  1. And I thought I screwed up in life marrying a Hawthorn supporter.
  2. If Kelly wants to play in an immediately successful Vic based team, then he would need to moderate his asking price wherever he goes I would think. I he's just interested in being a mercenary, then I'm sure there are several presently struggling Vic based teams with room in their cap to fit him in. I don't want him if he has that mercenary mentality anyway (we've already disposed of $cully on that basis). The real question would be what it would require to facilitate the trade. This year's first round and a future years one based on the Trelor trade might be enough.
  3. When I was watching the Pies game last week Dunn took a good saving mark close to full back in the third quarter when the game was in the ballance... and then proceeded to kick it straight to Dangerfield ... who then let him off the hook and sprayed what was a fairly simple set shot. Anyways, he has some good recient form in this area. It could also be true (and let's hope it's not) that he could bob up at a critical time and bomb a clutch goal from outside 50 like he has for us a few times going back, he's just that sort of player.
  4. Did Dunn make a statement that warrents this statement/insult. As far as I'm concerned I hold little or no resentment towards Dunn because he essentialy left for the opportunity to play footy at the senior AFL level that he wasn't getting and wasn't likely to get with us in the future. He was a loyal and dedicated servant of the MFC for many years before moving. Jeremy Howe on the other hand is the one who left for either or both more money, perceived better success and the opportunity to play as a perminant forward (Haha to that too). Ultimately we received next to no value for Jeremy leaving compared to the value he has provided the scum. The better he plays for them, the more I beguin to despise him. Melbourne supporters should BOOOOOOOO this Jezza bloke on Saturday afternoon. He's not quite a Scully, but he went to that filthy Collingwood scum and that makes him nearly as bad.
  5. Perhaps, but Howe also knows where to go to get the ball and gets pleanty of it. I'd almost be tempted to play Watts on Howe in a defensive forward role and let Howe lead Jack to the ball. I think they'd be well matched athleticly (except for aerially) and if Watts were to play it well, it could really come off for us by taking their best defensive play maker out of the game and getting our best attacking play maker into the game. Hogan and Pedo could provide the main targets up forward and could be less impeded by Howe if Watts can do a good job on him. Barring Watts, I think either Melksham or Harmes are the match-ups we should be targeting for Howe. Hassel the F#@$ out of Howe and make the slimy turd doublely regret leaving us for that filth.
  6. Love his segment on the MFC site Simon's selections http://m.melbournefc.com.au/video/2017-08-24/rd-23-simons-selection. Punchy and too the point. It took me a while to warm to this segment and Goodwin in general after Roos and his equivalent segment "Roos Views". I'm guessing Roos had to do a lot more talking and external perception management than perhaps he would have ideally liked, due to the nature of where we were comming from on-feild over his reign. Goodwin is at times almost blunt with the media, without being a complete a-hole like someone like Malthouse was. Just showing how much things have changed in one or two seasons, love the fact that we are approaching Saturdays game as favourites before going into finals with the expectation that we should win and secure a definite finals spot. It is dangerous for us to be favorites I know, but it's still poles apart from us being rank outsiders and with only a remote mathematical chance of scraping into the 8. The opposite matchday result of last Rd last season is what we want. Awaiting Saturday's game with real excitement and atisipation. GO DEMONS.
  7. Agree with all the aforementioned, with the exception that Jack Watts has an opportunity to become legends for the club over the next 2 - 6 years (as do many players with his potential on our list). Let's face it if we hope to be a good team and play dominant seasons, finals and grand finals in that sort of period, then it presents a lot of opportunities. To gauge a player's ultimate value to the team simply on what they produce in the next few weeks is foolish in the extreme (not accusing you of that Wrecker). I often think our expectations of players are unrealistically high. There are few players in the history of the game that have gone through their careers without some kind of form slump and very few key position forwards that have been dominant players early in their career. Again if we are realistic, Jack Watts is not really a traditional key forward and will probably never be a bone crunching courageous marking type, but he has the potential to be an extremely damaging player in his own way through his elite feild vission, feild passing and shots on goal. Whilst he has let us down with perceived effort/courage on many occasions during his development (and even some recient history), he has also stood up on many occasions in big moments and been a match winner in games. As we improve as a side, I think life will actually get easier for Watts and as well as him gaining in confidence and understanding of what it required. For this week, going his on the contested possessions, tackling and report/MRP that he has produced at Casey, he clearly has the intent back and that combined with Jack Watts playing at even half his potential best is better than what either Wagner, Stretch or Hannan have produced in recient weeks. The up-side to Watts far surpasses any of the aforementioned.
  8. Probably belongs in the Lever or other list managment thread, but no way I'd give Frost and a 1st rounder for Lever. No way I'd give up a 1st rounder altogether for Lever either. We have fairly solid key position and other backline players as it is, when you consider we have the two Mc Donalds, Frost, Jetta, Hibbard, Hunt and possibly Salem in that group. I don't know what the facination with Lever is in that sense anyway. I really think we still need a few more quality mids to replace the aging Jones, Vince and Lewis. Unless we could somehow snag a bargin ready made player, I actually see going to the draft to target quality genuine mids as the way to build our list in future years. Sometimes you can get lucky with late picks, but I really think that there still has to be some correlation with low picks and ultima quality/ability (i.e. Clarry, Judd, Hodge etc).
  9. So did I. Apparently those are $2.40 for Pies
  10. Purposely oppted for a first WE in October wedding for that very reason a number of years ago (plus not wanting distracted guests). This year our anerversary falls mid week closest to the GF WE. Hawthorn supporting missus wants to have a WE away for the anerversary, so I stratically pushed back the WE away to the one after the GF.
  11. Take me to that dimension @Clint Bizkit. How much drugs will it take though?
  12. On the one hand, I hate loosing with a passion and take significant displeasure in this continual development focus talk, where the coaching staff seem less worried about individual win/losses etc as opposed to developing players and team culture, but on the other hand just making finals doesn't cut it as season defining success either. I watched too many good, but not good enough MFC sides make finals through the late 80s, 90s and early 2000s, only to never deliver a premership for the club, that just making finals means next to nothing unless we have a team that delivers the next flag. Whilst I'd never write us off winning a flag, based on the best we've been able to produce this year, on current form I'm not convinced we will go deep into September should we make it. That could quickly change if we get in the grove over the next few weeks, but realistically I think that’s a bit of a long shot. If we don't beat Collingwood and WC beat GWS, we don't deserve to be playing finals anyway. Unless we go all the way, anything in between is just an indicator of where we are going as far as I'm concerned and making or missing finals is neither success or failure as far as I'm concerned. The last thing I want out of this last rebuild is a teams like North and Freo have been over the last 10 - 15 years, making finals, but never good enough to win a flag. It's pulling in a flag sometime in the next 8 years that says our season has been a success. I think Roos and Goodwin have that mentality and I'm hoping like hell, Goody and the team has the ability to deliver it. So Yes make finals and Undecided (read neither succeed or failed) just on making finals for me.
  13. No doubt his and the teams efforts to create space for Jessie was part of the story, but I get the feeling watching his marks/goals from the Lion's game that their backs played incredibly loose on him and I hardly recalled him being double teamed all day. I also hardly remember a day where he has kicked so straight, not a numpty one off to the side all day (I was almost waiting for him to miss a sitter from 25 out). Fully expect Dunn to scrag the heck out of Jessie and Howe to come third man up on him all day against the Pies. Really do think Watts back into the side will complete our forward line, they can't hold all of our guns at once.
  14. Oh dear, that's not good news that we really want to hear. Despite my tongue in cheek rant, T Mac is a pretty important player for us when he's up and about. Even before this season when he has been a revolation up foward, he has been one of the best KP backs in the league for a number of years and I normally value his impact down there.
  15. Agree. I like Wagner for his effort and toughness, but being of limited raw tallent and lacking other weapons like Frosts pace, he does need to bring his A game to keep his spot in the side. For the past two weeks, he has looked lost and out of place. His wasted hack kicks in our forward line yesterday were embarrassing. Replacing Wagner and probably Stretch with any of Salem, Watts or Frost automatically makes us a better side next week.
  16. My apologies brother Deemented, I was only stirring the pot. Happy to hear that you are a full member and as I live interstate, I have no doubts you get to mamy more games than I do. Personally, I do generally like to at least watch most games live on TV, though I missed the GWS game a few weeks back due to work comments (not that missing that game was any great loss). Perhaps I should have put a few lol's or something into my posts late yesterday, no one seemed to read things on the lighter side.
  17. @Petraccattack @leave it to deever @Clint Bizkit 'Classic Demondland' was mostly what I was aiming for (with sarcasm intended). I thought that Mac did play a well below average game for his standards though. Thought his intercept marking was down and that he got stitched up early by the Lions young forward (who did look like a fairly handy player). The rest was pretty much me taking the Mickey, because I thought T Mac's feild passing was pretty solid, I don't think he really turned it over at all and perhaps the way the Lions attacked it wasn't really a tall players game in their forward/our back half. T Mac just didn't have the kind of influence that we've become customed to. I do wonder if Goodwin could have done more to bring him into the game, as he can be such a weapon for us, but then again Pedo was doing ok in the ruck as were he and Jessy up forward. It does make me wonder how we ballance our forward/back six in the next few weeks, as Frost and Watts clearly add something to both ends when they are in form. In all honesty, wouldn't trade either Macdonald in a thousand years as even Oscar has matured and become pretty reliable of late and if he fully develops into anything like he's brother strength wise will be an absolute machine with an additional 4 or so cm height on Tom and these two playing together will give us a pretty solid KPP bedrock over the next 5 - 8 years along with our other stocks in that area.
  18. Your 1 vote made me think a bit, but I got it in the end lol
  19. Walking through IKEA when with our whole season on the line? Where's the commitment? All Demented and no go! And I thought I was under the thumb... (sorry dear, I know I am, just don't want to admit it in public!)
  20. Nup, no room for him down back, has already been replaced as the MFC supporters punching bag by his brother. See ya later T Mac. Winter isn't over yet'S Frost will be back next week and you will be kicking the dew at Casey Tommy.
  21. Brock isn't worthy of carrying Pedo's bags.
  22. Well that was T Mac's worst game this year by far. Can't kick, can't spoil, can't mark, didn't look like he wanted to be out there. Don't even think he is tradable material on the basis of the game he played today. Jack Watts has more currency on today's effort.
  23. I recon they would be pretty good odds doe him to win too. Much rather Pedo than Dusty, but Pedo would have too many votes taken off him by Oliver, Viney and T Mac to be any kind of chance anyway.
  24. Except you need to change you hashtag to #Pedofacts Go the Bear, GO The MIGHTY DEMONS!!!
