  1. It takes me a whole year to forget how bloody boring this coverage of Brownlow night really is. I do wish I had a better memory and didn't bother to turn it on.
  2. Would like to trade you on that basis Picket.
  3. That girl had better hurry up and marry him, before I do! Got a serious man crush on Bernie. Absolutely top bloke. To think that he came to us when we were on our knees, when had he stayed at the Crows, he could be just about to play off in a GF. He deserves to be at the MFC when we finally have some decent success again.
  4. I know they were missing a few players, but how the heck did the Crows loose to those Meth Coast Fkers.
  5. Abosolutly. I hate Sheedy as much as I hate those GW$ show ponies, but hate that $cully AH most of all.
  6. Love Bernie, his great larrikin and clubman like attitude. I'd like to think that there is still some loyalty left in football and I think this is a good sign of that. In my veiw, he is one of a few players at the club that have earnt the right to finish on their terms.
  7. Not sure Geelong would agree with that (not that I really care). It would be a pretty tight contest for worst bloke between Heritier and Mitch.
  8. Would like to see meters gained as well. Could leading the running bounces just mean they bounce the ball more than needed? Not all, but certainly most players on that list would be light weights in terms of impact in games.
  9. I recon Saad could play as a mid more so than some of our other running backs.
  10. Know what you are saying, but I think this thread has some purpose in so far as it provides an opportunity to look back over Jack's season in its entirety and with some detachment from the emotion of his and the teams imidiate form. ...of course some will just use it to find fault and reasons why he should be tradded, but they should really be directed to (many) other threads that exist on those topics.
  11. For anyone who questions Jacks intestinal fortitude, there were a few games this year that demonstrated to me that he has what it takes: Rds 3 and 5 Vs Geelong and Richmond, where Jack almost single handedly rucked out the games against far bigger opponents. By the end of both games he was absolutely shattered, but kept on trying; Rd 12 Vs Collingwood - stood up and delivered when it counted. His 3 goals 2 behinds and 5 tackles played a pretty big part of the win that day. Rd 13 Vs the Bulldogs he was pretty good from memory, but then again, so was most of the team that day. Rest of the season was a bit of a write off through injury and poor form, but that would also apply to many of the team, not just Wattsy.
  12. I think people really need to look at the context of games played Vs time at the club for Spencer with the context of the ruck position he plays: 1. Ruckman normally take longer to develop; 2. True ruckman are probably limited in opportunities more so than most other positions, particularly since limits to rotations has driven the trend for most teams to only play one ruckman per game (I don't see any Cox/Natanui combos going round these days); 3. Beyond your primary ruck, most other ruckman on the list are probably considered as insurance for injury/unavailablity of the primary ruck (like any true insurance policy, our's found a loophole to avoid paying out when Gawn was injured this season!) and thus wouldn't nessasrily need/be expected to play many games per year - Jake averaged about 4-5 if you make allowance for a couple of years development up front. Would like to know the league wide stats. I'm actually sad to see the Spencil go. Early in his career, he was a real liability with ball in hand (as was Nathan Jones), but I think he mostly tidyed that up in the end. One thing that couldn't be questioned with Jake was his toughness and endevor. He probably wasn't all that well endoured athleticly either and that somewhat probably held him back, but for a guy of his size, what do you expect. The last few years, I thought he was pretty close to making the grade at times.
  13. Surely Ben Ken has got to go? When he couldn't get a game this year at the depths of our injury woes, then that has to say something. You'd think he has some minor trade currency for someone like GC but I wouldn't expect to see anything exciting for him, perhaps a swap of final round draft picks or something ... I'd swap him for the Son of God.
  14. I thought the response from The Wise One was a fine bit of satire, equalling in response to the spirit that was suggested by the statement that this thread is for 'Trade Facts'... lol
  15. Hmmm, Picks 10 and 27, put my order in for another couple of Clarrys please.
  16. I know what you are saying, but Trengove sits well above any other on that list.
  17. Pretty good shot on goal too. Delivers in pressure situations. Could almost have another thread on this (I assume there probably is somewhere), generally speaking, I think the kicking skills of most players is proportional to the presence or absence of pressure. There are a few freaks in the comp like Abblet, Pendelbry etc who can reliably deliver under extreme pressure, but I really think they are the 5%ers. For 95% of players, I think they look like either superstars or complete duds based on the form of the team, the pressure/space and options presenting in front of them. Thus individual performance is enhaced/degraded based on team performance. Conversely there are the other players that are in the bottom 5% by foot. I certainly wouldn't put Brayshaw in that category either. I would almost say that Viney is in the bottom 5% by foot, but his impact to the team is made up in other ways. My perception is that with Tyson is that it is all in the head as I've seen him execute brilliantly in periods, but absolutely appalling on others. No better example of this psychological aspect to kicking than our Rd 23 game against the Pies, Tyson, Garlett, Gawn, T Mac and probably others had absolute shockers in that respect, when based on ability/recient past record they are much better than what was produced on that day. Likewise Jessy and Buggy have had big/bad periods of 'The Yips' Really does show how much of footy is a confidence/mental thing and when you have it, you have it and when loose it you loose it.
  18. From:http://m.melbournefc.com.au/news/2017-09-06/vfl-player-review-qualifying-final Angus Brayshaw: He had 36 disposals, including 23 contested possessions, 12 clearances and 11 inside 50s. Angus started slowly, but when we needed someone to stand-up, Gus was put in the middle of the ground and he won clearances. I thought he was best-on-ground, which was a credit to him. He really stood-up and sensed he had to do something for his team, so I couldn’t speak highly enough of his game This guy provided a rare shining light towards the end of the season and let's hope this is a sign of things to come. Really thought we lacked another quality genuine mid this year and Gus could well be the answer to that in 2018.
  19. I agree completely, but if I recall correctly, reason we didn't have a first round pick last year was because we traded it as a future pick the year before to allow us to pick up both Weid and Clarry. I'll quite happily gloat with how well that has worked out so far with respects to Clarry and hopefully Weid too in the next few years. Does really show how valuable those first round picks can be when used well.
  20. It has alway irked me that they went over and have been hanging around all those yellow and brown scum.
  21. It's pretty common knowledge that Martin has one of the highest school leaving scores/IQ in the AFL. Him going to the Dogs really would be like a rose amongst the thorns!
  22. Probably because Spencil is from Qld. Getting your ruckman mixed up Dom.
  23. Absolutely. Together with all, or even some of those guys, I think it would be very difficult to match up on everyone. I think it helps Hunt in that way to have another really pacey bloke down back. Asides from his pace, the guy has some other valuable weapons. As we saw this year earlier against North, Frosty is a great long shot for goal on his day and I love the way he can almost come from nowhere to put a diving spoil on, a bit like Sean Wight use to. Just needs to keep improving and putting it all together over a whole season. ...and I'd like to see Buddy try to out run Frosty!
  24. Clarry actually handballs more often at this piont than Deisel did. Based on that, I'd say his meters gained would be less than Deisels. Average total disposals per game stats are similar.
  25. Clarry best young player award - well that was predictable.
