North were a bit silly in beating GC in round 24 last year.

They had Harley Reid secured after the Eagles gifted them 18th spot in round 23 with a Hail Mary win over the Dogs….

However, they (North) somehow put 20 goals on GC in front of a whopping 4,000 people down in Hobart in a game nobody will care to remember.

Net result - 17th finish. No Harley Reid.

This is the exact reason the draft order should be decided by combining the ladders of 2 or 3 seasons. Means you can't play finals, drop off hard for a year and get pick 2 then play finals again but helps the teams who are down longer. But that's for another thread. What a player Reid is.

Can’t wait until the day when the AFL has to try and defend itself (and it’s joke of a tribunal decision making processes) against aggrieved former / current players in a real court of law. It’s just a matter of time.

i would enjoy having maynard on the stand under oath and asking if he intended to hurt people during that game and if he did all he could to exercise his duty of care to other players

Best legal defence in the land.

We need to get more references for our players.

lol we werent even allowed to call an *EXPERT* witness for kozzie last week, let alone 2 character witnesses. [censored] is rigged.

I too have done this. I have KAYO but only watch games and First Crack for Joey. Rets is rubbish and its the best thing Iv'e done lately to reduce outrage at the AFL and media.

However, lets just add this to the list of spineless AFL calls which includes:

The Brownlow effect  - favourites get off.

The Cripps rule - no explanation needed( also called the Pendles rule)

The good bloke rule - Cameron

The media darling rule - Trent Cotchin rule is its correct terminology

The Whately Rule - known as the toe-the-party-line rule. or don't upset head office calling them out

The Robbo rule - see the Whately rule

The Toby Greene Rule - used to be castigated, now loved by everyone so he gets a free pass( but deserves it anyway)

There must be others but I'm avoiding even reading this stuff and will await our thrashing of the tiges next week to look forward to.  Everything else is white noise to me. Its fantastic.

All of these rules can be summarised into "money is king"

  5. honestly id back the goal umpires in.

id do it like cricket. each team gets 1 and 1 ONLY (unless correct) to do a score review.

anyone can call it. but youre not going to call it unless youre absolutely sure.

get it wrong and waste it? you dont get any more.

I liked Essendon when they had their breakthrough flags in 1984/5 but must say have disliked them since their sniping tactics in the 1990 and especially 2000 grand finals. I still don't like them for this reason, plus the later d**g/p******s  scandal, but must say the whole thing feels tragic now, esp. for many of their supporters. Don't forget the Dees spent generations in this wilderness, and it ain't pretty. They are my feelings after reading through some of these Bomber blitz comments.

I mean just go look at the YouTube video of long smashing into simmonds and rekindle that hatred

  7. I believe Maynard's was intentional as he'd been interviewed the week before saying he was going to make a statement and hurt people, but that's by the by.

I think kozzie deserves a week. I think it's not a good look for us to appeal. BUT

I hope we use "soligo moved into kozzies way" "kozzie was protecting himself" "he was just trying to smother" "it was a football act"

Think of it as an emotional hedge.
We all want Collingwood to lose  but if they don't you're financially rewarded. I have a number of friends who have won/lost lots of money betting against their own teams.

I've made significant dollars the last few finals series unfortunately

  9. It's interesting isn't it as the knee lift isn't against the rules but there is obviously large potential for damage and even concussion. I can see them changing the rule down the line tbh

The Gawn one was classic "ruck lotto". The rules in those contests are so unpredictable. If that had gone the other way we'd have been ropeable.

I was equally ropeable at the Rozee one, that was horrendous IMO.

Disagree. The port bloke was facing away from the footy with his arms around gawn. That's a free every time.
