In regards to the real or perceived perception that the MRO does its best to protect the top players/brownlow chances, I think there is a pretty simple change that could be made.

They should only ban players from winning the brownlow if they are sent direct to the tribunal. Given how easy it is to be suspended these days, you could be slightly off on your attack on the ball and cop a week suspension. Suspensions previously were for acts off the ball or hitting a bloke late, whereas now you can be a millisecond off and get a suspension.

I can’t recall who it was now, maybe King, but he once stated that they should just rid of the “fairest” part of the Brownlow. He stated that if you get suspended for 2,3 or 4 matches etc and can still win the Brownlow, good on you, you have clearly been the best player. Stated that the Brownlow is already compromised anyway, as it’s basically just a midfielder medal.

  2. As my MCFSS starts to kick in for tonights big match. A few stats from Hoyney on the Sportsday podcast on Tuesday.

    1. Melbourne are ranked No.1 at taking the most difficult shots at goal after 5 rounds, we are just kicking accurately, 10% above expected scores. Exactly like last years first 5 rounds.

    2. Melbourne are the 6th easiest team to move the ball against.

    3. Brisbane are the the No.1 at moving the ball.

Might be  bit of a slingshot game tonight, lots of ball movement. Hopefully we keep our accuracy up whilst keeping them under 70pts.

  3. ANB is a great team first, roll player. He had a great year in 2021 when we won the flag, I believe it was mainly due to the fact that other players bought in on the non selfish, team first mentality. We lost that team first mentality a bit after the GF. I can’t recall the player, Trac or Lever maybe?, that stated in a post game interview this year that we are focusing on getting back to that team first mentality. ANB starts to shine when the whole team plays selfless footy, in my opinion.

Reckon some Magpie fans probably left when they were 5 goals down

Just got out of a show at Hamer Hall, there's a few Pies supporters on this Sandy train and quite a few were at Richmond Station. 😁

  5. Same old cr4p. Hodgey stated just before we kicked our 2nd goal on 1/2 time, we had kicked 1.8 from 29 entries. We never put teams away early when we have the chance.

Edit: We needed to take advantage before the humidity kicked in.

  6. We moved to Melbourne at the end of 1984, a family friend who was a mad Richmond supporter took my dad and me to my first game in 1986, Tigers vs Dees. As a young fella does, I picked the Dees because I liked their colours and nickname more. We lost by 9pts that game, but I don’t change teams. It’s been a frustrating run, but that feeling of when we won the flag was pretty special after years of pain. 🏆❤️💙

This is not potting anyone that's made the Fyfe references - but isn't he a bit small for this kind of comparison (unless he's still growing)?  I know its only a few centimetres and players can play shorter or taller than their height... but he's currently 3cm shorter than Fyfe.

For context he's 1cm shorter than Rivers and 1cm taller than Petracca.

The comparison is in the way he moves, you don’t have to be the exact same height to be compared to someone and 3cm isn’t a big difference. I would understand your point if Spargo was compared to Fyfe. 😉

Which show did he call it a fluke? That’s pretty disrespectful if true. We’re the only team with 3 consecutive top 4 finishes at the moment. We’re nothing like the 2016 dogs.

I think it was todays episode (Monday 4th) of Access all areas? Barrett got the “doom and gloom, what if?” question for the Dees/Pies.

If I recall, he stated something along the lines that if the Dees lose, questions might start to be asked if we were lucky to win the flag in 2021, did we just hit form in a Covid year in the bubble? Taking into account our poor finals in 2022.

For the Pies, along the lines of, They can’t lose, with how they dominated the year.

To be honest, I sort of agree. The pressure is on the Pies, the Media and their supporters have pumped them up all year. If they go out in straight sets, Vic Park will be burned down. 😂  As for the Dees, if we don’t win the flag this year, I would 100% expect people, including supporters, to question if we got lucky in 2021 like the Bulldogs in 2016? With the Cats, Hawks and Tigers all getting on a roll and winning multiple flags, people forget how hard it is to win a GF. I’m ecstatic that we won one in my lifetime, but I would be a little disappointed if we don’t get at least 1 more within the next 2-3 years.

It seems that Bomber blitzers no longer gloat about “we got Parish, you only got Oliver”😂😂😂

Parish is going to need security to escort him to his car, from the Bombers supporters. Collingwood supporters may even protect Parish. 😂
