Said similar before myself. Max wins his tap then does nothing to help the midfielders clear the congestion. He is a liability almost when the ball hits the ground. He needs to start throwing his weight around, he is a huge unit but Spargo plays with more tenacity around the contests. Max needs to start playing with lot more aggression, clearing paths for our onballers by blocks/screens or just throwing himself at a contest and make things happen.
Complaining to the umpires shows the weak mindset he actually has during games.
Seeing him being bullied by comparative midgets says a lot about us. He is our Captain and if he does not lead by example and fly the flag occasionally, who will?
Love Max as a "character" and apparently he trains like a dedicated footballer should, but it is time to show a hardened edge to his game to not make him so easy to play against.
I don't think Max gets angry though, or he never shows it by his actions.
Every match is a virtual war, he needs to start playing accordingly. ATM a player like Mumford would do a lot more for our esteemed midfield.
FFS get angry and SHOW it Max!
I love Max but he gets bullied every game and just sooks. Needs to dish some out

The little fella was at it again on the weekend. He has the midas touch.
For all the angst he cops on here he is absolutely vital to our team.
I'm his biggest critic, great to see him have a great game but hopefully he can carry this on against some decent sides

If they increase to 75% you’d have to be pretty stiff to miss out on a 40,000 capacity.
We’ve only once got 40,000 to a Saints v Dees game at Marvel and that was when we started the season 3-0 and were flying at the time.

Funny that it's been approx 16 years since we've been 3-0

We recruited Bowey Laurie and Rosman but you guys are not patient enough.
Give them time but if u must start a chorus for ANB as he runs both ways but disposal may be a bit dodgy now and then.
Bowey=backman
Laurie=forward
Rosman=utility
Tom Phillips was up for grabs

Spargo played very well.
Great to see but I hope he can replicate this against a decent side

Not his best game for us today. Played within himself, lacked a bit of confidence. We need his swagger if we're to beat the saints next week
Many opportunities for trac today, 2 fumbled marks in the first quarter however still a solid game from him. Would love to see him in beast mode next week
-
Just wondering if anyone has any clue how ticket sales are likely to be done next week given the Reduced capacity and an away game ?

I reckon the club should get a please clarify from the umpires dept on the Hunt in the back free that gave Freo a goal and the Salem dangerous tackle free (both in the first half). I thought neither were there (potentially biased)
How about the Tom mcdonald 50m penalty 10 mins into the first quarter, that was a gift for us. The poor umpiring went both ways

Gawn was average. I thought sides had learnt how to negate his rucking but for large parts today they didn’t need to, he just found them on his own. Urgent stoppage practice at Casey this week pls
One of his worst games I've seen him play, good to know we can still win with him playing poorly though

Interesting watching the Hawks match. Wonder how our backline would function if we still had Frost playing for us, say instead of Tomlinson. Working in with Lever and May would be interesting.
Why is it the Hawks with a young side, saying they are rebuilding, look more organised than us and showcase better skills overall and of course they nailed nearly every set shot for goal. That accuracy kept them in the game. What was our set shot conversion rate today? Less than 50% for shots inside 40m I suspect.it is a problem we have had for the last 3 years but the usual suspects continue to struggle to nail set shots from 30m. And not helped by the fact that Jackson has the total yips.
I thought both hawks and dons looked average tonight

I get some of the difficulties but Jesus Christ today was a day for the supporters of the club to make a statement. They keep wanting the club and team to make a statement they need to do it themselves. When they showed the 21k figure on scoreboard I was embarrassed. We want the AFL to treat us with respect (eg not shunt us off to Cairns for 2 games in 5 days making us fly up the same day as our game) we need to earn not just by results onfield but by the supporters showing they actually give a damn.
No doubt head office would've been looking at that and rueing the dollars gone begging by agreeing not to switch our game with the Hawks/Bombers.
Soft as from so many of our supporters

Anyone know why Rivers played such low time on ground?
Dodgy backline rotations? Or maybe the plan was to use him and Hunt in spurts more than the other backs?Because he kept coughing it up

I didn't log on once during pre-season. I thought I'd take a bit of a Demonland break.
I watched round one and saw us cruise to an easy win, that never at any stage looked remotely in doubt, that should have been bigger than it was. I saw Steven May and Jake Lever lead defensive team put on an absolute clinic. I saw an extremely exciting debut from James Jordon. I saw TMac and Nev Jetta back to close to their best.
I read the posts on here and the rate in which my mood sank was actually tangible. You guys have become so jaded, that you have actually become physically incapable of just enjoying good things when they happen. And when you do it, it rubs off on me. You make me feel ****ty. I honestly did not feel one shred of anger and disappointment, until I logged on to Demonland.
I'm out. And you have no idea how sad that makes me.
Grow up. No one is complaining about the scoreline but there wasn't much improvement from 2020

Geez we missed Oscar out there today, would of made all the difference
Oscar is quite close to the worst Melbourne player we've had

Having Jones on the wing for parts of the game still doesn't feel me with confidence, feel like we still need a few more mids with pace

Great game, surprised me. Hopefully he can put some size on and keep up the good work

He played a little bit too cute today, needs to take the first option more often, use his good footskills rather than rely on the handball. Still nice to see he got the pill though

15 outstanding marks between May and Lever against Freo today.
Absolutely fantastic effort by Lever and May
Hopefully they can keep the good work up, liked May's long kicking today too
