Some tv shots of the Dees AFL team. Their training session has finished.
-
Getting some forward 50 marks. Dees 34 28 mins in Dogs 57
-
Dogs were keeping us in it, since they couldn't convert. They get one, then another and another. Dees 16 18 mins in Dogs 57
-
Stuck in the Dogs forward line for the first 10 minutes. We can't get it going off our backline.
-
2 fifties and a non-call for in the back, led Dogs to goals. We're still in it.
-
Good finals footy, playing with plenty of niggle off the ball and tackles. Dees going well, Dogs cannot get any flow going. Harmes and Munro in everything, Deakin and AMW playing well. Using our handball to break lines. Dees 9 20 mins in to quarter Dogs 14 Dogs getting the soft umpire calls already.

You picked it, Blister (as they say "I'll show myself out"). Include the timing for the AFL game, and the VFL H&A fixture, this comp is compromised. Go Dees.

Does anyone know, what has happened to Baldi? Anything about Burgoyne?
-
Given that the Pies trained on the "G" today, I expect us to get a run on it tomorrow (Saturday) and not Gosch's.

I think I was at a training last season when she was running around within the team. If she is the same one I watched, I noticed she was a very good kick, and she is a reasonable size. Both good attributes for us, as a key position player.

Speculation of training program. From the FB page with some photos of being them at Casey for a run today, I would guess that they train again, Saturday morning, Monday morning and the Captain's run Wednesday, at Gosch's for the advertised open training. https://www.melbournefc.com.au/teams/training-times AFL Training Sessions Open Training Wednesday 6 September 9:00am - 10:30am Includes retail, membership, food trucks, face-painting, sponsor giveaways. Perhaps at Gosch's Saturday (start 9.00 or 9.30 am), before they head to Boxhill to support the Casey team, (they may do it at Casey though). Monday could be their main training, I expect it to be a closed session, out at Casey.

I wrote this about Fritta before it was said, he had a moon boot on. He looked good against the Swans, had beautiful leading patterns, and was sharp with ball. Not too worried, just hope he pulls up well after the Colly AFL game now. Be interesting to see who they play.

AFLW 2023 countdown to Round 1 + Trivia
kev martin replied to Dees_In_October's topic in AFLW Melbourne Demons
Just watched the Footy Classified Show, and they ended with, "enjoy the week off", as if there was no AFL being played. They must know that the AFL women starts this week. I also did not hear any commentary about the games. If Wilson was on, I'm sure she would have at least mentioned the opening week. Women's elite sports have such a difficult task to get real support. If Collingwood was unfurling the flag on Friday night, would the Collingwood show (footy classified) and the mouth piece Eddy, have made a song and dance about it? I don't get the lack of media support. There is a product there with AFLW, yes? -
There is also no seating on the wing. All of them go, MCC and AFL. Bay 15 was the closest we got to the wing, with those gone leaving bay 13, (some are more equal than others). Quite often that bay goes to the other team, leaving the wingers in 12 or 11.

There has been a rule, that if AFL team in finals, then if player has had at least one game in VFL, they may be eligible for VFL team. Can only find old rules from 2011 and 2016. They have different final structures. VFL qualifications is a rabbit's Warren of words, rules and sub-clauses.

This one? Though unclear as the bye and beginning of the VFL finals series has changed since 2016 https://websites.mygameday.app/assoc_page.cgi?c=1-118-0-0-0&sID=277333

What a great time to be a Dees fan. Loved our second half of our H&A season. Got the pundits on side. Who have dropped the Pies, after their love child went down (J Daicos). We play, Thursday week, so the wait isn't too bad. We are at the "G", for some redemption from last year. We have a tough team, who will not roll over, in it up to the "eyeballs", as they say. Get Possessed (MFC finals branding theme), Go Dees.

Do it twice.

Not so great for the Casey team, but could help AFL players having a run. If a Sunday game then a 4 day turn around would be difficult. At least now they get the 5 day break, and perhaps with some calculated minutes, our fringe players may get a look at playing in the Possessed game (MFC final branding term). TMac, JJ, Schache, Spargo, Grundy, Tomlinson (BBB, Woey, AMW), possible inclusions. Could they put Fritta or Hibbo in for half a game. Though Fritta looked matched ready against Sydney.

Anyone have an idea, the cost to the tickets for the finals game against the Colly?

Liked our win, and the period starting near the end of the third to the end of the 4th quarter. The fumbling in the early parts of the game worried me. I wanted to see crisp, clean footy. We're a powerful team and outmuscled the bloods. Turner worked his way into an OK game. Love his extender arms when spoiling from behind. Fritta's leading patterns are hard to stop, didn't miss a beat. Hard edged, with will power, and self belief. Not pretty, but effective as we win the territory battle. Played reasonably on a small oval, we are best on the big ones, I reckon. Looks like a few of the MFC team are carrying some niggles. Good time for a mini break. Bad luck we don't get two extra days, like the favoured ones do.

No idea, but Melky was ready to have a great finals series. Hope it was only a twinge/pinch, and the pictures come back without serious damage.

Amazed that Nth have only about 6, 7 AFL listed players. Well done TMac, doing everything he can for an AFL spot. Harmes looks off. Spargo still plenty to offer. Grundy making an early impact. JJ goes about it well.
