MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 11

The only thing that has shaken my confidence, is you jumping off the bandwagon. You've been a beacon of hope the last few months. -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 11

We'll be talking finals again in 33 hours. -
We're going to miss her. This was two days ago: https://www.facebook.com/AFLQUEENSLAND/videos/10153983837241066/ Tayla has spoken in glowing terms of the Melbourne Football Club and would have loved to have maintained a link with the club and the girls she's obviously got to know pretty well but at the end of the day she works for AFLQ and is one of the key marketing tools used in the promotion of the women's game up here. And more importantly, her mum would miss her too much if she moved to Victoria, even if it was for only three months a year.

Are there any Dees fans who are teachers?
Goodvibes replied to MrBurns's topic in General Discussion
Being a teacher is the best way to live out your footballing fantasies by coaching kids and getting a day off school every few weeks. I've been doing it for 20 years. -
I'm surprised there's not more talk about Oliver's hit on Prestia. I think he's in trouble.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN KENNEDY

I was in that pocket H and it was my highlight too. Opposition supporters are going to hate him. I love it. -
Had a heap of fun at Metricon tonight. Too stuffed to post too much but just to add something a little different, I thought McDonald did really well against Lynch. Sure Lynch was still one of their best players and quite influential in the first half but McDonald spoilt him numerous times one on one. Likewise I thought Garland despite the horrendous handball in the first quarter did really well when competing in the air again Wright. Hardly recall him being beaten. Like others have said, Hunt is very exciting and the clean hands of Clarry was a joy to watch first hand. Loved Jetta's game and big Max is close to the most influential player in the league right now. Pedersen is playing his role very very well. Petracca's exuberance really lifts the team. I was on my feet riding home his first goal before he even took possession. Can't wait for Salem, Brayshaw, Trengove, vandenBerg and Weideman to add further structure and polish to this team.

Pumped for this weekend. Obviously Petracca debuting is exciting but I'm a bit proud to see one of my old players and students debut at the Gabba tomorrow. Hope Petracca and Aliir both have an impact.

Supermecado in fine form this week. " . . the Buggery party continued unabated . . "

He almost had a strut going on Sunday night. He's definitely back. When he was struggling with injury last year you could read in his body language that he wasn't quite right. His return to form and McDonald's renewed confidence in the air are significant factors. The run of Lumumba and the return of Kent are also considerable. Gawn and Salem playing week in week out is super important. If only Brayshaw was hitting his straps. I guess we can't have everything.

Found some computer skills.

Can someone with better computer skills than me do what needs to be done?

stuie I'll make this really clear. I will respond to you once and once only. I've seen some people on this site treat you really poorly. I feel you're often misunderstood and have some quality footballing views to offer. I've often been tempted to jump to your defence (not that you'd claim you need it) but find that difficult to do when I then see you adopt such a confrontational, point scoring stance so regularly, rather than simply debating the topic at hand. Whether you agree or not, you involve yourself in regular spats on this site. You've clearly become the common denominator and need to address why this is. I'm guessing many like me have been skirting past the in-fighting on this forum in search of the hidden gold and have grown increasingly frustrated in the process. Today, I reached my limit. I'm asking you, as plainly as I can to stop. Talk footy. It's easy, particularly when you finally have a team to watch that doesn't drive you to want to throw a brick through your tv screen every week.

Please don't derail another thread. Play the ball. It's seriously getting boring.

I finally watched the replay in the early hours of this morning. This selection is one of the most interesting in years. At the top of my outs list would be M Jones, Pedersen, Frost, Bugg, Hunt and Wagner but there's strong arguments for the retention of all six. Pedersen and Frost were very impressive. Watch the last 5 minutes of the third quarter again. Frost and Pedersen have clearly defined roles and are playing them as well as they currently can. Frost obviously has more upside but still dropped two or three marks that would have rounded out an impressive game. Pedersen was rolled out to meet the media this week after one of his most complete games for the club. I really don't see either being dropped. Matt Jones has been terrific this year but his deficiencies are still obvious. He'd be very unlucky to miss out. Can you drop Hunt or Wagner? Both had really strong games. Do we back them in now and adjust the roles of Salem and Vince? Or pump their tyres up and tell them the club now knows they're up to it but send them back to Casey with the strong message that their time is nigh? Bugg for me is the clear weak link in the team. He's not overly quick, very one sided and turns it over by foot. But again, as Nasher said earlier, how can you drop someone who has had 29 disposals and 9 tackles. Other arguments could be made for Harmes or Brayshaw but Harmes looks to me as if he's just arrived and I don't want to see Brayshaw ever play for Casey again. If it was two weeks from now and we were coming off a loss, I'd have Garlett, Vince, Trengove, ANB and Petracca in for Bugg, Frost, Wagner, M Jones and Harmes. This week though? I still don't know. Garlett and Vince for M Jones and Frost . . . maybe.

Very [censored] right now. Just wanted to say that normally I'm very circumspect, respectful and cautious but today, in the company of two pies supporters I decided to back my team in with loud, obnoxious, support and the boys didn't let me down. Great day. Go Dees!!!

Thats the thing though Roost.. Im out of hope. It has been replaced by despair and anger. 10 years of rubbish will do that to you. So stop treating us like a punching bag and go find well . . . a real punching bag.

Trying to reply to Sue, but it seems this site performs as well as our club. Will SOMEONE find a way to fix it ??? Anyway Sue, i have read you apologistic nonsense for ages, so i already know you are happy to accept mediocrity. it is obvious my standards are much higher than yours. We lost Again Thats 16 in a row to North. Knock yourself out trying to find excuses for losing.. Meanwhile i will be watching the Dogs take Hawthorn to the wire. We can only DREAM of doing that. If you didn't have hope you wouldn't be posting on Demonland right now.

We're going to be a football team. Whether this battered and bruised group of supporters has the patience and belief is another question.
-
I really hope it's going to be one of those special days away from Melbourne, where you get to see something special today Clint. I still remember the 2002 Gabba comeback game fondly. This could be your Gabba comeback.
-
After the train wreck that was last week's game, games like tonight are important for morale. The return of Trengove, the emergence of Weideman and Petracca give us something to genuinely look forward to. Hope they all get through safely and have good games.

Where's that Big Lebowsi GIF when you need one. I guess I don't see it as being blindly optimistic to think we can comfortably beat Essendon and compete for a flag in a few years. We've been in the absolute wilderness for 8 years, I think we're allowed to dream a little, particularly when that dream is based on the young talent that we now have at the club. But you're certainly entitled to your opinion. I just don't share it. -
When Melbourne wins, I read every single footballing site on the planet, BF included. You've got to know where to go - particularly in the lead up to the draft there's some quality reads to be found.
