles to rock your boat.
-
The media have always talked about the Woods, whether sinking, floating, or bazzing. I just wish the Demonlander's wouldn't follow suit. There are 18 teams and I find too much thought is about Pies, especially by the media.
-
The media keep building the Wobbles up this season. We are seen as maybe, and fly under the radar, though haven't heard the snow mentioned yet. I did hear they have a hand on it already. What kind of joke is that. Even when they are down the media will continue to make stories about them. Must be because of their large number of supporters, and the media is about the bucks, and they roll towards higher bids. Don't buy into it, Demonlander's. The finals are, as they say, a new season. I also don't see the top 4 as the only one's capable of winning the cup. Be great to have them not mentioned, unless they are opponents. Again, it is only my opinion, and others must float their boats on something, just wish it was more about MFC, and not the media's darlings.

Well done Demon Army. When setting up at the centre bounces in the last, out came the raucous, MCG filling chants. Lifted them, as it gave them a reminder, that they have fans to play for. Great work on the banner as well. @WalkingCivilWar

Too much bombing it into forwards and allowing intercepts. When we lowered the eyes, or went quickly we looked so much better. All those turnovers, then giving up the corridor as they played quickly, hurt us. When we held them up we controlled the game. We have to be able to stop those quick plays, we just don't transition well when it happens fast. Must also be ready when a team decides to "take it on". Played well when we had too. The stoppages worked well. Our process to ice the game worked OK. Still needs a bit of work to make sure we find the boundary. Don't like the handballs to players in bad positions. Thought we were going to tackle well, when pregame we focused on it. Pressure was good, just couldn't hold them. A good win, with entertainment value of a close game. Glad we hit back at the right times and held on.

Drizzle has stopped. Breaks in clouds now, as blue peaks through.

Wet or slippery game, still drizzling here in the city. Forecast says the sprinkle is abating. Marks are so important to our structures. At least, I hope we play infront and have the right boots on. We have been playing consistently over the four quarters (better than previous years, and last week drop in 2 and 3 was an aberration, plus a little bath water), showing we have built our maturity. Love our young players. The mids are doing well, led by Gus, with Clarry out and Tracc foward. C'mon those on the edge of selection, push hard today. Our team is so much more flexible in our set ups and styles now, good coaching. We must be a headache to play against. Go Dees.

Thought I could see some development happening for the AFL listed. Jefferson finding good positions, Adams looking stronger, Verrall getting some involvement, Deakin.S playing well, Sestan, though not much involvement is looking fit, running out the game and looks like he has improved his skin folds. Spargo and Dunstan played well. Harmes, I wish he wouldn't play himself or others into trouble. Dursma can take a mark. Edwards looks composed, moves well, gets involved. Grundy nearly, though for a big paid, player should be dominating at VFL level. Started taking his marks in the 4th.

Sometimes turning it all off and on, gets it going.
