No Family Day this year. Instead, three events to replace it. The scratch match at Casey on February the 18th, an open training session at Gosch’s during the April school holidays and the same thing during the July school holidays. There’ll be player autographs/photo opportunities, kids’ activities, partner giveaways, various coffee/food vans and of course, a Demon Army BBQ and cupcake stall.

So basically the Family Day has been canned.

We have a scratch match every year and there are usually kids holiday programs anyway and open training sessions aimed at kids.

  2. Would be interested to get the panels take on Salem's game this week and I guess an overall take on his form since his return from injury since the Port Adelaide game.

I thought his first 3 quarters were terrible. He couldn't get his hands on the pill. To his credit he lifted his game in the last.

Taking away the emotion and my love for the guy and all of his past contributions and the memory of his exceptional first half in the Granny I would even say he could be on the verge of needing a spell to find form. However we are at the pointy end of the season and with Bowey possibly injured and Hibbo possibly returning from concussion and very little game time in the past month or so I don't think we can afford to do that.

Plus we do know what he is capable of and I hope he can turn it around on the fly.

Love the podcast, thank you, and keep up the great job guys. Some exciting times ahead.

  4. Looking forward to another stellar podcast from you gents.

My question tonight is; Given Max's incredible solo performances in the Ruck over the past few weeks and Petty and JVR's 10 goal one two punch as tall forwards where does that leave Brodie Grundy.

Is there a role for him this season as either a backup ruck to Max or as the 3rd tall in the forwards line.

  5. The Tigers worry me a little bit. Early in the year I was hoping that this return game against them would be a cakewalk as their season would be in tatters by now. Now for the second week in a row we're playing against a team with their season on the line and a sniff of finals. Whilst I would love to end their season I don't think we will have an easy task of it.

What do we need to do to put them out of their misery.

Love the Podcast and I'll take my answer off the air.

  6. Trac’s forays up forward have really paid off in the past two weeks. 8 goals 2, 46 possessions, 26 contested, 8 marks, 9 tackles. Do you think we will see Petracca played in the same manner for the rest of the season in a Dusty of old like role?

My husband is coming this Friday... relax, we got this!*

*as per usual, if we lose, he will be solely blamed for the catastrophic outcome

My wife is making her season 2023 debut at the footy this Friday and joining me at the President's Lunch (dinner?).

She has a 100% win record at the footy but if we lose there is another person we can blame.

Forward connection and accuracy was a lot better this week.

Any concerns that the victory was aided by the fact that the Saints were 3 men down from quarter time?

I'd say it was a big concern. Despite the Saints only having two on the Bench for most to the match they won the Inside 50 count by 6, Overall Possessions by 26, Contested Possession by 8 and despite winning the Hitouts by 21 we broke even at the Stoppages.

Imagine what would have happened if those 3 Saints players didn't go down and they weren't wasteful in their possession and timid in taking the game on.

I'll absolutely take the 4 points and there were some minor improvements in our game but we were by no means impressive considering the carnage on the Saints bench.

  9. Selection will be interesting this week. If Petty returns as a permanent forward this week against the Giants will the Dees bring back Adam Tomlinson into the side after he was unceremoniously dumped after his great Kings Birthday showing so that we retain the 3 genuine talls in defence?

Or could we see Ben Brown make a triumphant return as a good showing in the 2s?

Did you guys like Petty in the forward line?

He's competitive and a good mark, but you can see he lacks forward craft and skills.

I'd imagine he may return to the back line with Kozzy coming into the list.

Props to Demonland's trackwatcher Kev Martin for providing us with the early mail on Petty in the Forward line.

I thought it was a masterstroke particularly with JVR debuting. It really took some pressure off Rooey because having Petty up forward required a decent defender.

If you would have told me that we would be without TMac and then lose Ben Brown by half time and still kicked over 130 points I would have called you crazy. I don't think we've seen the last of TMac or BBB but I'm not worried about the future of our forward particularly because I see young Matt Jefferson kicked 3 in the twos. All hail Jason Taylor.

  11. It will be interesting to see if Tom McDonald lines up for Casey. Word is his foot has come up sore after each match. Not sure why the club aren't just being honest with supporters if this is the case. Rumours that May will be a late out too.

  12. We didn't adapt to the slippery slick ball and we were fumbling it all night. Conversely the Lions didn't seem to have the same problems with the conditions. Perhaps they are used to playing and training in these conditions.

My question is why don't we train to the conditions? I'm not suggesting water logging Goschs or Casey but surely knowing that we might be playing in humid conditions why not lather up the ball with soap or oil at training? Why not train more at night in the lead up to night games? Am I being silly?
